About Scott Thielbar
This has been a great home for us and our family. The home has been the meeting place to enjoy weekends on the lake for our family and friends. The house is extremely nice and we enjoy every moment we can get in this area.
Scott Thielbar purchased this House in 2004
Why Scott Thielbar chose Norton Shores
We now live in Chicago and it is the perfect feel of up north yet has all the amenities and activities you could want. Not to mention Lake Michigan access for pleasure boating.
What makes this House unique
We enjoy water skiing, tubing, and fishing on Mona Lake, and then head out to lake Michigan for harbor hopping! Or spend a day with the kids on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We have many great barbecues on the patios as well! On those rainy days you can enjoy the movie theater down the road, or an afternoon in front of the flat screen with extra channels and HD!

Lake house Retreat
We had a wonderful stay at this spacious home on Mona Lake in Norton Shores. The home is updated and exactly as pictured with lots of room for a big gathering. We especially loved the quiet neighborhood, large backyard, and beautiful views off the back of the house picture windows. This home is very close to all the shopping and beaches in Grand Haven and thebeautiful big beaches on Lake Michigan in Muskegon. It was not a far drive to the dunes in Silver Lake and we also visited Holland and Sagatuck (about an hour away). The only thing we would agree with from past reviews is that the walk down to the lake/dock is a bit steep. There is a nice path (angled along the edge of a hill), but it is not paved, not does it have stairs. If you have young children or elderly guests, it could pose a challenge. Also, although the lake itself is very quiet, it is not very wide where the home is located, and you can sometimes hear traffic from the main road across from the lake/house. It did not bother us, but this lake is not in a remote area as some are. Overall, we had a lovely time and would definitely return.
Great Vacation on Beautiful Lake
This house met all of our expectations and needs. We had a group of 8 - ages ranging from 9 to 83. Everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the house.
The neighborhood is quiet and perfect for walking, jogging, biking or whatever you want.
The view of the lake was fantastic. Our teenage boys enjoyed late night fishing off the dock and we enjoyed relaxing on the patio.
The small beach located about a mile away is a gem! Easy to get to and so much fun.
Wonderful family vacation
We enjoyed our week, the house was perfect, the neighbors were extremely friendly! We brought our own boat, the weather was perfect, as a previous review stated getting from the house down to the dock can be a challenge for anyone elderly or out of shape because there is a steep dirt hill and not steps! Also because of the location being at the end of the lake the weeds were excessive but we were able to maneuver the boat around them, take a short drive and pull up on the beach and anchor for the day! The kids also made great use of the pier to fish off of and able to catch tons of fish! It was a great vacation with lots of memories made!
Family vacation in Muskegon
Comfortable property. Our stay included the wife and I, wife's mother, 4 adult kids and 3 grandkids. We also rented the pontoon boat which was a terrific add. Hot humid week but the AC kept up fine. outdoor lounging facilities were comfortable. Walk to the water down a hill proved difficult for elderly mother in law. I would pay more for the week if steps were installed. Swimming was not acceptable at lake access due to weeds but there is a swimming beach a short drive from the location by boat or car. All in all and enjoyable time.
Home is uniquely located to enjoy about everything! Less than 10 Min to downtown Grand Haven or 5 Min to downtown Muskegon. Walk to theater and restaurants/ice cream parlor. Bald eagles nest along lakeshore and seen regularly. 15 min to Michigan Adventure, 5 min to several golf courses and shopping center. 10 minutes to state park for hiking or walking the dunes.
