Great price, great location, but.....

  • 3 of 5

We built a tiny house, but this house was tiny to the max! Tiny stoop made it very difficult to remove shoes (per request) especially since it rained the entire stay....also a pain to use bathroom having to do the shoe on/off thing. Bed was so high I had trouble getting into it. But bed was comfortable and the shelves including a large pull out one were helpful. Because of weather was not a place to hang out.....interior colors (cranberry, dark green) made it gloomier. With a few tweaks, like a larger entry platform, etc.... this tiny house could be much better, making it a worthwhile stay.

Owner's Response: Hi Kate, I'm so sorry you found a couple things not to your liking. I know the weather has been atrocious this year and it's no fun to come on vacation and have it rain the whole time. Thank you for removing your shoes. It is the local custom and I'm sorry it was inconvenient. We do provide a stool to help you get onto the bed. I hope you were able to find it. Thanks for your suggestion about changing the colors and widening the entryway. Take care! Warmly, Laura

A small cabin in the forest with lots of nature sounds

  • 5 of 5

It's a small place, but made a nice relaxing home base for my trip, and the price was right. I happened to run into the owner (you probably won't) and they were very pleasant and made me feel comfortable asking them for anything if I needed it. I think people who like camping would like this place, but if you're expecting something like a motel or hotel, look elsewhere - it really is in the woods and you will hear rain, roosters, birds, and all the great Hawaiian nature. A small town is 2 blocks away with gas and plenty of dining.

Quiet little cabin in the woods

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The cabin was great, and it has everything you need -- except a clothes line.

Quiet and quaint

Great place to rest your head and get away. Very close to the shops of Hawi but far enough away to be remote.

Everything you need

Was a great, quiet, place to stay on a budget! I enjoyed the small space to be close! to my husband and then exploring the island all day.

The authentic Hawaii experience

  • 5 of 5

What a great find. We wanted to stay in Hāwí because it has the feel of the islands. This cabin is a nice walking distance to town. Everything you need to cook with is there. There is ample storage for all your clothes and food. The bathroom is spacious and clean. We were welcomed with flowers and fruit and coffee for the first morning. Both the owner and care taker live on the large homestead and would be there if you needed them.
