20 minutes north of Syracuse New York. Very large deck, Concrete dock, marina nearby actually one quarter mile away for boats over 19 ft. The east side of the house has woods and the right side is a park like setting with rolling lawn and a canopy of old trees. Gas and charcoal grills on premises. The stairs from the parking lot are not steep, in fact, they are only a couple of inches. If you are severely disabled you may have trouble carrying a suitcase down them. There is
only one full sized stair. Approx. 60 feet from parking. This is a year round camp not all the comforts of home or hotel, but great for family get togethers. Outdoor people like the place. Waterbirds, cranes and egrets are usually seen. Ducks, buffets, geese, swans. Also, bald eagles, hawks and wood peckers, even pilated are seen. Large parking area. If you scream when you see a spider stay home. Place is neat and clean.
I am a chiropractor and have a beautiful home with a refurbished
boat house on the water. There is a concrete dock but if you
arrive in very windy weather you may want to dock at the marina
one quarter of a mile away. We have docked our 23 foot boat
on our dock all season but take precautions in a blow.

I love the water and it is a real treat to come home to this beautiful
and peaceful property. Though route 49 is the roadside, wildlife
abounds. You are sure to see cranes and eagles and a variety of
animals. Occasionally river otters are on the lower deck. New living room furniture and new air conditions in each bedroom giving plenty of ventilation. Ozone filter which protects against molds. We try to accommodate folks and correct accordingly. Katie
It is amazing to live on boatable swimmable and even drinkable
lake. there are fishing tournaments on the lake. It is also amazing
to be so rural but have the advantages of a good size city 20
Oneida Lake is known for small and large mouth bass and walleye pike, and unusually large and flavorful perch. (We call it
Oneida Lake shrimp.)
Bill and Kate were very hospitable. We stayed over Memorial Day weekend with our three kids.
Huge deck, nice picnic area down by the water. Kids enjoyed playing in the water (knee-waist deep), saw a lot of fish (wish I brought a pole).
As Bill said, "It's not the Taj Mahal," but it was definitely cozy. Would stay again!
Loved this place! Decent and clean open home... Porch and scenery was so beautiful. Nice place to enjoy the lake.
Needs to be updated dramatically! There were issues with flooding in the house and insects from rain and evidence of mouse droppings. Will not be rebooking even after the owners offered a future stay discount. Owners were very nice but this property is not up to par for renting.
Basically the house was nice -- needs some minor repairs. Dock was convenient. View great.
What a disappointment! First Bill went out to run errands rather than meet me as planned for the 4pm check-in. Then I found that you can’t get your car to the camp…you must use a long, very steep downslope path (marked in spots by crumbling pavement over broken steps) to carry luggage and groceries from the car to the camp; eventually of couse, you’re going to have to carry that luggage back up that steep slope. Entering the front door, I immediately smelled garbage. I found two large garbage cans stored right inside the camp. It seemed that every room was on a different level, with enough steps to be a “World of Stairs” theme park. The master bedroom could only be reached by parading thru the other bedroom..so much for any privacy. I could see that both decks were heavily damaged by sun and weather. I wouldn’t have walked on those decks for anything. I certainly didn’t wait for Bill to show up; I was out of there ten minutes after I arrived.
While many reviews say rustic, that implies some level of charm, of which this place has none. As soon as we arrived, it was suddenly described to us as a camp and we had to immediately sign a waiver to walk on the deck because of its poor condition. While the view is incredible, the accommodations were not. Dishes from the previous renters were left in the drain board, the windows have not been cleaned in years, and there may have been more bugs inside than out. It was so disappointing to be nervous about walking on the deck because we were most excited about enjoying evenings watching the sunset. The home has a musty smell as well. We also found the owners to be rather aloof, though we were appreciative that they allow pets. We left early.
