About Lon White
Cindy was born and raised in Kodiak with a rich local history and passion for the local culture. Her family are 3rd generation commercial fishermen and boat builders. Lon came to Kodiak in 1978 as a commercial diver. In 1980 he started his own diving business which is still operating today, serving Southwest Alaska. He is also the Harbormaster and an avid fly fisherman, always willing to share Kodiak's favorite fishing spots with guests.
Lon White purchased this House in 1994
Why Lon White chose Kodiak
Located at the end of a private and secluded road, aptly called Woodland Dr, the quiet and natural setting is so relaxing you feel like your in a remote location but only 5 minutes from downtown. We have traveled all over Alaska and find Kodiak to be absolutely our favorite place to be.
What makes this House unique
Step outside your door and your at the beginning of the Spruce Cape trail that runs 1/3 mile out the cape along the coast. Wildlife and scenery are spectacular. Eagles, otters and whales are frequently seen and occasionally bears! During July and August you wake to the sound of salmon splashing close to shore, just teasing you to catch them. It's always fun to hook one before breakfast. In early July the sun doesn't set until 11PM and the sunsets on the oceanfront deck are unbelievable.

Spectacular view in relaxed setting.
Everything we wanted for family time in a wonderful setting. Great views of Kodiak wildlife while kicking back and enjoying the company of family. The owner was a wonderful host and obviously took care to ensure the enjoyment of those he rented the unit to. Wonderful surprise to exceed expectations
Amazing location and view
Amazing location and view. Comfortable and nice host.
Best views on mill bay
Beautiful place, gracious host and most amazing views on the island
Perfection on Kodiak
Three things are simple truths about Kodiak Island. One, it's remarkably beautiful. Two, it's more than likely going to be wet. And three, there aren't a great number of really nice lodging options. Lon's place is definitely an exception to number three!
My family of four (two "adult" boys) spent six nights at "A Captain's Quarters", and we found it to be perfect for our needs. Three good-sized bedrooms, a cozy great room, and an efficient kitchen assured that we would have the comforts and functionality of home with stunning views of the forest and the bay. There is a beautiful multi-tier deck on the back to get you even better views, and a short, but fairly steep, path that takes you down to the beach/water (depending on the tide table). Really nice!
We arrived early in the afternoon, but Lon had the house ready for us, and greeted us upon our arrival. He could not have been nicer, even when we excused ourselves to go explore the island on a rare sunny day. He did provide us with some great tips on getting the most out of our stay. We've stayed at many VRBO's, and this is among the best experiences we've had. Thanks, Lon!
Exceptional view - clean, comfortable, perfect
We can not say enough nice about this place. The view is breathtaking, there is a beautiful hiking path right next door, sea otters playing in the water, fun beach walk ( but not for everyone as it is rocky - the older 87 plus people stayed on the deck ) beautiful deck. It was better then we expected. The owners are nice - Perfect stay!
Thank you for staying with us. You and your family were a blessing to us. It was great to see everyone truely enjoying our home and the bueaty of Kodiak.
