An amazing location for exploring Paris! The Wall Street Journal in January, 2014 calls our neighbourhood (the 6th) the 'Creme de la Creme' and now the most expensive address in Paris with a rustic vibe that evokes the feel of an 18th century neighbourhood with 21st century amenities and has been the stomping grounds for Europe's intellectual & artistic elite for the last 100 years. Enjoy this beautifully renovated, bright, two bedroom, two bathroom (each with shower, sink + toilet) apartment. Elegantly furnished and appointed- all brand new high end furniture & appliances. Large bright double sitting room with sofa-bed and three French windows overlooking the street, writing/computer plug in desk, dining area for 6, dishwasher, induction hob, full size fridge/freezer, coffeemaker, Nespresso machine, fully equipped. I am a Toronto lawyer who lived and studied in Paris for a year when I was in my early 20's. I met my American husband that year in Paris. Since then, Paris has always been a special place for me. We now live in Toronto with our two university age sons.
Jane Ferguson purchased this apartment in 2012
My dream of owing a pied-a-terre in Paris was formed the year I lived there in the early 80's and was finally realized in 2012 when I found this apartment in the perfect location in St. Germain des Pres on the border of the Latin Quarter and a short walk to the Seine - perfect for exploring Paris. It was an estate sale - a rabbit-warren of rooms badly in need of renovation. I took the plunge and spent 6 months doing a total gut and reno. As a result, everything (even the drywall, plumbing & electrical) is all new. I can't use it as much as I would like to so I am delighted to be able to share it with others.
The location is superb. The amenities complete. Everything is new but fixtures and finishes were chosen to give it a classic elegant Paris apartment feel. I hope you will feel at home there. (One of my repeat clients calls it 'our apartment'!)
Foodies and cooks will love the proximity to the Marche St. Germain food market (open each day but Monday - open 8:30 - 1 Tues - Sat & 8:30 - 1 Sunday) and the organic & eco-friendly Boulevard Raspail market and flea market on Sunday (between rue du Cherche-Midi & rue de Rennes, open 8:30 - 2:30 p.m. Sundays) and the famed epicerie/food hall at the Bon Marche department store south just into the 14th district - about a 15 minute walk from the apartment.
What a magical time our family had in this warm, cozy and chic apartment! Jane, the owner, was extremely helpful - going above and beyond to ensure we had the perfect experience at her special home and we did! Roland, the apartment manager was kind and the consummate professional. It was so very pleasurable and easy to walk the city from this location - returning each evening to a beautiful apartment with all the comforts of home. The twinkling, festive lights on the street below the apartment and joy in the air was palpable and intoxicating. We had so many memorable experiences it is hard to pick which was best but walking down the holiday fairyland lit Champs - Elysees, eating roasted chestnuts and munching on Grand Marnier crepes filled to the brim with fresh cream on our way to the Arc de Triomphe, then hiking to the top of the Arc and watching the Tower Eiffel do its sparkling show was simply magical! Thanks so very much for opening up your piece of paradise to us Jane, we can't wait to stay again!
We (family of 4, two teenagers) stayed in this fantastic apartment in August for five days. It is perfectly situated to walk to the Seine, Notre Dame, the Louvre, and to access all of the cafes and shopping in the St. Germain area. Also near the Metro and a cab stand if you are venturing further away. It was a huge help to have a washing machine and dryer, as well as the ability to keep a few things in the fridge and make a cup of coffee. The apartment itself is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, with renovated kitchen and bathrooms. At the same time, it feels old world. Truly the best of both. Jane (the owner) and Roland (the manager) were charming, responsive, and shared a lot of information about the area with us. I would not hesitate for five seconds to book this apartment again. In fact, I can't wait to return...
We spent 2 weeks at this wonderful apartment in Paris in June 2016. It is tastefully decorated with exceptional art. It is spacious, well equipped, well kept and clean with two bathrooms. The street is busy and noisy...we were there when Euro 2016 was on but the bedrooms are quiet as they are located at the back of the unit. The street is fun with lots of good restaurants, cafes wine bars and bars within a 2 block radius. It is centrally located and walking distance to numerous attractions...Louvre, d'Orsay, Notre Dame etc. The host there is very helpful, friendly and delightful to chat with. We thoroughly enjoyed this place and look forward to a return visit.
My husband and I are awaiting the taxi to take us to the train station and I have a few moments to reflect. On behalf of all 4 of us that enjoyed your apartment, thank you for the lovely experience! This was a very special trip, my son became engaged to a wonderful lady and we spent an amazing evening Parisian style with our future inlaws. Truly precious memories.
We were enchanted by the apartment, it was beautifully appointed and we were very comfortable, we had everything we needed and the neighborhood is fantastic! Thank you to Roland for making my son and his fiance's arrival so welcoming as we came later, and for making our departure so easy.
Thank you, and I can only dream that we may return someday.
We could not have been more pleased with this apartment. My sister and I spent 10 days there; my sister's first trip to Paris. The location was excellent as was the experience with Roland and Jane. Roland gave us a very thorough review of the place as well as recommendations for dinner and the best patisserie. We loved the neighborhood, the quiet bedrooms, the modern conveniences and having 2 bathrooms! The apartment is comfortable, bright and is every bit as attractive as the photos. I would recommend this in a heartbeat.
Everything was just as it should have been for a dream trip to Paris. We took our three granddaughters ages 9, 12 and 13...and this was a trip of a lifetime! We know Paris well having lived there for four years in the 80's, and have been back many times since then but this was to be a special occasion, so we had great expectations for this trip which were more than met. The apartment was wonderful, in the most perfect location, with the most perfect acomodations. Everything worked and everything was comfortable. The maids cleaned beautifully and when we entered the apt. all was spotless. The delightful little street had cafes and restaurants and was near so many boutiques, metros and cafes and of course the Boulevard St. Germain. Our girls could wander the street on their own which they loved. We cannot say enough about this lovely week in this well managed, clean and beautiful spot. Everything was better than expectations which were indeed high. Huge recommendations for this apartment on rue des Canettes!
In the heart of historic St.Germain des Pres, steps from St. Sulpice, and just south of Boulevard St. Germain off the rue du Four. Close to metro stops St. Germain and Mabillon. 1/3 of a mile to Luxembourg Gardens. Short walk to the Latin Quarter. In the heart of the city and the famous literary quarter and a 5 minute walk to Cafe les deux magots - a favourite haunt of Hemingway, Stein, F. Scott Fitzgerald and their contemporaries and the Cafe de Flore - favoured by Picasso (who lived and painted nearby) and Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir. Walking distance to many museums. Foodies will love the proximity to the St. Germain market (open every day but Monday), the Organic market on the Boulevard Raspail every Sunday and the famous food hall a 15 minute walk south in Le Bon Marche department store. The apartment is on a small medieval street filled with restaurants, cafes, bars and little shops. A great launching pad for sightseeing, walking, shopping and more.
