About Rusty Barber
Ana and Rusty Barber both live in Washington, DC. Ana is from Argentina and Rusty is a native of New England. Owned by Rusty and his brother, Ted, the Sevrier farmhouse has become a treasured retreat that we hate to leave and can't wait to get back to.
Rusty Barber purchased this House in 2000
Why Rusty Barber chose Sévrier
When Rusty and Ted stumbled on this quiet farmhouse at the end of a cul-de-sac on the very last day of a two-week search, they knew they'd found their idyll. Ted had fallen in love with Lake Annecy during a college summer spent studying French in nearby Talloires. He never imagined that one day he'd be a resident in such a stunning part of the world. We were looking for a home with traditional Savoyard charm, close to the lake and Annecy but far enough from the city to escape the tourist traffic during high season. We were taken with the classic wood crossbeams and original stone facing. A balcony affords spectacular views of the mountains that surround Lake Annecy.
Perfect location to explore Annecy
Rusty's house is lovely, set in a quite location but close enough to Annecy by bike along the cycle path (we did it with 3 young boys aged 7-9). This is a rustic farmhouse so don't expect everything to be immaculate but it is very clean and has everything you need (including a BBQ and 2 bikes).
We rarely go to the same place twice but if I was to go to this area again I would certainly stay here.
Much appreciated, Neill, and looking forward to hosting you and your family again on a future visit to Lac Annecy!
Excellent holiday house in a convenient location
Excellent, accurately described holiday house in a quiet yet convenient location with reliable owner and helpful local representative. Nearby "beach" in St Joriez is great for swimming with boating options.
Traffic into Annecy a little busy, but we were there in the peak French holiday season.
We would definitely recommend this.
Great stay and excellent location!
The house in Annecy was very quaint and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the location away from the city, but near the lake and mountain activities. We would definitely stay again.
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The home was very well maintained and fully stocked with everything needed to spend a comfortable stay in this area of France. View of the surrounding countryside from the deck was beautiful. Sleeping facilities were great and having a fireplace was a welcome addition on some cool evenings.
The home is located in a quiet residential area about five minutes drive from the lake with the town of Annecy another 10 minutes away. Lots of shops and restaurants in the immediate area.
Fantastic two-week vacation
Our family (two adults and our 16 year-old daughter) spent a fantastic two-week vacation in this house. It is a very comfortable and functional place for a family of any size. Spacious living room and bedrooms are good for rest. The kitchen is very well equipped which makes preparing meals a pleasure. Two bathrooms are an additional advantage. From the balcony on the second floor there is a beautiful view of the mountains and the castle in Menthon Saint-Bernard on the other side of Lake Annecy. The neighborhood is quiet; patio and garden are well separated from adjacent houses. The house has its own garage and additional covered parking space; a well-stocked super market and gas station are close at hand too. Located close to the main road going along the lake (direction Annecy and Albertville), this home is a good base for hiking, skiing and exploring Haute-Savoie. We recommend the wonderful croissants and other delicacies at Boulangerie Chevalier, a five minute walk from the front door!
Our 19th Century stone farmhouse is nestled in the quiet neighborhood of Cessenaz, only a 3-minute bike ride from beautiful Lake Annecy and 20 minutes by bike to Annecy city. Renowned for its stunning, turquoise lake and the surrounding Alps, our region is also abundant in history, hiking, outdoor markets, fine local cuisine, skiing and cultural activities of all sorts. We're less than an hour's drive from Geneva, Chamonix, Aix-les-Bains as well as several popular family ski resorts.
Ski areas within 45 minutes include La Clusaz, Saint-Jean de-Sixt, Le Grand-Bornand and Manigod.
