About John Glader
I am a 63 year old retired building contractor that has lived in the area for over 40 years. I love to fish, hunt, golf, and play hockey, so that keeps me very busy and out of trouble. However, I am of nordic descent so of course not being in trouble is a challenge. Born in Minnesota I moved here at 20 because it has everything I grew up with and much more!
John Glader purchased this Cottage in 1985

We really enjoyed our stay!
Great Location & Price
This place was a surprise...in a good way. It was much more comfortable than we were expecting. Both beds and the living room offer great space and cozy furniture. It was also very clean. The location is outstanding. Unless you are camping/have an RV, it would be extremely difficult to find a place closer to the West entrance of Glacier NP in this price range. Furthermore, it is a short walk to Glacier Pizza (was excellent) and the Glacier Distillery (highly recommended). It is about a 20 minute drive to Whitefish if you want to explore that town. The kitchen has everyting you should need to cook and there is a good grocery store about a 3-5 minute drive away.
There are is one con to this place which is why I deducted one star. If you are reading the reviews and read the description you know there is a train that runs through the town. The house is approximately 100 yards from the railway crossing. We knew all this when we made the reservation. We were just a bit surprised at how often the trains came by, especially at night. Every night they came by approximately 6 to 7 times between (10 PM and 7 AM). They blow their horns at least 3 times at the crossing and it is very loud, even with all the windows closed. You will be woken up each time they come by. With that being said, I would still recommend this place based on everything it has to offer.
all good part from the noise from trains
The cabin has a great set up. It is very clean and has everything you would hope for. John is a super host that care for your stay. I, my husband and our baby has no problem with the trains noise because we are real tired from hiking and didn't care. My husband parents and his sister had issue with the noise. They could not sleep in most night. They woke up every time the trains pass by. The train track are really close like 300 feet away and the horns are pretty noisy. In conclusion, this place are great for people that can sleep really good even though there are super noisy trains run all night.
My stay here was only my second ever VRBO stay. The property has little curb appeal. The yard and the home's exterior need attention. However, upon entering the home I was relieved. It is abundantly and well furnished and stocked. The bed in the main bedroom was comfortable.Yes.....you hear the trains, but this was not a problem for me. Communication with John was satisfactory. With not a single reservation (oh, a play on words) I recommend this property.
Just what we were hoping for
It was just what we were looking for. Great location to Glacier & the house was the perfect size for my family of 5.
Loved the closeness of Glacier National.
This was a great location for fishing and day trips to the Park. The inside of the house was very clean. The outside needs some care. The only complaint we had was the neighbors rooster would crow from 3 to 6 am. We know John has no control over this. The price was great.
