It's an amazing 100 acre property, and is like being in a private National Park. The home is 100% solar powered, off the grid, and with tasty well water.
Experience Joshua Tree dessert first hand without neighbors. You're surrounded by thousands of acres of wilderness. Hop on large boulders, explore miles of trails, observe active desert wildlife. Discover movie props, Rock City and Coyote Hole.
IF YOU WANT A DESERT ADVENTURE... THIS IS IT!!! It's an exclusive one of a kind property.
It's only 2 miles from the town of Joshua Tree and 3 miles from the Western entrance to the National Park.
The house is comfortable and has everything you need. The WIFI is good and there's great cell service. Enjoy the wood burning hot tub, fire pit, and wood burning stove. Browse the eclectic library in the media den. The house is styled Mid Century Kitch.
Great for families, romantic getaways, friends' reunions, holidays, artists, rock scramblers, hikers, and those who want to get away from it all. It's very special for those who have a deep spiritual connection to nature.
Amateur PHOTOGRAPHERS: Take amazing shots. Bring a tripod and take photos at night of the stars and landscape.
STAR GAZERS. (Turn off all white light and only turn on the special red lights. That way you see much better in the dark.)
HIKERS: Take the path from the house down directly to the landmark COYOTE HOLE. Look closely and you'll see ancient Indian Petroglyphs, as the land has been populated for centuries by indigenous peoples.
Don’t miss ROCK CITY, a functioning outdoor set for a Survivalist movie project I'm working on. We've had many film and photo shoots. Clients include Calvin Klein 30th mens underwear campaign, Paul and Joe, Brooks Brothers, Doc Marten, etc.
Film Location: Starts at $1000 a day
Photo Shoots: Start at $850 a day

Matthew Patrick purchased this house in 1992
When I took a trip out to Joshua Tree Monument (now called Joshua Tree National Park), I fell in love with its, unusual beauty. It wasn't far from Los Angeles, and yet it felt like another world. I wanted to have land as much like the Park as I could. So I purchased a 2.5 acre piece in 1992. I camped on it often. My favorite thing was (and still is) to sleep outside under the stars.
As time went on, I bought the parcels around me. Personally the size and scope of it still blows me away. To walk the perimeter can take a day.
Strangely, or not so strangely, people tell me they become connected to the rocks in a primitive way. It helps them put life in perspective and is good for body and soul. I feel that way too. JTP has been a great retreat for myself and friends. Now, in 2012 I open it to you.
Every picture was taken on the property... guaranteed. You will take amazing photos too.
Joshua Tree is a spiritual center and High Desert Vacation Mecca. Joshua Tree Paradise is on a priceless 100 acre piece of property that is adjacent to the park.
There are many enjoyable and at times odd adventures to be had. Listen to live music at Pappy and Harriets. Go antiquing, and to the swap meet, where amazing stuff turns up.
If you're a rock climber, you already know Joshua Tree National Park is one of the most famous and amazing places to climb in the world.
THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE JOSHUA TREE.
Thanks so much Matthew. Your beautiful slice of paradise is also my favorite place which is why I keep coming back so long as you'll have me. I'm no artist, just a stress filled guy who needs his "me" time. JTP is the perfect place. I find it calming and spiritual and it literally transforms me if only for a few days. I have checked out your other websites and the blogs and so on. Very fascinating! Those funny videos were great. What an amazing talent you have. Great work! And not to mention academy nominated for your short film.... PRICELESS!
Thanks so much for everything Matthew... I greatly appreciate you being so kind.
If you're looking for off the beaten track, this is it...in the best possible way. Great house that's totally off the grid and but has all the modern comforts. Amazing property to explore...while the National Park is stunning and just a short drive away, honestly you don't even need to leave, there are so many hikes to take, places to explore and rocks to climb. The VRBO and house website are very accurate in what you can expect on site. A truly special place - can't wait to go back!
My family of 6 (2 adults, 4 kids 9,12,15 and 16) stayed at Joshua Tree Paradise for 3 nights as part of a 2 week Southwest Roadtrip and WE LOVED IT!!! The property is nothing short of magical with boulders and trails for days. You'll get the whole desert vibe with crazy cactuses, kangaroo rats, Joshua Trees and Yuccas without ever leaving the confines of the property. The house has EVERYTHING one could need and then some. So many board games and even roll playing outfits, fake swords etc.... my kids went nuts. There was so much to do that electronics weren't even asked for! There are quirky objects located all over the property, it really just begs for your imagination to run wild. While we did not sleep outside, there are plenty of metal bed frames that you can drag a cushion out to and star gaze. We made some unforgettable vacation memories at Joshua Tree Paradise! Stay and make some of your own! Oh and I'd like to thank the owner for the complimentary bottle of wine and beautiful photographs, made our stay that much sweeter. Thank you for sharing this wonderful space!
If you want your own private JTree Nat'l Park, this is the place.
Perfect Joshua Tree getaway! Beautiful home close to JTNP entrance. Lots of trails within the property to explore during the day and nighttime stargazing is amazing.
This is truly a one of a kind property!! So rare in crowded souther California to have this much free space to roam! Endless rock formations and fantastic cactus and wildflowers everywhere. Mathew also has lots of metal bed frames around the property to star gaze from or cozy up and read a book. So quirky and cool! The house was really comfortable. Both beds had great mattresses! It also has really well placed windows that open up with screens so you can get a great cross flow of air throughout. So nice in the desert! The house is stocked really well and has really interesting and fun games! Some great books and DVD's too. We had such a nice time and only wish we could have stayed longer. We didn't get to meet Mathew but you can tell so much about someone from the feel of their house. This property and house have a great feel to them. Thank you so much Mathew for sharing your magical place.
Also, one last great feature. You feel SO remote and private. But we had to run into town twice to get things we forgot at he health food store and it was SO CLOSE! That is the best! Total privacy and still close to town. Count yourself lucky if you get to stay here!
This property was AMAZING!! House was perfect for my parents, 2 kids and myself. We all had plenty of room and everything we could possibly need for our stay. House was spotless. Owner provided mats and sleeping bags for sleeping on the outdoor beds and even bath supplies and towels, plenty of board games and DVDs for the kiddos too. Owner responds quickly to email. Scenery was breathtaking! We hiked, we relaxed, slept under the stars and simply had a wonderful weekend. It's obvious Matthew takes pride in the rental. It feels like you are completely isolated from the outside world, it was our own oasis. We didn't leave the property at all. I really can't begin to put into words just how much we all enjoyed our stay... from grandparents, parents and kids, there really was something for everyone. Would repeat this trip in a heartbeat! Thank you Matthew for a wonderful Spring Break getaway!
