Overview

About the property

2 bedroom, 2 full bath, solar powered house, outdoor hot tub, priceless land

It's like being in your own private National Park. Experience Joshua Tree dessert first hand without neighbors. You're surrounded by thousands of acres of wilderness. Hop on large boulders, explore miles of trails, observe active desert wildlife.

The home is 100% solar powered, off the grid, and with tasty well water. Discover movie props, Rock City and Coyote Hole.

IF YOU WANT A DESERT ADVENTURE... THIS IS IT!!! It's an amazing, exclusive one of a kind property. Glamp away.

It's only 2 miles from the town of Joshua Tree and 3 miles from the Western entrance to the National Park.

The house is comfortable and has everything you need. The WIFI is good and there's great cell service. Enjoy the wood burning hot tub, fire pit, and wood burning stove. Browse the eclectic library in the media den. The house is styled Mid Century Kitch.

Great for families, romantic getaways, friends' reunions, holidays, artists, rock scramblers, hikers, and those who want to get away from it all. It's very special for those who have a deep spiritual connection to nature.

Amateur PHOTOGRAPHERS: Take amazing shots. Bring a tripod and take photos at night of the stars and landscape.

STAR GAZERS. (Turn off all white light and only turn on the special red lights. That way you see much better in the dark.)

HIKERS: Take the path from the house down directly to the landmark COYOTE HOLE. Look closely and you'll see ancient Indian Petroglyphs, as the land has been populated for centuries by indigenous peoples.

Don’t miss ROCK CITY, a functioning outdoor set for a Survivalist movie project I'm working on. We've had many film and photo shoots. Clients include Calvin Klein 30th mens underwear campaign, Paul and Joe, Brooks Brothers, Doc Marten, etc.

Film Location: Starts at $1000 a day

Photo Shoots: Start at $850 a day

Weddings: Start at $2500

Parties: Start at $1500

Unauthorized activities will be charged $6000 a day.

Matthew Patrick purchased this house in 1992

Why Matthew Patrick chose California Desert

When I took a trip out to Joshua Tree Monument (now called Joshua Tree National Park), I fell in love with its, unusual beauty. It wasn't far from Los Angeles, and yet it felt like another world. I wanted to have land as much like the Park as I could. So I purchased a 2.5 acre piece in 1992. I camped on it often. My favorite thing was (and still is) to sleep outside under the stars.

As time went on, I bought the parcels around me. Personally the size and scope of it still blows me away. To walk the perimeter can take a day.

Strangely, or not so strangely, people tell me they become connected to the rocks in a primitive way. It helps them put life in perspective and is good for body and soul. I feel that way too. JTP has been a great retreat for myself and friends. Now, in 2012 I open it to you.

Every picture was taken on the property... guaranteed. You will take amazing photos too.

What makes this house unique

Joshua Tree is a spiritual center and High Desert Vacation Mecca. Joshua Tree Paradise is on a priceless 100 acre piece of property that is adjacent to the park.

There are many enjoyable and at times odd adventures to be had. Listen to live music at Pappy and Harriets. Go antiquing, and to the swap meet, where amazing stuff turns up.

If you're a rock climber, you already know Joshua Tree National Park is one of the most famous and amazing places to climb in the world.

THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE JOSHUA TREE.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thanks so much Matthew. Your beautiful slice of paradise is also my favorite place which is why I keep coming back so long as you'll have me. I'm no artist, just a stress filled guy who needs his "me" time. JTP is the perfect place. I find it calming and spiritual and it literally transforms me if only for a few days. I have checked out your other websites and the blogs and so on. Very fascinating! Those funny videos were great. What an amazing talent you have. Great work! And not to mention academy nominated for your short film.... PRICELESS!

Thanks so much for everything Matthew... I greatly appreciate you being so kind.

Overall the property is very clean, comfortable and secluded.

  • 5 of 5

Six of us stayed at JTP to celebrate my 60th birthday. It was awesome!!!! We went exploring as soon as we got there. What an amazing property, there is tons to explore right at your backdoor. We brought all the food we needed and cooked all of our meals there. The kitchen was adequately equipped for all of our needs. We went hiking during the day and star gazing at night. I can see why people rent this property more than once. I will definitely recommend it to friends and if I return to Joshua tree I will stay here again.

Amazing rocks, Great sunsets and Views!

  • 5 of 5

This house was just what we were looking for in a rental by Joshua Tree National Park. The house was comfortable and fully equipped for all of our needs. It was close by the western entrance to Joshua Tree, but the location was very private. We could eat outside and enjoy an amazing sunset or view of the rocks or town of Joshua Tree. My only regret is that we did not stay a day or two longer.

Fantastic setting & great house!

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time. We loved the house and had fun exploring on and off the trails on the property. Also, it was great to be so close to the park entrance. I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Very scenic, lovely location

  • 5 of 5

We came out as a family with our two young children (3 and 4) it was lovely to get some Sun (even if it wasn't super warm in January it was a lot warmer and dryer than Seattle) and just opening the door and then having a massive area for the kids to run around and explore the rocks was awesome. The stars at night were very clear and the wood-fired hot tub was a very cool concept. You're also on the road to the Park entrance, so getting into the Park was easy. Would definitely recommend, the property itself is well equipped, but what really makes it is the incredibly unique setting. The property is very well managed, clear instructions and no issues with checkin, check-out. It's also very cool that the property is basically solar powered, but there is a generator should you need it. And there's no TV signal, but the property has an extensive collection of DVDs as well as hook ups for Chromecast and Apple TV so given the decent wifi you can basically stream whatever you like, though ideally you're spending time outside rather than watching television.

Stunning!

  • 5 of 5

This was my 5th time staying at JTP and that says a lot. I just cant get enough of this place. It is beyond beautiful, serene, peaceful and... Simply Amazing! The house itself is totally comfortable and has everything one could need but it's the land that is spectacular and where one would want to spend most of their time, weather permitting. Matthew the owner is such a nice guy and truly a pleasure to work with. I look forward to my future visits to JTP so long as Matthew would have me. Thank you Matthew!

Great Place to Getaway in JT

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for off the beaten track, this is it...in the best possible way. Great house that's totally off the grid and but has all the modern comforts. Amazing property to explore...while the National Park is stunning and just a short drive away, honestly you don't even need to leave, there are so many hikes to take, places to explore and rocks to climb. The VRBO and house website are very accurate in what you can expect on site. A truly special place - can't wait to go back!
