Why Owner chose Drake
We love the outdoors! As a family who loves nature and the outdoor adventure, we couldn't ask for a greater spot than this. The river is literally on our doorsteps. It is amazing to be surrounded by the beauty of the Rocky Mountains and the diversity and adventure of Estes Park Surrounded by amazing views of Wildlife, Beautiful scenery and lots of activities to drive to, or to hike through!
What makes this Cottage unique
We can't say enough about the environment of this cottage and the feeling of history one feels while staying here. Lisa's favorite parts of this property are the feeling of History compete with the old wooden floors, and the single paned windows. Shane loves the outdoor features; the sound of the river, the feeling of nature all around, and the abundant opportunity to experience the outdoors by foot, and car.

Don’t think you could find a more reasonable priced place to stay in the Estes Park area. However the roaring waters that run directly behind the cottage makes this cottage worth it’s weight in gold!!!! After renting this cottage several times and vacationing Estes Park, I haven’t seen a place more conveniently located to town with such amazing scenery.
Fun weekend get away
We didn’t arrive until midnight due to flight delays so when we discovered the windows open in the sub 50 degree weather we were worried we’d be too cold to sleep. However, it warmed up right away and we had no problem sleeping. Everyone agreed that the beds were very comfortable. We had a problem with dirty sheets on one bed the first night, but the owner apologized, gave us a very plausible explanation and quickly rectified the situation the next afternoon. The area is not well lit and we had a little difficulty finding the house a few times, since we always arrived after dark, but using our bright headlights helped. We didn’t have a long visit so we never really took advantage of using the nice backyard or screened porch. But we thoroughly enjoyed the sound of the river from the bedrooms. The instructions left by the owner were helpful and complete. We appreciated that the kitchen was stocked with coffee and filters along with refrigerated perishables that we forgot to purchase. The cabin is cute and cozy and I wouldn’t hesitate to return if we visit Estes Park again.
Down to Earth Paradise by the River
This cabin is such an amazingly inviting, delightful place to feel at home while on vacation. It's a casual, cozy and fun habitat beside a particularly lovely section of river cascading over large boulders. If the beautiful water isn't enough entertainment, there's a ping pong table, barbecue, little wood burning fireplace, two-seater log bench swing overlooking the rushing river, and big TV with loads of movie options. Who could possibly ask for more?!
A Hidden Gem on the River
We absolutely loved our stay! The roaring river was our favorite! The location was perfect and the cabin was great! ONLY negative was it was hard to get in and out of parking with busy highway, but it was also a holiday weekend! We will definitely be back!
Great time. Shane helpful and informed us of history of cabin. We were from Illinois, Michigan and Colorado and coulf not have been more pleased. A work of God for sure.
A Trip Down Memory Lane
I'm a bit biased - my brother and I grew up with this house. My grandparents owned it from 1959-99 and we spent summers here. We wanted our kids to have similar memories so we were so excited when we found the cabin on VRBO and Lisa and Shane could not have been more gracious - they even put up photos of our grandparents! The upstairs loft brought back so many memories and our kids (ages 7 and 2) had so much fun playing up there just like my brother and I did. My husband, brother, sister-in-law and I had plenty of room and even though the cabin is small, we never felt like we were on top of each other. The kids loved skipping stones on the river, ziplining, and playing ping-pong. The only downside is the kitchen which is small (and it was small when our grandparents had it too - we just were smaller then!) and doesn't offer a lot of counter space which made food prep kind of challenging but not impossible.
We had a wonderful week and are already talking about when we will return. Thank you so much, Lisa and Shane. We really can't express how grateful we are that you have kept the cabin the same wonderful place that we remember!
We are so thankful that you found us again. We loved visiting with you about the cabin of yester year. Your stories, and the stories of your sweet Grandmother really helped us make this house feel more like a home!
Thanks again, Shane & Lisa
