Summer estate, 5 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 12), all w/ water views
Why Gordy Waterman chose Sedgwick
Purchased by our Grandfather because he loved the serenity of this part of the coast, the Punch Bowl property has been in the family for over 100 years. After losing the original home to fire in 96, the Punch Bowl house has been rebuilt with an open, friendly, light filled floor plan. It's quiet woods, private cove, and beach have remained the same.
What makes this Estate unique
The Punch Bowl sits on it's own neck of land down a long private driveway past stone gates and along the water. There are no other houses in view and anchorage in the Punch Bowl cove at a guest mooring is available for anything up to 30'. Isolated in all the ways you could wish, it is still convenient to shopping and the lovely, old fishing town of Stonington on Deer Isle.....all the lobsters you like right off the boat.
No fires outside the fireplace.
100% refund if cancelled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if cancelled at least 30 days before arrival date.
Amazing Maine Estate
We had the best time with a group of close friends at the Punch Bowl. Everything is exquisite. The kitchen fully stocked with whatever you might need. The views unparalleled. The beds are comfortable and every room has a view. Swimming, kayaking, trips to Deer Isle and Blue Hill. No complaints at all.
Perfect Family Time
The Punchbowl is magical. Something about the place just naturally generates happy moments and memories. We all slow down, ignore the news, read books, gaze across the water, collect shells, head out for a paddle, make a big dinner, tell stories, laugh, sit by the fire, and sleep deeply. The house itself is simple and beautiful: great stone fireplace, fun kitchen, generous dining table, spacious bedrooms, nice linens, and nothing beats the porch. Our toddlers enjoyed wading in the clear water looking for shells and crabs. So many quiet joys. This was our fourth summer visit and I hope for many more.
Our 3rd year at the Punch Bowl did not disappoint. Truly exceptional experience and house could not be more accommodating for a large group. Kids spent hours in the ping pong house and this year we rented kayaks and boards to explore. Lots of wildlife as well. Thank you Watermans again for another great week.
Our family had an unforgettable vacation at The Punch Bowl. The accommodations are lavishly outfitted, comfortable and generous; the natural beauty of the private peninsula is so singularly special; and the love and history of the seafaring family is wonderfully palpable. We swam in the cove, took out canoe and kayak, saw the resident bald eagle and other wildlife, picnicked in the ping-pong house and held a tournament, cooked lobster on the outdoor burners, lounged on the porch, and watched every sun set. It was everything we hoped our mini reunion would be.
Coast of Maine Escape
The Punch Bowl is an extraordinary place. The house is comfortable, relaxed, and totally equipped with everything you might need. The location is spectacular. I could live on the porch and watch the sun go down, the dolphins play out on reach, and the birds and boats fly by. We love getting together with old friends, cooking wonderful meals, playing music and getting much needed naps. The water is also amazingly swimmable for Northern Maine.
Spectacular accommodations, views and property!
My children and I enjoyed a week stay at the Punch Bowl last summer. Although I have spent many summers in Maine, I rarely made it to the coast. After our stay at the Punch Bowl I will never miss another summer on the water. The house is incredibly warm and inviting. The fireplace is beautiful, the views are exquisite and the kitchen, gourmet! My kids (ages 5 and 8) had an amazing time exploring the beach and tidal pools as well as trails through the woods. The seclusion was a much-needed break from the busyness of our daily lives. The short drives to local, picturesque towns were worth the trip but we enjoyed just relaxing both outdoors and in just as well. An absolutely wonderful experience!
This is rural coastline Maine....it's beautiful, and quiet....tide pools and wind in the pine trees. Cell service is better each year and the house provides DSL and WiFi for internet. If the sunsets and swimming aren't enough, Acadia Nat'l Park is an hour away....whale watching and great hiking trails. The house is airy and full of light, a massive fireplace for cool evenings, and there's a gazebo/ping pong house that's right on the rocks....great place for a stolen beer when we were kids, NOTE: our address, 79 Slver Mine Rd. in Sargentville is NOT recognized by Google maps but IS recognized by Apple maps....don't know why but there it is. Google map directions will drop you somewhere in the neighboring town of Sedgewick.
