Guesthouse/Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (2 Adults max), garage, private beach
About Nancy Nordfjord
My husband and I live on the property year-round, while most of our neighbors are summer residents. We were long-time professionals in the community. We love the area, our piece of this beach, and being able to share it with others.
Nancy Nordfjord purchased this Guest House in 1984
Why Nancy Nordfjord chose Traverse City
Our section of Bowers Harbor Beach is all pure, clean sand. Amazingly, it is not rocky and is pebble-free! We face southwest so sunset views happen on the beach with a fire in the fire container if you like - we supply the wood. It is the most beautiful beach and view in the area. The combination of gradual slope to deep water adds comfort and safety to water activities. We love the gorgeous east-to-west view of Bowers Harbor Marina, Traverse City (especially the lights at night), Power Island, Leelanau County and Neahtawanta Point. A very unique panoramic opportunity. Prior to 1984 we searched for years looking for everything this property has.
What makes this Guest House unique
Our house and guesthouse are in a neighborhood of older or newly restored summer homes. It is uniquely beautiful, quiet, and has the best beach anywhere - did I mention it's a perfect pure sand beach with NO STONES? The original guesthouse has been updated throughout. Please note - we can only rent to one or two adults; no children of any age are permitted.
No smoking anywhere on the property
One small quiet dog, kenneled when alone.
Children not allowed
Minimum age of primary renter:21
Max guests:2 (sleeps up to 2 adults)
We consider the 25' directly in front of the guesthouse for our renters' use only. We ask that you stay within that area when using the beach.
Only the two adult renters are allowed on the property. No extra people are allowed due to the quiet neighborhood setting.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property.

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend here at this cottage for our anniversary. Beautiful location on old Mission Penisula! Very private with having your own spot on the beach. The cottage had everything we needed and was very clean. We enjoyed having a bonfire on the beach at night and watching the sunset after spending the day going to local wineries and shopping in downtown Traverse City. Perfect place to stay!!
Rejuvenating setting for a great getaway!
This little guest house is set in the trees, with many windows to catch the breeze off the bay. The private beach is on a large protected cove to watch the sailboats and kayakers. Very clean. Had everything we needed!
Perfect place to unwind
We stayed here for a week and had a wonderful time! Nancy was a super helpful and accommodating host. The beach is exactly as described -- pure sand all the way out. We loved playing fetch with our dog, paddleboarding, and reading by the water. There is also a short hiking trail at Pyatt Lake Nature Preserve that you can reach on foot. Bowers Harbor vineyard is within walking distance, and there is a nice park next door with a paved walking trail. Anything else that you could want to do is just a short drive away (wineries, restaurants, parks, etc.). Highly recommend this spot!
Perfect cozy getaway!
Beautiful guest cottage steps from Lake Michigan. Awesome hosts made for a perfect quick getaway! Highly recommend.
This guesthouse it the best!
I rented this guesthouse because it was updated and directly on the beach and offered a garage to park my convertible in. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much space the guesthouse offered and what great condition the place was it. If offered everything I needed and direct access to a nice sandy beach on TC Bay. Great choice, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet get away:)
Excellent location. Well maintained property.
Please note: We do not begin the booking process each year until March 1st - please do not inquire until 3/1/2020.
The water level of the Great Lakes is now higher than it has been in recent history. The beach area is now smaller than it was previously, but it's still great. Our beach is unique in that it's all pure sand with literally no rocks except those put in many years ago along the bank of the beach, and no rocks that guests need to walk on. The pathway is all sand as is the beach area. There are only 26 houses on this strip of beach, and other than public beaches in Traverse City, there is no other beach like it. The property is a beautiful and quiet place where tranquility and peacefulness abound. Many people have told us they have felt renewed by their time spent here. Some of our guests enjoy all of the experiences Traverse City and the surrounding area has to offer and some just want to stay on our amazing beach for their entire stay. Rentals of bikes, paddle boards and kayaks are available to rent in Traverse City.
