I am a father of 2 boys (ages 8 and 10) who are my life! We love being at the cottage and doing all there is to do in this very special spot!
Cory Robertson purchased this cottage in 2006
My mother's family is from Grand Haven, and I have been summering here my whole life. I wanted to be out at the beach, but also wanted to be near enough to the pier to walk everywhere. Our home sits right on the edge of Mulligan's Hollow for hiking, trail-riding, dog-walking and wildlife adventuring! We are so close to the beach that you can come up and down all day for supplies, naps, snacks, tantrums without giving up your whole day at the beach.
My hammock is my favorite afternoon spot when the boys go down for their nap after a day at the beach.
Walking the beach early morning and at sunset is heavenly.
The Musical Fountain is as charming and gratifying as it is hokey. Who cares if it is silly? You're eating Dairy Treat on a hillside over the river with a 1000 others who have completely forgotten last week's rat-race and are embracing a wonderful summer ritual in Grand Haven. This is not to be missed!
My newly wed husband and I were looking for a relaxing escape for a few days to recuperate. The cottage was perfect for this! Everything was clean and orderly. Only a few minute walk to the beach and there were nearby wooded parks for walking as well. Parking was very close to the house. I would suggest having an umbrella if it is raining. The outdoor shower with hot water was great for rinsing off feet after walking along the beach.
2 Quick Suggestions:
1) Putting trash bags in the bathroom trash cans. I didn't search through the cabinets to find trash bags so I am not sure if there were any. But I put old grocery store bags that I had in my car in the bathroom trash cans. I always try to consolidate all our trash before leaving into one bag for easier clean up for the owner. Trash bags also means that hopefully the actual cans don't have to be cleaned out so frequently.
2) Disposing the used bars of soap in the shower. We brought our own toiletries to use, but we thought it was odd to see used bars of soap in the shower.
We had a short but very sweet stay at, Mary Anne. Nice location, very close to the beach and even closer if you don't mind a steep trip down the sidewalk. It's a loved and well equipped home. The stairwell to the upstairs is a bit treacherous, but that can be expected in a cottage of this age. We loved it and found it perfectly accommodating. The owner was very kind and helpful. I would consider renting there again.
We've stayed at this sweet cottage several times over the past few years and enjoyed each getaway. For families vacationing together this cottage is just perfect offering both hikes in the woods or lazy days at the beach. Can't wait till next year!
The cottage is cozy, but with the 5 bedrooms, extra bed on porch, 3 showers and big dining area and living room, it suited us just fine. Had a great week with plenty of sunshine and enjoyed a few fires at night. Our family had a lot of fun. Plenty of games, toys, chairs, and beach gear.
The house is very spacious and the wooden floors (and outdoor shower) are perfect for just returning from the beach. The neighbors were very friendly and it seems like you can do just about anything in Grand Haven. We had a great experience.
Wonderful cottage. Went in the off season so it was very quiet. Amenities were off the hook, we wanted for nothing. Will definitely be booking again!
