Almost wonderful stay

  • 4 of 5

The house was fantastic! It was roomy and spacious. Nothing seemed out of date. Plenty of sleeping space for my large family. The owner was great to work with. We had a rental that fell through at the last minute and the owner was understanding and patient that we had to wait for our refund check from the first property. The house is for sale which would not have been an issue normally. The owner contacted me on Friday night to let me know a realtor was bringing a potential buyer to look at the house on Saturday. The owner never directly told me that my family needed to not be there, but implied we might be out during the hour long visit. I felt very uncomfortable with the thought of leaving my family's belongings unsecured while strangers walked among them. When the realtor showed up with the buyers, we told them that we didn't mind them coming in for a few minutes but that an hour seemed excessive. They politely left. It was just an inconvenience on what otherwise would have been a beautiful family vacation. And best of all my niece got engaged while we were there! So there are memories of this trip to last our family a lifetime.

Very Nice

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed our week at the Last Resort in Emerald Isle, NC. The house was very comfortable open and clean. With a well equipped kitchen we enjoyed cooking. The sunsets on the sound side in the evening were spectacular. Our grandkids loved all the decks and the dock.. They had a great time at the beach as well as catching crabs from the dock..The owners were great to answer any questions that we had. Would definitely recommend anyone staying there..

Great home and great location!

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at "The Last Resort"! We have vacationed several times in Emerald Isle; it is our family's favorite beach destination. This was our first time renting a VRBO rather than one of the main realty companies and it was a great experience. This home is situated in an ideal part of the island (we like to be in the middle area - away from the shopping and "tourist" area). The home was much more spacious than expected from the photos and very comfortable. The sound side decks are situated so they get a lot of ocean breeze making them very comfortable and enjoyable. The reverse floor plan provided great ocean views as well as the sound side view. Renting paddle boards, as well as fishing and crabbing off the dock were great sound side acitivites. The company we rented the boards from dropped them off and picked them up. The owner was very prompt at anwering questions and providing information for our stay. The ocean was our prime destination and it was only a short walk to the ocean although you do need to cross a road (Emerald Drive) that can be busy. The house itself was wonderful - well equipped, clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back if we had the chance.

Fabulous week!

  • 5 of 5

The Last Resort was perfect for our family vacation. Plenty of room, very clean, and provided views of the ocean and bay that were incredible. We took lots of pictures of the sunset over the bay and full moon over the ocean . The bay was great for splashing around - at high tide it was less than 4 ft deep, and low tide only 2 feet or so with a sandy bottom... very fun to float around on the tubes or jet ski if you're taking a break from the waves on the ocean side. The screened in porch provided a perfect place to have a glass of wine and watch the sunset.

Island Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My extended family loved this place. Clean and lots of room to spread out with the decks and different levels.

It was a treat to have a place that we could watch the sunrise and sunset from the same deck. And, the beach was so handy and fun for us. None of us had been to NC before, and this place will be hard to top in future vacations. A rental place two miles up the road will deliver and pickup kayaks and paddle boards.

This was our first stay at a VRBO, and it was a great experience. Highly recommend it.

Great fit for extened family and friends

  • 5 of 5

The Last Resort was a great house for our party of 10, there was plenty of living space both inside and out on the large decks. The views were wonderful, we enjoyed watching the sunset every night, and from standing in the middle of the house you can see both the intercostal and the ocean. Having the dock available was very nice and we were able to kayak around the intercostal easily. We also enjoyed having a screened in porch with a dinning table, having the outdoor shower, and that the kitchen was very well stocked! Overall The Last Resort was a great place to spend a long weekend and we would definitely come back!
