Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)
Why John Hilbert chose Estate Carolina
We just love the peace and quiet of Coral Bay and the view from the cottage is spectacular! We bought this particular house because the drive to the house is up a simple straight concrete road with no switchbacks and no issues
What makes this Cottage unique
The porch and view for this price is undoubtably the best feature of Blue Wrasse Cottage but the accessibility is also wonderful. Many if not most rentals on St John require a SUV to get to them and have harrowing drives around steep turns and in many cases unpaved roads. Not at Blue Wrasse Cottage - simple easy drive straight up a concrete road!

Cozy cottage with fantastic deck and amazing views!
Blue Wrasse was the perfect get-away spot for us. The cottage was very clean when we arrived. Communication with Tom and Jackie was fantastic. They reached out to us a few days before our arrival to be sure that they could answer any questions we had and also to be sure that we understood how to access the cottage. Both Tom and Jackie are a pleasure to talk with and you know they are there to help in anyway they can. John, the property owner, is available as well via VRBO messages and wants to ensure that your stay is above expectations.
The area is nice and quite. The cottage is located close by Skinny Legs, Miss Lucy's, Rhum Line, The Oasis and Aqua Bistro. So if you are visiting on-season, you have plenty of options to choose from. Or you can always make your own meals in the cottage.
The views are absolutely amazing. You are facing east, so you get beautiful sunrises and gorgeous sunsets shining on Coral Bay.
The newly expanded upper deck and the new lower deck provide such a nice place to relax and take in the views. We really enjoyed just sitting on the swing, watching the sunset and listening to the sounds of nature; so relaxing, I would about fall asleep!
Note that the description of the cottage is accurate. It is cozy and comfortable. And, as the description points out, the cottage is on a hillside and there are about 82 steps down to cottage, which means 82 steps back UP to the driveway. Not a problem for my partner and I, but something to consider if you or one of your party have issues with steps.
We highly recommend Blue Wrasse and look forward to booking a return trip soon.

Thanks so much for your fantastic review and for being the first to experience our new deck! We look forward to welcoming you to Blue Wrasse again in the future!
Staying here was an incredible experience! Our hosts, Tom and Jackie, we’re amazing. They made us feel welcome, like we were part of the family welcome! They made the check-in process smooth and were quick to answer any questions we had. They also made great recommendations for places to eat - post Irma and Maria.
Staying here felt like we were the only ones staying on the side of a mountain! The stairs are a lot but it’s more than worth it for the incredible location. We rented both floors and it was more than enough space for four. The upper level is uniquely set up with a loft bedroom that’s reminiscent of bunk beds and a futon in the main room. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare everything from snacks to meals. The bathroom/shower is unique and was intimidating at first but by the end of the trip we wished we had a semi-outdoor shower at home! The upstairs was spotless and Tom and Jackie had left us fresh flowers which was a very nice and appreciated touch!
There’s a small patio area with a bench swing that was great to relax in. The property is very private so it was nice to sit back and just enjoy the moment outside. There is also a screened in porch area where we could sit if the mosquitos got too much, but there weren’t actually many mosquitoes overall.
The lower level was spotless as well and has a bathroom too which was useful. The bathroom is separated by a curtain so keep that in mind if it’s more than one person staying down there but for us it was a non-issue. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.
There’s snorkeling gear which turned out to be a big plus for us too. There’s also a ton of other beach gear to use which left us with the only question being, which beach did we want to go to that day! We saw everything from tree frogs to iguanas, this property makes you feel part of the surrounding forest!
If I could give 10 stars I would. A huge thank you to Tom and Jackie for making our stay a 10 star experience. There’s a lot of stairs to reach the property so be prepared for that. That being said, I highly recommend this property for anyone coming to St. John and we hope to be back ourselves soon!
Great (and detailed) review! Thanks so much for coming and enjoying Blue Wrasse! We are in the midst of some improvements as we enlarge and extend the outdoor deck area to include outdoor dining in the future. Come again to see all the changes!
It was perfect for us. My son and I took his son, my grandson, for a right of passage- from adolescence to manhood. He is 13. He loved the loft. This was just right for soaking in the beauty of God's creation from this lovely cottage.
Thanks for the wonderful review! We look forward to seeing you next time!
This cute this house buried down under the 85 steps that lead down to it was nothing less than amazing. The house was perfect for my husband and I on our honeymoon. The views are incredible, the wildlife is everywhere, and did I mention the views are INCREDIBLE! You can hear the music from Aqua Bistro at night on Fridays and Saturdays, while you relax on the porch swing. This was our first time on St. John, and if we ever make it back here, THIS is the spot we will be looking to rent. Everything was clean, there were plenty of extra toiletries so when I realized I didn't have enough sunblock, the property managers Tom and Jackie made sure to let us know to feel free to use what was at the house. In fact, Tom and Jackie made us feel like we were at home before we even left the states! I will say that it took a couple days for my body to get used to the stairs, but there is so much nature to look at along the way that I didn't even care about the burn... I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a vacation that shows you what the atmosphere of St. John is all about!
We'll be back SOON!
John is very good about responding to ALL questions! Tom and Jackie are the BEST managers ever (very personable)! YES...we would stay here again!!! It's "cozy" and has everything you need right down to a wonderful assortment of snorkel equipment, beach chairs, a cooler and insulated beach bag. It lacks for nothing! We found the views amazing and the surroundings very peaceful. We are repeat visitors to St. John (past Estate Concordia customers) and are thrilled to find a new place to stay when visiting Coral Bay and St. John again...miss it already! Be sure to take Cruz Bay Watersports' tour at the Westin to the Baths (BVI) and visit the Lime Out floating Taco Bar at Hansen Beach, but most of all ENJOY your time at the Blue Wrasse as we did!
Come again any time!!!!!!
We booked Blue Wrasse for a week vacation for my husband, me and our two daughters ages 14 and 19. This place was perfect! It has a great mix of being not to fussy - simple cabin construction deep in the hillside - but still super comfy with great beds, AC, fantastic views from every room including the shower. The girls shared the bed in the loft and were happy to have that camp-like experience. Blue Wrasse provided all the beach chairs, snorkeling gear and towels we needed - so convenient to get to all the incredible beaches. We also loved just hanging out in the screen porch and in the deck. The place faces east, so in the afternoon you are shaded, in the breeze, watching the sunset on the islands. Great happy hour light show!
So glad you enjoyed your stay!
