Subway proximity is the highest priority for New Yorkers. The Lorimer L train to Manhattan and Metropolitan G train to downtown Brooklyn are half a block away at the corner at Union/Metropolitan.
Our 3-unit townhouse is perfectly situated on a quiet residential street yet just around the corner from Brooklyn's hippest new neighborhood: Williamsburg. The area is packed with cute restaurants and bars, from Peruvian steak houses to French bistros and even a German beer & barbecue. The neighborhood is also a magnet for young people moving to the city and an influential hub for indie rock, hipster culture, and the local art community.
We are amazingly close to downtown Manhattan, Times Square, Soho and Tribeca via the popular L TRAIN subway line that's just a 1-minute walk from the townhouse and then a 5 minute ride into Manhattan. We're at the LORIMER stop.
This apartment is on the third floor of the building with a private entrance. The living room is comfortable with all new furniture and two northern windows overlooking the private courtyard and carriage house behind the home. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything from wine glasses and coffee mugs to silverware, china, coffee maker and cookware so you should feel right at home.
The apartment can accommodate up to five guests: The bedroom has a queen bed which sleeps 2. There is a cozy little second bedroom, or 'den' off the main bedroom with bunk beds, a south facing window and privacy door for another guest.
There is also a self-inflating queen-size AeroBed that sleeps two and comes with sheets, bedding and pillows. Its built-in pump inflates in just 1 minute and deflates just as quickly. While this isn't a traditional mattress is is quite comfortable for extra guests, and can be easily set up in the living room.
The entire apartment has brand new furnishings, linens and kitchen equipment and is a perfect home base for your trip to New York City.
NOTE: We do have three rentals in this same townhouse if this one is booked. Check out Listing #318560 to see our Garden Apartment and Listing #321592 for our Parlor Apartment.

My partner and I both work in Manhattan and take the L Train in every day. I'm a television producer, my partner is in a Broadway musical every night, and our daughter attends 4th grade in the city. I'm from Toledo, Ohio and my partner is from Melbourne, Australia so we have LOTS of family and friends visiting us all year round who now stay in our rental apartment and use it as their home-away-from-home. We love helping them find their way around the city and will gladly offer you a few suggestions about NYC as well.
Sean M Hingston purchased this townhome in 2010
We bought this townhouse in 2010 after living in the middle of Manhattan for 16 years and have fallen in love with our new neighborhood. Our previous neighborhood was very old-school residential with massive apartment buildings, while Williamsburg is filled with 3-story townhouses like ours where the neighbors all sit on the front steps and enjoy the street life. The huge influx of artists and young people who recently 'found' the neighborhood because of it's close proximity to Manhattan and relatively inexpensive housing make for a VERY interesting mix on the street and we love it.
What's great about staying in Williamsburg is the EASY access to all the major sites around NYC: Union Square Shopping and Farmers' market, Times Square, Broadway, Macy's, the Empire State Building, all the museums, Central Park and the Statue of Liberty. But what's really enjoyable and a real delight are the VERY walkable streets around us packed with both the old-world shops (the perfect cappuccino at Setti Pani bakery) side-by-side with the new art galleries, trendy clothing stores and fun finds (graphic comics books from around the world at Sparacino's). Dont leave W'burg without trying breakfast at House of Small Wonders - just around the corner on Skillman. Extra Queen size inflatable Aero Bed in all apartments.
Five Stars out of Five
I have to say that my stay in the Williamsburg apartment exceeded my expectations. The directions and access information which I received by email before arrival were excellent and I had no trouble obtaining the keys. The top floor apartment where I stayed consisted of large lounge/living space, a kitchen and bathroom at the back, a large bedroom at the front of the house with an adjoining smaller bedroom. The photos on the website are good, but it looks even better in reality.
First impressions were great: spotlessly clean, quiet and secure, well organised kitchen, plenty space, hardwood floors. Every piece of equipment and utensils for modern living were available. Cooking utensils, cutlery, good selection of dishes, glasses, pots and pans. Cooker, immaculate fridge, kettle, dining bar, storage space, ironing board and iron - basically a home from home. Soap, shampoo, washing liquid, toilet tissue and other products thoughtfully provided. Electrical equipment, TV/Cable/DVD/WiFi/Vacuum cleaner, all worked perfectly during my month's stay.
Particularly useful was the blow up double bed which I used for guests at one point - very comfortable. (There was plenty extra bedding too) Sean and Brad lived nearby and were easily accessible through email/phone if there was anything needed. They had left a great selection of information on local amenities which was very useful on arrival. The street itself is quiet, tree-lined, 'old-style' Brooklyn. It was my first stay in the Borough and I took to Williamsburg right away.
The Subway is right round the corner barely a minute's walk (ten minutes into Union Square Manhattan), and there is every kind of shop you would need within a stone's throw. The streets between the apartment and the East River contain innumerable bars restaurants and shops of all ethnicities. You will never be bored. I went many long walks exploring the area, day and night, and never had any problems. I would recommend the apartment and loved that part of Brooklyn. Will definitely return soon. PS....Bamonte's restaurant, a few streets away, was a favourite of mine. It was used in 'The Soprano's' ;-)
We were very pleased with this rental for our son's graduation. The location was ideal...just a block and a bit to the L line and then we were in Manhattan in no time. I was a little concerned about parking our car but we had no problem finding street parking close by. The apartment had everything we needed. There is a fully equipped kitchen, which I had not intention of using, (we were in New York after all), but if one wanted to cook it is all there. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of linens and towels for our use. The owners were responsive, helpful and kind. As an added bonus there is a sweet little garden out front. We would return again in a heartbeat.
Perfect place, perfect location. Of the many places i have stayed at in NYC, this one takes the price.
Owners are communicative and helpful, renting it was insanely easy and the flat itself is perfect, good size and good kitchen.
Sean couldn't have been more helpful in the lead up to and during our stay - always quick to respond to any questions. Fantastic location, (relative) calmness of Brooklyn allied to ease of access to Manhattan (L line literally around the corner) in an area that has plenty of places to eat and drink. Apartment has everything you could need, and comfortably took two adults and three children (two in bunkbeds, one toddler). Couldn't recommend more
Lovely apartment on the top floor of the building. Exactly as described - well decorated, very comfortable beds, perfect for travelling as a couple with 2 children who could be put in the bunk room accessed through the main bedroom. No problems with noise from anywhere, aircon fine and powerful enough even at 94f in August. Street parking stress free. Public transport was straightforward and close to the subway day to day, and easy access to the airports on the way out.
Great communication by the owners, all straightforward, and a useful manual on arrival with restaurant and other recommendations.
Neighbourhood very cool - way more fun and relaxing than staying in Manhattan for the price - and the walk to the East River Ferry, as an alternative to the subway, picking up bagels and coffee en route takes you through some interesting and hip areas. We will return - sans kids - to explore and enjoy it in the future. Brooklyn has a lot to offer and we could have happily spent a week just there.
Loved this place! Centrally located; and if you wanted to go to Manhattan the Metro stop was just a 2 minute walk away! Will definitely stay at this place again!
Perfect for us - Two adults and one child, there for business and sightseeing. Nothing too fancy or "frilly", just basic but secure and clean digs tastefully furnished in a nice neighborhood and VERY handy to Manhattan subway. All for a fair price. The second bedroom (with the bunkbed) is accessed through the master bedroom. Netflix and Blu-ray TV was nice for relaxing. WiFi worked great. Streets were busier weekend nights than they were during the day - nice nightlife, particularly on close by Bedford Ave. My only pause - I did not notice a fire escape for this 3 story apartment - paranoids beware!
McCaren Park is only five blocks away. There is a running track and baseball fields and lovely grounds for an afternoon stroll and people watching.
