About Judith Philipps
We came for a one-time Hawaiian vacation, fell in love with Maui and The Mahana, and decided to make it a permanent part of our lives! We call Cody, WY home, with all its beautiful mountain scenery and Yellowstone Park just an hour away, but the view of the Pacific from the comforts of our own chairs keeps calling us back! We love to travel, but a part of our winters will be spent in this wonderful condo on this most beautiful spot of Maui! We hope that you will love the experience, and deem it a delight to return to again and again!
Judith Philipps purchased this Condo in 2010
Why Judith Philipps chose Lahaina
Maui has been voted “Best Island” by readers of Conde Nast Traveler for more than a dozen years. Maui has endless activities for vacationers, from fabulous beaches to fantastic dining and nightlife. Come see all that Maui has to offer! Helicopter tours are an excellent way to take in the views of the whole island, including incredible waterfalls, sea cliffs and forests you would be hard pressed to view on foot. For those looking for closer views, you can take an ATV tour, or check out the Zip Lines at Kapalua or the West Maui mountains. Of course, there is the 'Road to Hana', but Hana is not the real objective. The road curves, the waterfalls, the incredible views of the ocean, the many bays (Nuaailua Bay at Keanae and Aunty Sandy's banana bread), or Waianapanapa State Park with its beautiful black sand beach are the main attractions. If you’re curious about what goes on above and/or under the waves, snorkeling or scuba tours are a great way to view the incredible variety of life that lives under the surface of the ocean. If you don’t want to get wet, there’s even a submarine that can take you into the deep while you view its mysteries from the comfort of a dry cabin. Of course, there is always a sunset cruise around the island for a very memorable evening! But the perfect ending to any day on Maui can be found right on your own private lanai - your 'Home-Away-From-Home", where you can kick off your shoes, and still see and hear the ocean! A Tropical Delight!
What makes this Condo unique
The Mahana is unique in the fact that it is within feet of a beach, and has private lanais looking directly at the beach and the Pacific Ocean. Located on the northwest side of the island, it is at the north end of the wonderful Ka'anapali Beach. That means that all of the benefits of Ka'anapali Beach are within walking distance - great snorkeling, the Boardwalk, restaurants, and Whaler's Village - to name a few - but you are in a quieter, more relaxed setting. The Mahana is not far from Lahaina. Once the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom in the early nineteenth century, Lahaina was also a historic whaling village during the whaling boom of the mid-1800’s. Today, the city blends its rich history with today's many modern activities creating a wonderful tropical paradise.

Mahalo for choosing 1117 at the Mahana. Judith
We had a great stay here. The location is wonderful. Spent a lot of time whale watching from the deck. Kitchen is well equipped, and the property manager was very helpful. There's games and some beach equipment provided which was great. Thanks!
Thank you for your kind words, and for helping a past guest retrieve their forgotten belongings! This was very helpful to Leanna and her staff, as we try to help guests before, during, and after a stay. I'm very happy that you enjoyed your stay!

Oceanfront stay, close to everything
Stayed in this apartment in winter of 2019 and witnessed beautiful sunsets and slept to the sound of waves every night. The ocean is just a gaze away and calming and blissful. The location is unbeatable with access to beautiful Kaanapali beach within 3 miles, Napili Bay for snorkeling a 15 minute drive away and boardwalk connecting to Whalers Village. As a family looking for amenities close by plus onsite and nearby beach activities, the location cannot be beat. On evenings we wanted to just dial down, we cooked in the amply equipped kitchen or ambled to the off-grid-style food truck location right next to the complex and streamed shows on the Roku box TV, all the while taking in the lovely ocean views. What more can one ask for! Will be back for more if stars align. Thanks hosts for making this apartment available.
Very pleased with the one bedroom condo. Clean, close to food trucks, shopping, and super ocean view.
Mahalo Lonnie! I’m happy your time at Mahana 1117 in Maui was enjoyable. Judith
Great location! Perfect View!
Beautiful place! The Mahana is in a great neighborhood with coffee, grocery shopping, and several other food options a short walk away. The beach is beautiful and this high floor unit has the perfect view. It sits right next to the ocean so you can doze off to sleep to the soothing sounds of waves crashing on the beach below. And, the sunsets are to die for! We highly recommend this place.
Thank you, Brian! The Mahana is in a remarkable place with many amenities within walking distance. As for the sunsets, I agree with you; AND every night is new! I am very happy that you had a wonderful day, and I thank you for the kind words about 1117. Mahalo - Judith
Unit 1117 MAHANA
Everything here was extraordinarily perfect. We will always return here even though we bought a timeshare from Westin. We can use that somewhere else. Their villas don’t come close to 1117 MAHANA -truly an experience in paradise.!!!
James, thank you so much for all your kind words! I totally agree with you on how much better 1117 Mahana is over many of the resort condos including Westin. When sitting on the lanai or even in the living area of 1117, you look directly onto the Pacific Ocean with no corners or trees to crane your neck around! When leaving Mahana's building, you are steps, not blocks, from the beach, the water and even the Boardwalk that will take you to many of the various water activities and wonderful restaurants and shopping. When next planning your trip to Maui, I look forward to hearing from you. - Mahalo nui loa, Judith
You can walk along the beach for about a mile without leaving the sand! The Beach Boardwalk is minutes from the condo and goes for about 3 miles (along the beach and through a few resorts). On the Boardwalk, you'll find restaurants (Duke's Beach House is the closest, and there are a few in Whaler's Village - Leilani's and Hula Grill, to name a couple), rental kiosks (paddle boards, kayaks, surfboards, snorkels, etc.), as well as art kiosks, and clothing kiosks. There also is Whaler's Village which has many shops to peak your interest.
