Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 7)
My girlfriend and I are freelance artists. I am a musician and she is a writer. We often travel for work. The rental of the cabin is our supplemental income. We hope you enjoy it.
George purchased this Cabin in 2005
Why George chose Jefferson
We built this cabin and every detail, down to the custom bookshelves, was handcrafted. The perfect distance away from NYC, and situated near enough to local villages for convenience items, but remote enough in the woods as to be ideal. Also the stream and swimming pond on our land are a big plus.
What makes this Cabin unique
Privacy, the bucolic setting, the pond, living in nature, our land, the frogs at dusk in springtime, cross country skiing or hiking trails.. the list is too long...
Minimum age of primary renter:25
Strictly NO DRIVING OF MOTORIZED VEHICLES ON PROPERTY AND GARDENS
100% refund if cancelled at least 14 days before arrival date. 50% refund if cancelled at least 7 days before arrival date.
Fun country living
Our grandsons (10 & 7) had a great time playing in the pond and around the lovely yard. We were able to visit a number of places in Cooperstown, some parks, and Howe Cavern.
Perfect weekend away 7/26-7/30
George and Katy's cabin was absolutely perfect for our get away. We were looking for a summer destination to disconnect and relax, couldn't have found a better place. Privacy, beautiful views, pond, fire pit, large yard to play. Lots of stars to gaze at night. The owners were amazing and accommodating. Thanks again for everything George!
Awesome cabin to get away from it all
My family (wife and two kids) rented George & Katy’s cabin for a long weekend to visit my niece who was graduating from high school. George was very responsive to all communications whether it be text, phone or email. Speaking with him ahead of time almost made me feel like I was staying at a friends house when I arrived.
The cabin is awesome. Very cool architecture and decorations throughout. It was amazing to see how tightly the logs fit together. The stairs didn’t even creak (like mine at home do).The bedrooms for the kids were cozy and the master bedroom bed was very comfortable. It was cool out so we turned on the fans and opened the windows and it was perfect. I enjoyed having my morning coffee on the master bedrooms deck. There were tons of books and board games that we all enjoyed as a family. My kids loved running around in the grass and taking walks around the pond. Unfortunately it was too cold and rainy for us to swim.
One of the highlights of our stay were the fireflies. Our first night my wife and I sat out on the front porch (with the lights off as to not attract bugs) and we were amazed and the amount of fireflies we saw in the field. There were more than I have ever seen in one place. It was magical to sit and watch them all light up almost in sequence. There had to be thousands of them. If you’ve ever seen the movie “The Good Dinosaur” it was almost like the scene with Arlo and his father in the field.
One piece of advice for staying here. It is quiet and remote, so plan ahead. I did not and had to run out our first night to pick up some of the basics. The closest store we found was a gas station convenience store over 5 miles away. Plan on bringing your groceries or stopping on your way up because once you get close to the cabin, it’s a bit of a trek to get to a well-stocked store.
George was very friendly and easy to communicate with. He was very responsive to my inquiries.
It felt like our home away from home. Nestled in a quiet surrounding my friends and I truly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. We are already planning a trip back and cannot wait to make this a regular spot.
Loved it.Kids had a lot fun in the snow.Great place to spend time with friends and family...
We look forward to having you back to visit. Come in the summertime as well! The kids will enjoy swimming in the pond.
Best, George and Katy
An amazing cabin! Highly recommended.
I can't speak highly enough of George and Katy's cabin and their hospitality. My two bandmates and myself were looking for a place outside of the city to work on some new music. This was the perfect place. We really enjoyed the tranquility of the country and yet it was close enough to a town for supplies. We always enjoyed our morning coffee outside and watching the wildlife by the pond. The rooms were comfortable and the kitchen stocked with everything you need. We were even able to do some hiking while we were in the area. Beautiful scenery all around. George was very friendly and helpful with all the arrangements. We even got to enjoy a barbecuing with him and Katy on our last night.
We are near Howe's Caverns, where you can explore caves or go zip lining, We have several horseback riding facilities close by. As well, farmers markets and organic farms that sell to the public are all around. Behind the property is state land for hunting and hiking. Our family loves to explore the near by waterfalls in the summer and the many cross country skiing trails in the area in winter.
