Linhaven Lodge is conveniently located within 6 miles of Dushore, in the endless mountains of northeast PA. You can find the amenities you need amidst the backdrop of small town charm. Nestled in the woods, Linhaven borders the 7,909 acres of state gameland #66. You can choose to enjoy the simple pleasures of nature that surround you by walking the quiet stoney roads that access the lodge, drop a line in the nearby large ponds, or simply prop your feet up at a peaceful campfire and enjoy the spoils of friends and family. For the adventurous at heart, you could test your skills by scaling the 24 named falls of the Ricketts Glen falls trail, or hike the Loyalsock trail to the Haystacks boulders and Dutchman falls. Linhaven is centrally located between Ricketts Glen and World's End state parks, so you can choose a trip to either with a mere 1/2 hour drive.
Enjoy the numerous wineries that welcome NEPA visitors with open arms, and generous samples of their spectacular inventory. Easily accessible as well, are the unique country shops, scheduled fairs and festivals, boating and fishing the Susquehanna and Lake Jean, swimming, skiing and snow tubing, a day trip to Knoebels amusement park or PA's little grand canyon.

I am grateful for the comments, and in fact she is absolutely correct about the toilet system. I am so happy to report that as of March 30th, the initial
"environmentally friendly" toilet system we had in place has been replaced. The only thing I disagree with is the distance to travel for groceries, as it is 6 miles into the town of Dushore where there are two grocery stores, as well as a 24 hour mini mart to accommodate your needs.
The photos do not do this lodge justice--even nicer in person. Immaculate, nicely decorated, quaint & cozy! The owner was very responsive to our emails. Be warned--the gas fireplace is a nap-inducing machine!! You will not be able to keep your eyes open! We had a wonderful time--and if you're a nature & history buff, this is the place! We visited Eckley Miners' Village, the Knox Mining Disaster site & memorial and "Concrete City" (if you're an "abandoned places" enthusiasts--C.C. is for you--it's on Google Maps near Nanticoke). Hiked in Worlds End State Park (having lunch at Forksville General Store & Restaurant is a MUST!) and Ricketts Glen and some times we just hung out at the cabin relaxing and in the evenings, we enjoyed the extensive collection of DVDs. if you want to travel to Scranton there is a Houdini Museum (they keep weird hours, so check their website), the Everhart Museum, Nay Aug Park & the old iron furnaces. Also--I've never rented a house that supplied the toilet paper, paper towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. So NICE to not have to take up space and lug those items back & forth on vacation. BOOK THIS PLACE NOW!! It's AMAZING!
To start out, Cindy was wonderful to deal with. The cabin decor was adorable, you can tell that Cindy put a lot of time and thought into the decor, and it showed. The cabin was super clean and well stocked with anything that you would possibly need from, coffee with cream and sugar all the way to soap, trash bags and ect. Everything was though of. My kids loved the selection of movies after a long day of hiking at Rickets Glen State Park which was just a short drive away. We also loved how close it was to the Grocery stores and some cute restaurants. The cabin felt secluded to us even though you were not to far from town. We even saw a bear on our 1st night while checking in along one of the roads on our way to the cabin. If we ever travel back to the area we will definitely stay in Linhaven Lodge again. I would like to add that we were alittle worried that the cabin was pet friendly as we have bad allergies, but this cabin was so clean that it was not a issue. Thank you for opening your lovely cabin to us Cindy, we loved every minute of our stay and hated to go back home.
Each time my husband and I and our westie stay at the cabin we totally enjoy our stay.
It is always well maintained and very clean. I always enjoy the way Cindy has decorated
the cabin. The cabin is always well stocked with amenities. We enjoy eating all our
meals at the cabin. We buy our fresh food items from the market in Dushore. It is very
convenient. We found our stay totally refreshing.
Linhaven Lodge is exactly as described. Lovely cabin in the woods. Very clean and well appointed. After long days of hiking, it was great to get back and relax. The kids loved the upstairs loft with its many beds, and the downstairs bedroom was very nice too.
Thank you for a great "end of summer" trip!
Cindy and Hugh have a delightful little "getaway-from-it-all" in the woods. Cozy, yet modern, with all the amenities that you need.
We enjoyed complimentary coffee and playing cards on the peaceful front porch, being greeted by deer in the morning and evening, grilling over charcoal, and finding a salamander in the yard.
Kitchen was well stocked, right down to the corkscrew for opening a bottle of local wine and foil for the grill. We bought paper towels on the second day, only to realize there was a stockpile of paper products.
Having linens, towels, shampoo and soap included made it super convenient for a family of four. We appreciated the clothesline, too!
There are tons of DVDs in the living area, but we opted for books and fresh air. The fire pit and star gazing were welcomed ways to relax after hiking and swimming.
The open second floor has soft lighting, a number of comfy twin beds (and a double) and a recliner chair that was perfect for reading to my girls and snuggling.
Since it is located next to state game lands in the middle of the woods, you have approximately a 7-8 mile drive to get anywhere and wifi is slow, but that's part of what makes this place really special. (We really did turn -off and tune out for 99.9% of the trip. )
We probably would have one suggestion for next time that has nothing to do with the cabin itself: shop the local grocery store in Dushore instead of lugging a cooler full of stuff. Prices are great and they have what you need- even a good amount of gluten-free options.
If I had one luxury wish list item that would have taken it to the next level, it would have been a hot tub. But, realistically, I can see how that would be super hard to maintain here. And, as it was, I really wouldn't change a thing. ;)
Thank you for a wonderful stay and we look forward to returning!
The Linhaven Lodge was all we expected and more. A beautiful quiet cabin in the woods. It was clean and well stocked just as was advertised. Plenty of room for 5 adults, a 15 month old and a very happy golden retriever. I think it took all week to see all the interesting signs and decorations throughout the cabin. We set up a game/camera about 100 yards in the woods behind the cabin. We had pictures of several deer, lots of squirrels, an opossum and a small bear. We had a fire in the fire ring every evening except Thursday that was interrupted by a thunderstorm. We toured the Endless Mountain War Memorial in Sonestown. A private collection of military equipment that has to be seen to be believed. We went to the Eagles Mere Air and Car museum, again a private collection of pre World War II aircraft most of which can still fly. The car museum with over 100 cars and trucks many restored but several are "farm fresh". Both the War Memorial and Air and Car museum are open on the summer weekends only. We went to both Worlds End and Rickets Glen State Parks. I'm not sure who had more fun in the water my 15 month grand daughter or the golden retriever. For local restaurants we highly recommend the Colley Pub and the High Knob Inn. I would definetly recommend the Linhaven Lodge to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing time in Sullivan County.
