Delaware Bay Farm House ~ Modern Facilities ~ Charm & Comfort

Bedrooms 5
Property type chateau / country house
Minimum Stay 1 - 3 nights

About the property

Farmhouse, 5 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-11)

Cape May County - Delaware Bay Country House is a classic large Victorian farmhouse that's situated on 38 acres of natural beauty, that includes garden areas, woodland, marsh and 400 feet of sandy beach along the Delaware Bay. The farmhouse, with its high ceilings, comfortable living areas, great fully equipped kitchen, and sizable bedrooms provides our guests with the perfect home (and garden) away from home. Our peaceful garden, with it's flowering trees, a variety of seating areas, tree swing and the ultimate in privacy is perfect for relaxing activities or just plain rest. The long tranquil walk along Gus's Beach Road (our private road) leads through the naturally wooded area on the property down to where it ends at the beach along the Delaware Bay. There is plenty of room for private on-site parking. There is an outdoor shower for use upon returning home from a swim. Our property is located within a 15 minute drive from Cape May, the Wildwoods and Stone Harbor. It's the perfect location for enjoying this seaside resort area, while still enjoying the privacy and charm of this special home. We just concluded our one week stay at the farmhouse, and it was amazing! The beauty of the grounds made it hard to even leave the home, and before we knew it, the week was up. Our children especially loved looking for wildlife and array of butterflies that frequent the array of foliage (when they weren't too busy with the kiddie pool). Lila and Steve are fantastic hosts, very friendly and attentive; they even let us know we could check in earlier (we were running behind ourselves though). We slept 7 adults and 4 children with ease and comfort. The split-system A/C was great for individuals' preferences. Between the bikes, boogie boards, sidewalk chalk, kitchen, linens, etc, Lila and Steve really thought of everything. Thanks so much for an amazing stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Joe! We so enjoyed watching you all enjoy yourselves! And we are very glad to hear you were comfortable... Your children are a delight! It is a pleasure to every once in a while find a way to facilitate an earlier check in... (not always possible) ;-) Yes, that air conditioning system was a good decision! We look forward to seeing you again - your family will always be as welcome as the flowers in May!!!

A great place to get away from it all! Lots of privacy and direct access to Delaware Bay.

This is a lovely, quaint farm house that is well equipped for a gathering of family or friends. We held a family reunion with 11 adults, and it suited us fine since we were all willing to share bedrooms and bathrooms. Although advertised to sleep 12, be sure to check the photos of the rooms and beds to see the situation, and plan ahead. We were a bit lucky in that one person could not attend, which allowed us more flexibility in the sleeping accommodations. The location is not exactly close to the busy beaches on the Atlantic coast side, but does provide direct Delaware Bay beach access, which is lovely and private. We really enjoyed the kitchen with all the cookware/dishware we could need to cook meals for us all, as well as the outdoor patio with gas grill, and the screened-in elevated deck. Fresh seafood purchased from Junior's within walking distance allowed for an outdoor grilled feast! The outdoor shower is a huge plus for rinsing off after a day at the beach, and has both hot and cold running water. It was great having beach chairs and umbrellas available for use, but the bikes were for kids only. Would give it 5 stars but for the fact that the location near the swampy woods is a bit buggy (the owners do try to control the mosquitos with "mosquito magnets"), and quite near to the main road such that the bedrooms facing east are a bit noisy with traffic even at night (if you are a light sleeper, be forewarned).

Spacious farm house with beautiful garden.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the farm house. The house was spacious and we loved the garden. We have many happy memories sitting around the kitchen table catching up with extended family during our daughter’s wedding weekend.

Cool, Comfy, Country Getaway

We loved our visit at Steve and Lila's place!

Staying in their farmhouse proved to be exactly what our family needed: a place to call home for a few days.

Things we loved: Lila's beautiful flower gardens which she tended beautifully and which added a tremendous amount of surrounding beauty, the fenced in patio for children, the vast array of lawn sports activities, the big kitchen with plenty of pots and pans to cook for a large crowd, and cook we did! We also appreciated the working air conditioning since it was quite hot and humid the week we were there.

The house is within easy driving distance to shore destinations, great ice-cream and shopping if needed. We enjoyed going out for a few hours and retreating to the coolness of the farmhouse. Excellent beds too!

Thank you to Steve and Lila for a homey and lovely property to rekindle relationships with a far-flung family.

This is a lovely old farmhouse, gracious, comfortable and welcoming.

  • 5 of 5

We had 7 adults and 5 children, with room for everyone. The walk to the beach was perfect; even our 4-year old did it. The beach was ideal for kids. The kitchen was well-stocked and easy to work in. There were several "nook and cranny" places both inside and out. Our kids (4 to 12) were never bored and enjoyed the beach, the grounds, and all the nearby attractions. Steve and Lila are wonderful hosts and we couldn't have had a warmer welcome. It was a vacation to remember!

Owner's Response: Thank you!! We feel happy and blessed to receive your review! We appreciate your "nook and cranny" comment. It was a delight to have the Sinnott family at the farmhouse! And our housekeeper was pleasantly surprised to receive the tip you left for her. That was most thoughtful and nice!! Gratefully, Lila and Steve
