A fantastic location for sightseeing in Oxford, and for country walks. Easy access to transport to London and other English cities.
Quiet street ith little traffic. A delightful walk across the park into town.
Restaurant 70m away with excellent food.
I stayed in The White House, Oxford for two months in the summer of 2013. The two double and o e single bedrooms were perfect for when my sisters came for short stays. There are also two attic bedrooms suitable for children.
The house is very well appointed including a good kitchen with everything you would need. An ensuite and a main bathroom is perfect.
But, it's the location of the house that was the standout feature for me. Bus stop just 100 metres down the road, a great convenience store nearby, and a fabulous easy walk into the city centre passing through fields (with cows) and a running weir. The house has a rear garden that could be lovely with a little attention and a separate dining room for great informal dining.
British free to air television is quite poor so connection to a basic pay TV package and a bigger TV would put this holiday let into the excellent range.
Owners are very helpful and friendly, they went out of their way for me.
I loved my stay at The White House and plan a revisit.
A group of 7 of us were getting together for a reunion over a weekend after meeting as students 25 years earlier. The location was ideal. Hanna was flexible about arrival / departure times, and was there to meet us punctually. It was clean, with everything we needed. The damages deposit was returned promptly. Thank you. We plan to be back!
This house was the perfect place to stay while we were visiting Oxford. It was very roomy for the four of us, with plenty of communal space as well as individual bedrooms. We enjoyed the daily walk across the meadow into the city, and were happy to return to "our" house each evening. We spent many happy hours in Oxford seeing the colleges, stores, pubs and gorgeous scenery. We found it easy to visit London for a day, and Blenheim Palace on another. It was also easy to return to Heathrow. The property manager was pleasant and very helpful with suggestions. I would recommend this property to anyone visiting Oxford, and if I return again this is the place I will book.
Our first foreign excursion! Coming from the US we had no idea what to expect. We came to visit our son who has been studying at Oxford. Everything was perfect - even better than the pictures! Comfortable beds, a wonderful kitchen and dining area, a lovely walk into City Center. My kids (17, 14 and 12) loved feeding the horses apples on our daily walk into the city. Rented a car one day to travel to the Cotswolds, well worth it. Punted on the Cherwell River, picnicked at Port Meadow, loved the taverns and shopping. The colleges are simply stunning. Communication with the owner was easy and payment was very smooth. The rooms are very comfortable and everything felt very much like home. I can't think of one negative thing to say about this house and it's proximity to everything! We walked everywhere and that was even pushing our 12 year old in a light weight special needs stroller. It was wonderful that our son was able to stay with us, it was a mini vacation for him as well. I would highly recommend this house!!
We found the house warm and comfy, tastefully decorated, well equipped, with plenty of space, and very easy to use. We were a party of four individual adults and had a room each and ample communal room. We had a few minor queries about how things worked and they were answered promptly and cheerfully. The house was very well situated for our purposes, as we enjoyed the 20 minute walk into town across the meadow and through the university area. It is also handy for the ring road, so that we could easily visit relatives in north Oxford, and also make trips further afield. I would definitely want to return to the house in similar circumstances, and would be more than happy to recommend to others.
Our families visited us at the White House at various times over the Christmas week. It was ideal as there is everything you need, and more, and there was plenty of room for eleven for Christmas dinner. Children love the upstairs playroom. Bathroom and showeroom are great. It's very convenient for getting into Oxford City Centre and Rail Station on No13 bus. Very frequent and a few minutes ride.
Communication with the owner was very good. When we arrived we were amazed at the amount of space there was in the house. A very comfortable and pleasant place to stay.
This house is not right in the center of Oxford, but for us it was very convenient. It is located between the university and the John Radcliffe Hospital, where my husband was working. The walk into town is lovely and not too long, about 20 minutes across fields or through the university parks. The house is very spacious, with five bedrooms, comfortable for up to 7 people. There were five of us staying there for four weeks, with occasional visitors, and we had plenty of space. It was very convenient to have a washer and dryer -- some places we have stayed in Britain have a washer but no dryer. We found the owners to be very responsive to any questions or requests, and we received our deposit back the morning we left. Overall, a perfect base for exploring Oxford and surrounding environs. We did not have a car with us but rented one a couple weekends. If one does have a (small) car, the garage is extremely nice to have, as parking on the street is by permit only on weekdays.
