Situated in the famous Enclave des Papes, La Petite Bergide is a lovely restored country home lying in 3000m² of secluded gardens, orchard, woodland and edged by a little stream. The ancient Mulberry tree provides plenty of shade on the southern terrace and beyond the terrace in the garden is a sunlit pool with sun loungers and solar powered shower to cool you down.

The entire property is surrounded by lavender fields, vineyards and truffle woods. Adjacent is the well known village of Richerenches, truffle capital of the region and one of the founding locations of the Knight's Templars.

Within walking distance is the little village of La Baume de Transit with it's local store, bakery, café and bar. Vaison la Romaine and Orange and their huge weekly markets are only a 20 min drive and Avignon and it's Festival is 45 mins away.

On the ground floor of this charming home you will find a well equipped kitchen with dining area and a separate store/laundry room with washer. Separate WC.

The spacious dining room boasts an ancient stone sink in the corner, antique furniture and a long dining table and chairs, french doors open onto the terrace. The cosy sitting room has comfortable sofas and a log fireplace.

Upstairs you will find 3 very pretty bedrooms with double beds. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with tub and the other two bedrooms share a bathroom with shower and WC. One of the bedrooms has a balcony and separate entrance leading down into the garden.

There is a ping pong table, petanque boules, garden furniture, bbq and sunloungers.

The Enclave des Papes is situated in Vaucluse in the Provençal Drôme. This precious piece of land in Provence offers an astonishing historic testimony . Not far from the Rhône Valley and the Pre-Alps range of Mount Ventoux, it has a richness of landscapes, many leisure activities and sightseeing places, all of them only a few miles away.

Within a short distance you can visit all the famous caves and wineries that produce the delicious Cotes du Rhones; Rasteau, Gigondas, Seguret, Chateauneuf de Pape etc.

Wonderful accomodation

We had the perfect family holiday in this idyllic, beautiful home. The cottage is truly gorgeous, well-equipped clean and spacious. It is set in such pretty grounds, the photos just don't do it justice - you have to see it. Altogether it is a perfect picture postcard of the region. They offer 3 different sitting areas outside, we used them all. Our boys loved the pool, although quite cold in June it was refreshing and clean - in fact someone came to clean it again during our week stay. You could hear the crickets by the pool whilst lying on sun loungers looking at the beautiful flowers and fruit trees.

The location is very good - although you definitely require a car as it feels as if it is in the middle of nowhere (part of the attraction). However you are spoilt for choice with little towns and villages to visit. In fact the information provided in the cottage (which is very good) shows you could actually visit a different traditional market nearby every day. We visited a couple during our stay to pick up local fresh produce to bring back to eat in the grounds. Gorgeous!

A perfect holiday destination.

Delightful family vacation in Provence

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four had a lovely retreat in this delightful home. The old house is charming and comfy; a great example of a Provencal country home. The grounds are truly stunning, lined by rows of tall trees and filled with lush, colorful plants. The effect is of a secluded sanctuary . We spent a good deal of time soaking in the birdsong, sun and refreshing breezes on the patio and often lost our ambition for touring. Our boys loved swimming in the pool, which was clean and well-maintained with many comfortable lounge chairs. The situation of the house was excellent as a base for exploring the many nearby villages with their own charms and sites-medieval and ancient. We found the owner's advice on markets and restaurants very helpful. For dinner, we would additionally recommend La Troubador in Visan, which is a short drive or bicycle ride away. If you are up for an outdoor adventure, walk upstream in the valley of Toulauranc to find beautiful canyons and refreshing waters. This is a very special place and you will walk away with lasting memories of your time here.
