The March 2004 full renovation was updated in December 2013. This 'chambre d'hotel' apartment on the Rue des Tournelles is just a three minute walk from the Place des Vosges, one of the most beautiful 17th century squares in all of Europe. We refer to this 230 square feet ground floor studio apartment as 'le petit bijou' or the 'little jewel'.
The apartment was featured on the Parisian TV magazine show 'Paris Premiere' in April 2004. The local TV Company engaged a well-known Parisian designer and produced the making of a luxury 'pied a terre'. From the demolition of the old, to the haute design of the new, it is an encapsulated history of our Parisian dreams realized.
The renovation is a work of art and features a restored limestone wall, stone tile floors, a very accommodating bathroom, pastel striped painted walls, and the very hip 'kitchoo' cuisine with stove, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher.
All the furnishings have been selected to accommodate your most comfortable visit to Paris. Everything here is comparable to a luxury hotel except at one/quarter of the cost. The 4 star Pavillon de la Reine Hotel three blocks away charges 500 euros/night for a 150 square foot room and it doesn't come with a kitchen.
The apartment, in a 19th century 'Regency' style building, sits along the quiet rue des Tournelles. In the 17th century, the Marais was home to the most aristocratic families of Paris and 400 years later, little has changed in the architectural feel of this old quarter.
The very narrow rue des Francs Bourgeoise is now filled with 'hip' boutiques, and 'trendy' restaurants and cafes share the buildings of the old Jewish Ghetto along rue des Rosiers, but some of the quieter street like rue des Tournelles look the same as they did over a hundred years ago.
It's a short walk to the Notre Dame or the Louvre, but the Marais is so intoxicating, you could easily spend a lot of your time just enjoying the Place des Vosges, Hotel Sully, Museé Picasso, Museé Carnavelet and carefree walks through the small winding streets.
Services included in the cost are phone calls anywhere in France and in the US, cable TV, English movie stations, free and unlimited wireless Internet, linens, towels. Our bilingual contact will be just a phone call away if you need any help during your stay.
In the apartment will also be our guide to the neighborhood, favorite restaurants, cafes, wine shops, bakeries, and markets.

I was born in France, Lyon and I have lived in San Francisco now for 36 years. David and I just got married on July 14th this year.. We feel very lucky to have two places in Paris, this wonderful studio and a beautiful one bedroom (VRBO 33626). It has been a pleasure hosting so many nice guests throughout the last few years. I am looking forward to having you too! :)
Joelle Dussuyer purchased this apartment in 2005
It is simply the most hip area of Paris, yet full of history, good restaurants and attractive shops. It's centrally located, walking distance to most of the main Paris museums and landmarks and easily accessible by metro. Simply the best area in town.
Designed for American tourists by a French native who has lived in the States for 36years. I had you in mind. The apartment is very quiet, very comfortable, clean and beautiful. The bed is extremely comfortable. I've had several renters tell me that it is the best bed they have ever slept in. Florence, my Paris contact is the best!
Had a great time in Paris..even though it was windy, cold and wet.
Brigitte met us at the apartment and took care of all the little
details. She is absolutely a wonderful, friendly, helpful
person...you've got a great caretaker. Went through the "personal yellow guide"
and it was very helpful for day to day activities. Great idea! The apartment is
very, very cozy and comfortable. Host service...absolutely excellent :-)
Just wanted to say "thank you" to Gretchen and Jonathon for their hospitality.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this property. The neighbourhood itself is one of my favourites, and this apartment serves as a perfect way to enjoy it. In terms of restaurants, there is no end of nearby gems to discover.... of course, the fantastic boutique shopping, unique contemporary galleries and charming bustle of the central Marais are all mere steps away, as are enough Metro lines to zip you through the city in a heartbeat. The apartment itself is beautifully maintained and very easy to access, with all the essentials you could require at your fingertips. You'd also never realize you're around the corner from Beaumarchais, but the major boulevard offers everything you'd wish within a couple mere blocks... wine shops, bakeries, pastries, produce, pharmacies... it simply made a ten day stay in Paris feel as comfortable as home. The owner is excellent with contact and all dealings, and I'd very happily highly recommend, as well as return to enjoy this outstanding property.
My husband & I spent five nights here as part of an extended trip to Europe. We'd stayed in the Marais before and think it's one of the best locations to explore Paris. The location was perfect -- we walked everywhere, and when we got tired of walking, there are numerous bus and metro options nearby. My only caveat would be that the window overlooking the street makes for a bit more noise than you'd find in courtyard apartments -- for instance, we were awakened on Sunday morning at 5 AM by some people right outside shouting loudly at each other in French. But perhaps that just adds to the Parisian atmosphere, non? Don't miss the baguettes at Le Moulin de Rosa!
We loved our studio in the Marais. It was comfortable, well appointed and located steps from museums, shopping, restaurants and the metro. I would recommend this Paris apartment for location and comfort.
A quick reasonable uber ride from it all. A + apartment and a very good nights sleep on a great bed! The area is fun with so many pastry shops, stay open late restaurants and bars, supermarkets, small convienance stores to keep your life fun and easy. Our landlord and her staff (Florence) were very caring and attentive. I want to go back to this apt as I write this from CDG airport. Uber and the metro were easy to use and fairly priced highlights were Chez Janou, Fragments (artisan cafe, owner Yusef shuts down if beans delivered are not to his high standard), MO (d'Orsay museum), Louvre, Sacre Cour, Luxembourg Gardens. Versailles, Laduree bakery or even Paul, and just strolling and getting lost. Also, the one hour cruise is very nice at night.
This peaceful, beautiful, welcoming place has been very well thought out. I made excellent use of both nearby metro stops, the laundromat down the street, the small supermarket, health food store and other businesses nearby, and the hours of wonder in Paris within walking distance. The city itself is astoundingly rich, beautiful and complex, and to have a place such as this one as a temporary home is about as good as it gets. The studio has every comfort I needed to relax when necessary, but also to serve as my base while making the most of my time in France. I look forward to a future stay and thank Joelle for her thoughtfulness and vision.
