We were so happy with the cottage that we canceled our second reservation at another place to come and stay our last week here again. Clean, perfect condition and great views. Thanks Kathy & Ric!

Pastoral with modern conveniences

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were visiting the Tryon International Equestrian Center with our dog, Dustin. Our hosts Kathy and Ric were gracious and particularly helpful with directions. Our GPS deposited us at their house instead of the cottage, a short distance away, but they took everything in stride.

The cottage itself is perfect for two people. A small one-bedroom house, it can accommodate 4 by using the sofa bed in the living room. The bathroom is a little small, so it would have to be 4 people who know each other pretty well.

The cottage has all the modern conveniences, including overhead fans for hot days, excellent air conditioning, a good-sized refrigerator and basic plates, utensils and cooking gear. The flat screen TV was great, because my Michigander husband was able to watch his favorite team play.

The setting is very quiet, looking across a fenced pasture that has been appropriated by deer. They never failed to come out to graze in the morning and in the evening. It drove our poor dog crazy, because we quickly learned that he'd take off after them. After that, all walks were on the leash (that's the "poor dog" part).

There was a lot of rain in the forecast, but Kathy assured us that a local micro-climate shielded the area compared with surrounding towns. It turned out she was exactly right. We did get rain, but not nearly as much as nearby areas.

The cottage is quite close to a grocery store and other amenities, as well as convenient for the Tryon Equestrian Center. I have no reservations recommending this little slice of heaven for those who seek peace and serenity.

A perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a quiet weekend to rest and recharge our batteries - this place was really perfect. Clean, quiet, and tucked away in a peaceful setting. Our hosts were very hospitable and willing to help make our stay enjoyable. We felt "far away" from the usual busy routine, yet 3 minutes to the grocery store and close to restaurants.

Thank you Ms. Kathy! We look forward to coming again!

Absolutely beautiful! Such a peaceful getaway.

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for wide open space to relax, drink coffee on the porch and unwind while still having lots to do (like hiking) accessible. The cottage was EXACTLY that. This is the kind of place that is good for the soul. We enjoyed porch sitting and walks around the property as much as we enjoyed checking out the local water falls, restaurants and breweries. Our pup absolutely loved running around as well. If you have horses, the cottage is a must! The owners are very hospitable and wonderfully nice. They have a heart for their land and it shows. Definitely recommend! We plan to return.
