We have just spent over a month at Mary Ann's 'Garden Hideaway' as a base for exploring Santa Monica and the Los Angeles area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The apartment is small but well-designed to include all the facilities we needed; plenty of closet space, a well-equipped kitchen, a good bathroom and a bedroom with a large and very comfortable bed. The location is quiet and the second-floor windows overlook a well-stocked garden.





We didn't hire a car but found a very extensive bus network took us everywhere we wanted to go. Seniors could go anywhere on the 'Big Blue Bus' network for just 50 cents a ride whilst the red Metro buses only charged Seniors 25 cents a ride 'off-peak' and 55 cents a ride during rush hours. Bus rides took us to Malibu, Redondo Beach, Downtown L.A., the San Fernando Valley as well as Beverly Hills and Hollywood Blvd. We also recorded some 230 miles on our pedometer!





We enjoyed a great winter holiday and found the Mary Ann's Garden Hideaway a very agreeable place to stay at, for which we thank her.

A week in paradise.

We recently spent a week in the Garden Hideaway in Santa Monica and really enjoyed it. The studio apartment was very well appointed with everything we needed for a comfortable stay for the 2 of us. The grounds are an unbelievable assortment of ornamental and fruit trees and plants that I've never seen before, the owner obviously loves gardening very much...Within a short walk there are restaurants and pretty much every kind of shopping that we needed for our stay.... Santa Monica is in a great location for many area beaches and places that we wanted to visit including Disneyland, Malibu, Venice Beach and is only a short trip to Downtown L.A. should you choose to go there.... Overall we had a great time and plan to go back in the near future.

Lovely space in the best neighborhood!

Perfect place to land for a stay on the west side of Los Angeles. The garden is serene and the bed was heavenly! All amenities you need for a relaxed, comfortable stay. Neighborhood is full of restaurants/cafes/grocery stores all within a 5 minute walk. Short drive to Venice or Malibu. Parking on the street was never a problem - but pay close attention to street signs! Mary Ann couldn't have been more warm and welcoming; the absolute best hostess. I highly recommend and hope to return - didn't want to leave!!
