Pere Marquette River 'Green Cottage' -Fly's Only Section

Bedrooms 2
Space 800 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

This cute fishing cabin has the US Forest Service 'Green Cottage Access Site' named after it. It is located on over a mile of private riverfront land in the middle of the 'Flies Only - Catch and Release' section of the Pere Marquette River. Right next door is its bigger brother: 'Red Cabin'. Come to fish, kayak, canoe or just relax on the deck overlooking the river. Kayak, canoe rentals, and grocery store just a mile away.

You will have access to the entire 80 acres to hike, fish or just relax. The cabin, built in the 1930's, has been written up in many fly fishing books as one of the best fly fishing areas for natural reproducing German Brown Trout, Steelhead and of course the Fall Salmon run. No phones, internet - just peace and quiet 'river time'. While not fancy, its location on the river is second to none. A perfect place if you enjoy the river and outdoors.

It is closed for the winter Dec-March. Please see the 'Red Cabin' listing for this time period.

Fantastic Fisherman's Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Came up with my son, and two son in-law's for the trout opener. We have fished the Pere Marquette for many years. However, this was our first stay at the Green Cottage. The cottage is located on a pristine stretch of river that is flies only, and catch & release. The cottage has some of the most amazing views of the river from the large windows inside, and the deck. Inside was very clean with a large living/dining area, and comfortable beds. Any questions we had regarding our stay were answered promptly by the owner. We are already making plans to stay here again next fall, can't wait!! thankyou, J.V.

Hunting Camp

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at the cabin. The place seemed bigger on the inside then it looked on the outside. The location right on the river offered a very nice view.

Great cottage with excellent river access!

  • 5 of 5

All of the facilities you need to enjoy a great weekend away. Great spot with some of the best access to the river on the PM. Green cottage also affords quite a bit of space to spend some time outside after a day on the river.

Just what we were looking for!

  • 4 of 5

The Green Cottage was just perfect! Nestled on the edge of the river to enjoy it's beauty. It is directly next to the river access launch, but this didn't bother us. The cottage is very clean and tidy. The kitchen is small, but adequate for our our needs. The only reason I gave this a 4 vs 5 is because it could use some updated cooking supplies and perhaps new stove. I would most definitely book here again.

Owner's Response: Harvest gold isn't your color? You must have been speaking to my wife as she has been on me to upgrade that stove and flooring for years. Over the winter we did some upgrades for 2017, including a new stove and lots of new kitchen items. Thank you for your input.

Needs updating badly

  • 2 of 5

Location and view are gorgeous. Literally 6 feet from the river. That said we were very disappointed with the cottage. Everything needs updating. The first thing we noticed was the sagging ceiling tiles and pervasive musty/moldy smell. It appears there have been leaks around the fireplace. The other major issue is that there is not a comfortable bed in the place. A LOT of people can lose sleep here as there are a lot of bunk and twin beds. The shower was so bad that I went to store and bought a new shower head so that the water would spray toward me rather than the ceiling. The price is reasonable and we had a very relaxing stay. Baldwin canoe rental is awesome. Local restaurants are not good at all but Jones ice cream rules. We would return to Baldwin, but probably not the green cottage.

Owner's Response: We are sorry your visit did not meet your standards. As our description says "not fancy" but the location is great. We try to provide a reasonably priced, clean cabin on a famous section of river in the woods. Where time slows down and nature abounds - not fancy.
