Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday home in Coalmont - The House at Lakeshore

House, 4 Bedrooms + 1 Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, plus air mattress if needed

Our beautiful home has a fresh new look as of January 2016. Your quarter mile paved drive down the scenic driveway leading to the Lake House is only the beginning to your incredible stay in this welcoming home. The House at Lakeshore is a beautiful lake front home with approximately 3000 square feet and large deck overlooking the lake. The deck is equipped with a partially glassed outdoor dining area, gas grill, outdoor Jacuzzi hot tub and comfortable patio furniture for relaxing your day away. This retreat home has breathtaking, wide open views across the lake. If you enjoy fishing be sure to bring your gear or boat with trolling motor. (no gas powered motors) A paddle boat ride will help you explore the lake (bring your own life jackets if you can't swim). Each season offers its own unique beauty for your relaxing getaway.

The master bedroom has an incredible view of the lake through six foot wide glass doors with a hot tub just outside for your enjoyment. The house is two stories with living rooms and bedrooms on each floor. There are two full baths upstairs with walk in shower and built in benches and one full bath lower level with walk in shower and a jetted tub for relaxing your cares away. The kitchen is fully equipped with an eat in bar and opens to the dining room. No matter where you dine, each area has a front row seat to the amazing lake views. Those romantic candlelit dinners could be topped off by a glorious sunset! In addition, there is a front load washer and dryer just off the kitchen for your convenience.

The House at Lakeshore offers something for each family member, several board games, cornhole, foosball, ping pong, lots of movies with a wide selection of Disney for the youngsters. Free WiFi and cable are also available as well as library/office combination for some quiet reading time. Off the downstairs living room there is a private sitting area outside with a peaceful wicker swing overlooking the lake.

The House at Lakeshore was fully remodeled in 2010 with the completion in January 2011. Updated Jan 2014 with the third bathroom lower level. Fresh new look and decor in 2016. It is beautiful. Included in the remodel are new granite counter tops, red oak hardwood floors and lovely tiled kitchen and bathrooms.

About Larry Wiley

My wife Pam and I, own and manage the property. I am a Doctor of Pharmacy and owner of Wiley’s Pharmacy in Altamont, Tennessee. Pam owns Tin Roof, (a Primitives and Antique Gift Shop.) Located inside the pharmacy in Altamont, TN. I have lived in this area all my life with the exception of College years. My personal residence is on the lake as well, so I am available to answer with knowledge most of your questions about this beautiful area I call home.

I am involved with mission work here at home and in other countries including Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Africa, Europe, and Israel and enjoy exploring this great nation America every chance I get. I must add though even with my extensive travels there is no place like the simplistic beauty and peaceful living this area affords. It allows me the opportunity to enjoy my passion for fishing, hiking and golfing. Living in the midst of Tennessee State and National Parks is a blessing. Just Google the Cumberland Plateau to find out about this amazing area.

I have three grown children and two grandchildren. I raised exotic animals for years including Zebra’s, black face sheep, Z-donks, Llamas, goats, donkeys and white fallow deer.

I am a committed Christian and am very active in my church.

My goals are simple in this season of my life:

•Work Hard •Play More Often •Enjoy Life Daily.

Larry Wiley purchased this house in 2005

Why Larry Wiley chose Tennessee

I chose this property so I could share my love for this area with others. Our lake house is one of the best kept secrets in the area. Having a private, fenced in, twenty three acre home on Big Creek Lake (73 acre lake) is a jewel. People that come up for a visit want to move here because of all the beauty, wildlife and just a relaxed environment to share with their family. Mountain living but with the option of fine dining, exploring the National Parks or flea market shopping. Going into the city of Chattanooga or Nashville for the day enjoying the local culture and museums is also an option. I believe this retreat is a getaway families will enjoy together through all the activities available, the modern amenities and just the ability to sit and listen to the music of nature whether it is the wind whispering through the trees or the geese letting you know they are about to land on the lake. The House at Lakeshore just keeps it simple in a very hectic world. Simple is good.

What makes this house unique

I believe one of the unique benefits of the lake house is the quiet. There is a peaceful calm and serenity here that’s priceless! Fresh air, rejuvenation and the enjoyment of nature are a few things that come to mind when I think of lakeside living. This is Mountain Life at its Finest!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Unlike any rental we have ever stayed at. We feel as if we were visitors in your home with the fresh cut flowers and great muffins. Thanks Pam. We came with the intentions of hiking and taking pictures of waterfalls in the area, after arriving @ The Beautiful House at Lakeshore we didn't need to go anywhere else. Pam, the house is so pretty with antique furniture and décor. We were comfortable no matter where we were especially on the most amazing deck. B

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing home & location.

Our 6-guy prayer retreat had as perfect an experience as we could imagine.

The hosts were responsive and warm.

The home was spotless ... spacious ... inviting.

The lake is so tranquil and quiet and peaceful - great for a calm kayak or canoe excursion.

Would give this property the highest recommendation.

Best weekend getaway in a long long time

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful property over a weekend. We have stayed at several vacation homes in past years and I can say this is the best property I have ever stayed. The owner, Larry and his wife Pam are very friendly, they received us at the property as we pulled over and showed us around. Pam had freshly baked blueberry muffins for us. They even had water bottle case in refrigerator for us to use, a small gesture but not many do that. My point is they are not your regular owner property owners who you’d probably never meet, they are very nice couple and go out of their way to make their guests experience memorable.

Property is on the Lakeshore, they make paddle boats, kayaks available for use. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor games available for both kids and adults. They have goats and donkeys for kids to pet and feed. There is so much to do there that we changed our plan to visit Chattanooga and rather stayed at the property through out our rental.

Everyone in our group had lots of fun here and we plan to come back in future. I highly recommend this rental if you plan to visit this part of the world.

Breathtakingly beautiful ... inside and out! We had the most amazing family trip we've ever had!

  • 5 of 5

I'm not sure I can summarize our trip in just a few words ... From the moment we turned into the driveway our mouths were open. The land, the house, the lake, the view are all utterly gorgeous! There were 10 adults and two children in our group. We arrived before the rest of our clan, and I loved showing each couple around the house and watching their faces as they took in every room and all the details ... and the deck with that amazing view! The furnishings and decorations are just perfect!

Our group was our four children and their spouses, plus two grandkids. The bottom level with the bedroom housing two queen-sized beds and its own private bathroom was perfect for the parents with the two granddaughters (ages 10 and 7). The game room is also on this level, and we put an air mattress in the office for my son and his wife to have a private room as well. The other couples arrived first and snagged the upstairs bedrooms (we got the master, of course). ;)

The bathrooms are beautifully updated with gorgeous tile and fixtures. The "car wash" shower in the master was awesome! The kitchen was perfect as we brought all of our food and drinks so we wouldn't have to leave the house! (Two refrigerators sure helped!)

We did do the short drive to Greeter Falls and hiked down to swim at the bottom of the falls. That was so much fun, even though the falls weren't gushing that day. There was still plenty of water to swim! However, we didn't stay long since we wanted to get back to the house!

Two of the guys spent many hours on the canoe jug fishing. Our granddaughters must have burned off 300,000 calories jumping off the dock into the lake and climbing back up the ladder. It was hard to keep them out of it! The garage full of floats was a pleasant surprise! Everybody enjoyed floating on the lake together. The paddle boat was so much fun, too! The girls had their little electric scooters with them and the driveway was perfect for that! The seven-year-old fell in love with the male donkey (and vice versa!) and didn't want to leave him. <3 We visited the momma and baby, too. One of my favorite spots was the rainbow hammock by the lake. So peaceful!! We loved hearing the geese fly over, sometimes "crash landing" into the lake. We played board games, foosball, ping pong and corn hole ... and enjoyed the fire pit on the last night.

It was the perfect place for our family getaway. Time to decompress and reconnect with each other. Thank you for an amazing trip!

The House at Lakeshore...

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at the House at Lakeshore. Larry and Pam are such genuinely dear people. Their decorating has created such a peaceful place to retreat to, unplug and just rest from the insanity of a busy life.

Contentment... Tranquility...

Satisfaction...

I spent some much needed quality time cuddling up in a hammock, in the shade of the oak trees, with the love of my life... and our view of the lake from the hammock was nearly perfect.

I had a wonderful opportunity early one morning to sit on the dock and get a little fishing in. I am a terrible fisherman but that's beside the point.

The stillness of the water. The distant sound of a woodpecker hammering a tree. The hooting of an owl somewhere near by. The sight and sounds of the geese gliding over head. The occasional splash of a fish breaking the surface of the mirrorlike stillness of the lake... the way the early morning vapor seemed to glide across the top of the water as the sun rose up over the trees to light the day...

In a word... Peace.

If you have the opportunity, put this beautiful place on your vacation destination list.

Though you won't have to unplug from technology, please consider doing so and just enjoy being in this peaceful place.

The BEST rental house we have ever stayed at!!!

  • 5 of 5

I don't even know how to express how much we loved staying at this beautiful home! The view was spectacular and the location was quiet and peaceful. The house is gorgeous and has EVERYTHING and MORE that you could possibly want or imagine from a rental property. However, we did not spend much time inside the house because the front porch is where you will want to spend all of your time. Every room of the house is decorated beautifully and is fully functional. The home was extremely clean, well kept, and all of the little details made this a truly special vacation. We did enjoy the game room as well as the hot tub, kayaks, canoes, tandem bike, and other games available to us. In addition there are apple trees, blueberry bushes, grape vines that you can pick and even donkeys and goats that you can feed. We enjoyed the nearby hiking as well. The owners are very professional and welcoming. It was so nice being greeted with homemade blueberry muffins (with blueberries picked from the property's bushes)! The owners met us at the home and explained all of the home's special features to us which was very helpful (hot tub, the car wash style shower, etc.). Several members from our group plan on returning with their families - it is worth a second visit!! This house was perfect for us and we couldn't have imagined anything better!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for this wonderful review. Unplug and Unwind is what many of our guest are looking for when I talk with them. Yes we have them both in a "Super-Sized" kind of way..LOL. Just come and leave your troubles at the main gate. I will come by take them away so you don't have to worry about taking them back home with you. Wouldn't that be great? Take full advantage of the hiking trails, waterfalls, and wild life her on the Cumberland Plateau but our home is secluded nestled on a 23 acre estate so you can have your privacy and enjoy the 73 acre lake or just take in the views from the 3 porch decks...Relax and enjoy your family and friends.
