Overview

About the property

3 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps a maximum of 6

'Summertime' is a single storey house facing south and looking out over the sea and the Isles de Levant. It is extremely secluded as the only way in from the road is via the front door! All rooms except the third bedroom lead out onto one of the two terraces with their spectacular views, and there are paths leading down from each terrace to the coastal path and the rocks below, then it is is two minutes to the golden sandy beach of St. Clair.

The third bedroom has a single bed that can be expanded to a double bed, but as this room is small this will result in a restriction of space around the bed.

There is now wifi in the house for those wanting to bring computers etc.

There is a dining area on the west terrace, which is overhung with mimosa. Garden chairs, loungers and a baby's cot are available. Extra cleaning and baby-sitting services are available. The old fishing port of Le Lavandou is 5 minutes walk away, abounding with restaurants, charcuteries, poissoneries, delicatessens, and the fishermen sell their catch every Thursday at about 10 am. Or you could just sit outside one of the cafe/bars facing the sea in the sunshine, and watch the French enjoy their never ending game of Boules.

Why Mrs Tricia Morris chose Le Lavandou

When you are in Summertime you leave the rest of the world behind. Just you and the view. You can swim off the rocks below in the frequent calm weather. If you want or need to visit a shop or restaurant they are within easy walking distance. For the more active there are bikes to hire in Le Lavandou and plenty of watersports at Le Lavandou or nearby Cavaliere.

What makes this house unique

Right above the sea - easy walk to beaches, shops, restaurants - sleep to the sound of the waves lapping - relax on one of the many terraces with a book and something cold to drink.

WONDERFUL - EXCELLENT SEJOUR

  • 5 of 5

the house is of course ideally located, facing the sea ( and islands.... we even was dolfins in front of the house) and the noise from the street in the back is very fast forgotten...

The structure of the house is charming, views across numerous windows and doors are wonderful, and it is very easy to go from one side to the other of the house. Lovely floors, good furniture... 4 terraces are ideally located in order to enjoy every moment of the day and night!

It was very clean... the only thing to improve would be to inform us when the house was ready (we were waiting and have lost a part of the first day like this... as it was said we would have a possibility to arrive early... and at 4pm we were still waiting for an answer ( that we had never received beside) - Tricia was very helpful from her home by email... but the local service could be improved by not forgeting to inform the guest when it is ready!

We are now looking forward to coming back! thank you !

Owner's Response: Dear Hugues Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review. My mother and I are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. However we were very sorry and disappointed to hear about the delay you had getting into the house. I have spoken to the cleaners who apologised for not calling you when they had finished. They said they had 15 clients that day and just forgot. Not an excuse but a reason. Next time I will give you a number to ring so this cannot happen again. With best wishes and thank you again Tricia

Amazing as ever

Wonderful stay. Even though it was early April it's such a sun trap we spent many a day on the balconies basking with local wine, cheese and culinary delights. Cant recommend enough!

Like nowhere else

  • 5 of 5

Having been several times before with family, I booked Summertime for a long weekend in March for my boyfriend's birthday. It's an incredibly special place - the views are breathtaking - and he was blown away by it.

We hired a car and drove from Marseille Airport via Cassis - definitely worth a pitstop if you have time to take the scenic route. During our stay, we made a few trips into Le Lavandou (easily walkable) and drove to beautiful Bormes, but best of all was soaking up the sun and sea air on the terrace and navigating the cliff path (accessible from the house) to the sandy beach at St Clair.

It was the first time I'd been to Summertime not in the summertime (!) and while we did have a dramatic and very picturesque thunderstorm one night, the days were sunny and warm. It was also wonderful to be there off-season and to get a flavour for local Provencal life. The market in Le Lav is second-to-none and we loved people watching and following the endless games of boules. There are a few great restaurants at St Clair, but it's well worth making the longer walk (or swim if you're feeling fit) to La Fosette for the infamous moules marinieres.

Special thanks to Tricia for all of her help and organisation, and to Nicola for making the house spotless and cosy for our arrival.

A slice of heaven by the sea!

  • 5 of 5

A spectacular property with everything you could wish for. This was my umpteenth stay at Summertime and it never disappoints. I've been here on family trips as a child, relaxing breaks with friends and most recently as a romantic getaway with my girlfriend - perfect for all! The house is bright, airy and spacious, with beautiful views out to the mediterranean, and private steps leading down to the waters edge. My favourite place in the world is sat on the terrace by the kitchen, with a glass of wine, a good book, surrounded by fragrant flowers, tiny basking lizards, and the lapping of the waves.

Beneath the house are plenty of rockpools to scramble over and explore, and a shallow channel to be able to swim out safely. Fantastic snorkelling and loads to see. If you're feeling adventurous I'd recommend swimming out to La Fossette - a delicious restaurant on the beach with the best mussels in France. St Clair beach is just around the corner with some lovely quiet bars, and a great spot for sunbathing and swimming.

Le Lavandou is a lovely seaside town, and Summertime is perfectly placed just a short walk along the sea path from the comings and goings. If you get up early you can hit the fish-market and the great boulangerie that does lovely baguettes. or take a tour on the glass-bottomed boat, play boules with the locals. I can recommend the paragliding off the back of a speedboat that goes out from a jetty on the main beach. Up in the hills at Bormes there are lots of delicious ice cream spots and it's a lovely historic town to walk around. St Tropez is a short drive up the coast to admire all the superyachts and rich and famous.

If the weather does take a turn for the worse Summertime is a warm and wonderful sanctuary to look out at the sea. The TV is great and has all the bells and whistles, there's wireless to keep connected and there are loads of board games and decks of cards.

I can't wait to go back!

Perfection again!

  • 5 of 5

This has been our 4th visit to Summertime but our first in the summer.

As usual Jill had done a great job getting the villa ready and the "at home" feeling grabs you straight away. We spent a lot of time sitting on the terrace watching life go on beneath us and then in the evening transfered to Le Lavandou to continue people watching.

It's great to be able to walk into the town to shop daily,(the car stays in the car port from the afternoon we arrive to the day we leave!) but we also had 2 good meals out, one at Le Krill and one at the habourside where we had the full fish platter. It is worth remembering to take a torch for late night returns if you are using the coast path.

We prefer to swim from the rocks beneath Summertime, my husband loves to snorkle and I find the swimming much more enjoyable away from the beach. We tended to swim first thing in the morning and later in the afternoon both times when the tourists have gone and only the locals remain.

Despite good intentions we were unable to tear ourselves away from the comfort of Summertime and visit the islands.

Summertime is not an all mod cons type of place but the situation and the fabulous views make up for any shortcomings.

One note, we flew to Marseilles and this proved to be a much more pleasant experience than Nice airport on a very busy summer saturday. The journey from Marseilles was also much easier.

I have no doubt that we will be returning to Summertime soon.

our wonderful week in

  • 5 of 5

we have just returned from a perfect week spent in Summertime. The location is breathtaking - to wake up every morning to the sound of the sea and the view of the ocean....everything is within walking distance so dont stress yourselves with car rentals etc...the house itself is old world so dont expect luxury but do expect a great sense of happiness in the house you can sit outside on a number of different terraces and get various different views - we shall certainly be returning. Le Lavendou is just a couple of minutes walk away and is a delightful town with plenty of shops and restaurants and coffee areas to while away a few hours - there is a very good market there on thursday am my advice is to be there for 9 a.m. as it gets terribly busy - bring couple baskets with you and load up on veg, fruit, seafood, cooked chickens, tapenades, wine, oils, cheese - the list is endless but you could prepare a feast from the produce there. St Clair beach is 5 mins walk and is delightful - we did walk to la fossette beach around by the cliffs but would not do the walk again especially with young children - use the beach train - this beach is lovely but go prepared as there are no shops only a beach restaurant that serves only cold food during the day.

we did to to portequerolles for the day the water there is amazing again go prepared plenty of water and sunscreen.

its just a great part of the world and the people are terribly helpful and friendly - enjoy!

The course is situated between St Tropez and Toulon, and faces south west, sheltered by trees and beside a river, with superb views of the hills. It was established in 1964 and has built a solid reputation both near and far. The course demands technique and precision, and golfers will always find their abilities stretched. License and handicap (35 maximum) essential. There is a swimming pool in the golf facilities. It really is the most beautiful area.
