At age 18 I read the Adele Davis book 'Lets Eat Right to Keep Fit.' That was 60 years ago. That was my bible. I have been on the path to health and nutrition ever since. Too many people today encourage diseases by their poor nutrition and by overeating. Today we MUST supplement our nutrition with appropriate vitamins and minerals because our many foods are lacking those essential elements that we need to sustain a good long and healthful life. Desert life fits right into a healthful way of life. Lots of new changes. This beautiful Glass House is my RETREAT.
JaneTess Davis purchased this house in 2000
I fell in love with the gardens on this 1.2 acre property. The Round Glass House is a dream come true. Wild life is abundant. When I stay here I go no where else. I just sit and look at the beauty and the squirrels, chipmunks, quail, roadrunners, cottontails, and an occasional coyote. Night sunsets with bright stars!!! Shining all over the universe! Also have a wonderful manager Alex Terraza who can be called at any time.
Only 6 blocks to the famous Spas of Desert Hot Springs. Walking trails, hikes, 45 minutes to Joshua Tree, golf courses, great restaurants, 15 minutes to Palm Springs. The house is equipped with everything. Just bring yourselves. We have a new DVR which makes it easy to turn on the TV. Record what you like and watch later at your convenience.
At night the lights go on in the front and back gardens automatically. It is a light garden show. Sit outside at night and you may think you are in Paradise!!!
My second stay at the Round Glass House. So many nice changes. I cannot believe it. Feels so much like home even tho it is just my
second visit. I had made so many plans to go to Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, Anza Borego, etc. and ended up just staying here the
whole time looking out at the acre of land with all the cacti in full bloom plus all the wonderful animals: road runners, squirrels, chipmunks,
quail, and would you believe one coyote!. Seeing the coyote is not good news because it means it came down from the mountains where
it was starving and looking for food. But really nice to see such a beautiful animal. Oh yes, coming home one night in the dark from a
wonderful Mexican restaurant, just before the house, a group of WHITE OWLS were looming in the dark. They disappeared almost
immediately and it was like a dream. The house is magic. It is all magic. But, the house is not like any house in the world. You could
say it is like a museum in a way, lots of books to read, videos all in the library there. Guess I gotta come back next time I am in the
area. Thanks so much for the stay.
Waking up to sound of birds singing and watching rabbits and road runners while making breakfast, makes a delightful change from a busy lifestyle.
The mature cactus garden, which is well lit for evening viewing, is one of a kind. We highly recommend it to our friends, and planning a return visit soon. Kaye and Jaysone Tylor
This is our family/friends third stay at the round house or "the house of doors" as my sis nicknamed it (in a good way:) This home is set up very nicely and accomodating to all your possible needs. Jane is a very easy person to reach and wonderful to do business with. The house was close enough to the activities we wanted to do and very close to a shopping center. We always feel very comfortable here and the landscaping is very cool as well!
Thank you once again Jane for a very nice stay! I am quite sure we will be returning.
We had a sad reason for coming to the desert on the same tough to find lodging weekend that the Coachella Rock Festival was afoot in Indio. We came for a family memorial service. My wife and I live on the Monterey Peninsula and we are in our 70s. We were joined by our two adult sons who travelled from Portland, Oregon. The charming round glass house perfectly suited our needs. The architecture from the 1960s is unique and delightful. The house sits somewhat high on a bench with direct views of Mt. San Jacinto. The front covered patio and the gardens are private and a wonderful setting to sit, read, share a sarsaparilla, and enjoy the desert. We didn't use the rear patio with table and BBQ and views of the rear garden, but noticed how nice it would be for outdoor dining. The interior living room, kitchen and dining area are comfortable and inviting with room for several people to gather. The bedrooms and baths are clean with everything functioning as they should. The house is equipped with all the things needed for a visit. Even for such a sad purpose we enjoyed our stay at the round glass house.
We are a family of 3 and had a great time in this very unique home. The house is incredibly spacious - our 6 year old daughter had her own bedroom and the large backroom as her personal play space! The front round house with floor to ceiling windows is a great space - you totally feel like the outside desert is an extension of the house. Neighborhood is quiet and easy access to surrounding sights and highways. Jane was very easy to work with and quick to answer any of our questions. Sadly 3 nights was too short...hopefully we will be back. Highly recommended.
We stayed a week at Jane's desert sunshine home. It is a unique "round" house with floor to ceiling windows looking out at an incredible acre+ yard frequented by many varieties of wild life including quail, rabbits, chipmunks, birds, and even an occasional road runner. The location is tucked away and quiet (except for the sweet sound of birds singing and chirping). The home is comfortable, has all the kitchen equipment for cooking, TVs in all the rooms, and wireless internet access. We'll definitely be back again.
Walk to tennis courts, 6 blocks to the Spas, 15 minutes to Palm Springs, 30 minutes to Palm Desert with the famous El Paseo walk which features 30 restaurants, cafes, Imago Museum, and many art galleries. 15 minutes to Cinemas/Movie Theaters, Play Houses, Palm Springs Museum, famous Thursday night Crafts Fair/farmers market and every weekend College of the Desert outdoor street fare.
