Large, Roomy, Private, Pet Friendly Cabin with short drive to fantastic attractions!

  • 5 of 5

My family of four really enjoyed our stay at this Caddo Gap cabin for three nights in August 2017. We loved staying at this pet-friendly cabin because of the beautiful mountain surrounding and because it was a short drive to the Wegner Quartz Crystal Mine, Crater of Diamonds and Lake Ouachita.

If you stay in this area, I recommend going to the Wegner Quartz Crystal Mine because this place is loaded with quartz & you can take home all that you can carry. It was fun for our whole family and the 2 hour adventure seemed to fly by because quartz is everywhere, waiting to be picked up. Wegner Quartz Crystal Mine had beautiful finds everywhere, where as at Crater of Diamonds you'll find mostly tiny pebbles of jasper and rocks. I think Crater is a place to visit one time but Wegner Quartz Mine is a place you'll never tire of because of all the incredible finds. We drove to Caddo Gap from Indiana & I would drive her again just to visit Wegner Quartz Crystal Mine; It was truly a spectacular time! I would also recommend driving to Lake Ouachita, after visiting the Wegner Quartz Crystal Mine, to rinse off the red clay in the lake & to enjoy the beautiful, clean surroundings.

The owners of the Caddo Gap cabin are very friendly & it was a pleasure to meet both of them. When we first arrived in town, Bridget met us by her barn and we followed behind her as she lead the way to our cabin. We didn't have cell phone service or WIFI at or around the cabin area, so this was nice of her to do because we may not have found the cabin without her help.

We met the other owner as we were leaving the cabin & he shared some stories with us about animals he had seen on the Ranch & showed us pictures of a Copperhead snake that he found in his driveway recently.

We loved seeing the cows each day at the cabin and we also saw armadillos, deer and rabbits.

It was wonderful that the cabin had a washer / dryer, oven, stove, full-size fridge, 2 bathrooms (both with showers and bath tubs), & a separate indoor, back porch area to keep the dogs while we were on our adventures.

Bridget was thoughtful & let us know that it was tick season & to be prepared. I bought a special pair of tick tweezers with us & they came in handy because I did have to use them twice to remove ticks from our dogs. We also brought lots of insect repellent sprays to use on our walks around the lovely property.

Bridget, thanks for letting us stay at your cabin; We have made many fond family memories!

Wonderful Property and Hosts

  • 5 of 5

My family had a great experience vacationing on this property. Seclusion, views, tubing, hiking, wildlife and fireflies every night. The children loved jogging to the swimming hole, tubing all day and I loved hiking the trails behind the house. This property provided a wonderful opportunity to slow down and enjoy each other as you should on a vacation. The home was well stocked, very clean and Bridget Cantrell was a wonderful host. I would highly recommend at least a short vacation on this property. We plan to come back.

Mooooooooooo!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, son, daughter-in-law, 2 young grandchildren and I rented from Friday through Monday. We were lucky because the weather was absolutely perfect. The house was laid out well for separation of the two families, with the kitchen and a nice gathering room between the two suites. The children loved the nearby cattle (my 2 yr old gd is still mooing!), and the swimming hole at the river! We brought tubes and floated, although the river was low. My son hung a hammock at the river. The property is private since the Cantrell family owns the entire ranch. The large carport served as a patio/pavilion with a picnic table. Watch out for bees! We knocked down several nests. There are ceiling fans in the carport and they help cool things off when you're outdoors. The house is newish/remodeled and doesn't really feel like a rental. We loved it! Hope to come back if they'll have us! Thank you!

Very quiet and secluded.

  • 5 of 5

Was looking for something as a last minute quick trip, just luckily this property had a cancelation due to an emergency, I'm sorry for their misfortune but so happy we were able to grab this oasis. Quiet, beautiful view, secluded but still close to grocery store. We had 2 of our grandsons with us and they had a blast. No internet, no cell phone service just nice peaceful relaxation. We brought a couple of board games to keep us entertained before bed. Highly recommended for a family that needs to recharge.
