I was born and grew up in this villa. First of all through my family’s care and teaching, and then in a conscious and individual way, I was charmed by these incredible surroundings permeated by tradition and a warm welcoming feeling. After having spent 10 years away studying and working, in 2002 I decided to come back here, to my home, and put all my efforts in keeping its splendour alive and making it visible to our guests, hoping that they will feel the emotions that I felt and continue to do so.
Jacopo Marcello purchased this villa in 1550
The Venetian villas are more than 4.000 houses, built between 1450 and 1700, and Ca’ Marcello is one of the few which is still lived by the original aristocratic family. The private park is 90.000 sq. meters and is rich in old-century trees, statues, flower beds. Going for a sunset stroll or for jogging in the early morning is like walking in heaven. During your stay, I'll be glad to accompany you through a private visit of the main building to appreciate the real Italian lifestyle and share our love for this beautiful place. Our family deeply believes in the great difference between being guests and being clients, and the first one is the way we like people to feel while having their holiday here.
Regarding the concept: The Barchessa apartment is the only guesthouse in the whole villa, independent and perfectly positioned (in one of the arcaded wings, called ‘Barchessa’). All the bedroom windows overlook the main Italian style garden and the villa’s façade.
Amenities: Several vegetables and spices can be freely picked up daily from our private kitchen garden. Dinners can be self-arranged by the guests, but can also be cooked by a private chef and served in the garden, everywhere the guests want.
Surroundings and activities: the property lays in the middle of the southern Veneto region. This means being a few minutes away from all major interesting destinations in the area: Venice (35 minutes by direct train), Padua (40 mins by car), Bassano and Asolo (30 mins), Verona and Lake Garda (90 mins), Cortina d' Ampezzo (120 mins) and all charming villages and Palladian villas.
Scenery lovers can visit the natural park of the River Sile, where also boating and kayaking facilities are available. Private visits to local cellars and wine producers are possible to taste the famous 'Prosecco'(50 mins from the villa).
Daily boat trips on the Brenta River are easy to arrange to enjoy the stunning landscape and Palladian villas from Padua to Venice.
What can we say - our group members have expressed our feelings very eloquently. Your warm welcome into your home made our stay very pleasant. Jacopo's attention to our needs was appreciated by all, and Carlotta's desserts will long be appreciated and remembered by the children.
The dinner that the chef cooked for us was the highlight of our family reunion for both the locals and the Canadian contingent.
Nine of us, three generations, made a lifetime of memories. The accommodations were first-rate and the kitchen was generously outfitted. Our gracious host Jacapo was most helpful with restaurant reservations and local information. The landscaped grounds and the private pool provided hours of entertainment for the children, like having a city park at their disposal. Venice is an easy train ride away and the nearby towns made for great day trips; having a car is a must but the peace and quiet were definitely worth it.
We were 6 adults and 2 kids, 8 and 10 years old.
We stayed at Ca'Marcello for 2 weeks and it was a wonderful experience. The location is great and close enough to do daily trips and still have time to enjoy the property that is amazing. Beautiful setting with breathtaking gardens. We all had a blast. Great place for kids, we rented bikes and they had a blast between the pool and all the spece to play. Marcello family were a great hosts helping us planning several trips. I would highly recommend this place to stay and would love to go back.
This was the holiday of the year! Everything was perfect. We especially enjoyed the lovely pool, which we had for ourselves. The children also loved the fishing in the fish pond which was full of fish. The Marcello family were very pleasant hosts. We are hoping to be able to come again next year.
We are experienced world travelers and give Ca' Marcello our highest rating and praise : The apartments we stayed in, 4 bedrooms, living, kitchen, were exceptionally lovely, old world but perfectly modern and clean. Our sleeping quarters air conditioned to perfection. We had total access to the palazzo and wonderful gardens totally to ourselves during the week we stayed there. Its almost unbelievable that Jacopo Marcello and his father Vettor, took such personal care of us, cooking gorgeous meals when asked, making every kind of practical arrangements that we requested - Jacopo was the best concierge, host, tour-guide and friend that we could ever have hope for. This coming from an ancient and aristocratic family and home dating back to the 15th century and beyond.
Jacopo Marcello is totally capable, competent and delightful - just put yourselves in his hands and all will be well!!
There is English TV, a GREAT selection of DVDs, modern appliances, good WiFi, and history galore, if that's what you want!
We are delighted to offer this strong positive review.

The listing for this beautiful property was clear and comprehensive with a wide selection of accurate photographs. Twice a week cleaning and change of linen in the spacious and well equipped bathrooms and pretty bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with a large table to seat 8, leading into an elegant drawing room with a wide selection of CDs and DVDs, made this a most comfortable and luxurious place for our family of 9 to stay. An extra bed was provided for the ninth person.
The large garden of many acres is full of playful statues, the canal and Colombaia perfect for picnics and a football pitch and where we had freedom to walk and picnic at will. The private garden with swimming pool was perfect for us all, including two small children, with lots of sunbeds, a shady table, towels and toys. The Loggia is a delightful place for lunching and drinks, and lots of parking.
Our hosts were charming and so helpful and kind and keen that we should feel totally at home in their delightful house. This is a particularly relaxed and welcoming place to stay.
There are all the obvious places to visit but the local villages and Treviso are worth exploring. For anyone interested in the history of the Veneto and to experience a Palladian villa at first hand this is the place to stay. We loved it and would highly recommend it.
We had a truly wonderful stay at Ca' Marcello to surprise a newly engaged couple. The house itself is as breathtaking on the outside as it was on the inside and was a wonderful venue for a dinner on our first night. The food, wine and service laid on for us was exceptional. 18 acres of beautifully set gardens were a delight to walk through when not lounging by the pool. The rooms were very tastefully decorated with incredibly comfortable beds whilst the kitchen was well equipped for cooking for the ten of us. It was in an excellent position to visit the surrounding area, including Venice, Treviso and Castlefranco Veneto. A magnificent and memorable stay.
