My husband and I stayed in this cabin for a week during our annual hunting/fishing trip to Montana. We like the location (16 miles south of Big Timber) for access to our outdoor activities. This cabin was right on the West Boulder River which was a lovely setting. We fished the river (and caught) when we weren't off on an adventure. The cabin sits behind the owner's home and about four feet from two rental trailers (which were empty thank goodness), so if you're after privacy and space, this would not be your rental. That said, the owners left us to ourselves and were very trusting. Although the site says that you could have nine people in this cabin, I think that would be very uncomfortable. The kitchen and dining area is tiny, making cooking for nine people a likely challenge (for two of us it was adequate), and the little bathroom is also a main thoroughfare between the living room and dining room. If you're at the kitchen table, you are literally about five feet from the toilet. The loft with two bedrooms and lots of beds was charming as was the older nature of the home. The living room was comfortable and the house warmed up nicely with the gas fireplace and space heaters. Internet was sketchy, but that's not the owners fault -- it's just the rural nature of internet in that area. There's a great barbecue on the back porch and a lovely setting out there for outdoor meals and just hanging out. I dropped my star rating because the house didn't have a clean feel to it. Specifically, there were several slivers of soap in a soap dish in the shower, a used razor, etc. The bathroom cupboards had lots of used items, including children's tylenol, and no room for our bathroom items (I made room). The refrigerator and freezer had a lot of half-used items as well, although they were not outdated (I checked). And there were so many flies -- dead and alive. I imagine that if just one renter left windows open, this could happen. Since there was no dishwasher, several of the dishes I took out to use were not very clean, and there was a lack of kitchen items, like bowls, forks and some other things. The coffee pot was gross so we never used it. I think what bothered us most was the feel that someone grabbed their clothes and moved out so that we could rent the place for a week. We enjoyed our stay and I think this could be a lovely rental if some attention was paid to the cleanliness and organization.

Serene place to stay

  • 5 of 5

It was such a relaxing place to stay as it was right next to the beautiful babbling West Boulder River. Very private and had everything we could want in the cabin. The resort is beautiful with flowers surrounding the property as well as wildlife and perfectly manicured lawn. The scenery is unmatched with surrounding mountains and rivers. We could not have asked for a nicer spot!

Cozy and Fun!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week here in early April 2013. The weather was still cold and it snowed every night. What a great time we had in this cozy and warm cottage. The view from the French Doors in the kitchen was wonderful. Property was clean, bed was super comfortable and believe me we used the kitchen every day. We have stayed in many places over the past years and this certainly rates high on the list. Thank you to our hosts for such a nice place to stay!!!

McCleod Guest House

  • 5 of 5

The guest house is located right off the Boulder river. It has all the amenities of a home, with a kitchen, shower, living room and dining area. McCleod is a great area if you are looking to get away from the city and enjoy the quiet of the mountain area. Natural bridge is a short distance from the guest house and is always worth checking out. The guest house is clean and well maintained....Enjoy your stay!

Off the Beaten Path (It's a good thing)

  • 4 of 5

Had an ops to stay here a week ago. Loved it. Twas easy to book this location and just as simple to roll into the property. Right on Main Street McLeod, in the heart of the events. Next to the PostOffice and Garage.

Beautiful shoot of the Boulder River runs behind the prop as viewed in the fotos. Would return back here and most likely will.

Great Accomodations - Great Location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in the McLeod Resort guest house and it was fantastic. The West Boulder River flowed by out side of our bedroom window and was soothing to listen to at night. The guest house was also well maintained and contained everything we needed for the 3 night we stayed there. There was more than enough room for an additional 2 couples (we were glad that we were there alone). Also, the natural bridge is a natural wonder that should be seen by all. Will stay there again.
