Great location, great welcome, lovely property!

We stayed for 18 nights and really enjoyed the whole experience. Art met us and showed us all we needed then left us to 'chill', with the knowledge that if we needed anything he would be only too happy to help.

We found everything we needed at the property and it was peaceful and relaxing while we were there.

The gardener and pool man came maintaining the facilities with little intrusion .

We made visits to various 'must see' attractions and would thoroughly recommend a helicopter trip over LA and the coast. Also there are plenty of eating places nearby as well as Ralph's supermarket only five minutes drive.

We were all sorry to have to leave at the end of our stay and thank Art for sharing his home with us.

We couldn't have found a better place to stay. Peaceful location but close enough to everywhere 👍

What can I say. It was everything we had hoped for and more. The whole process of booking through HomeAway was easy, and making contact with Art was very quick. We chose this property because of the pictures, the accommodation was just right for our needs and the feedback left from others. Gable drive is a a quiet road and once you reach the house the views are amazing. The house itself is home from home, very pretty gardens surrounding it and a wonderful pool which we used every day. Inside the house the rooms are well equipped and spacious, very clean and tidy. The fridge freezer was enormous, cooker ideal and enough crockery and utensils to feed an army.

Art welcomed us when we arrived and explained all we needed to know, and if we were to need anything he would be close by. Thank you so much Art for letting us stay in your house. If we ever come to LA again we would love to stay again.

Relaxation at it's best!!!

We (family of four celebrating graduation,birthdays) enjoyed our week on Gable Dr!! Art's home is welcoming and lovely! Art was there to greet us and made me instantly feel at home! The views are as spectacular as the picture depicts! The house has everything you need!! We spent a lot of time visiting with family and friends so unfortunately we didn't get to use the pool but it was immaculate and so inviting!!! The location is perfect-right outside LA, convenient to all the major freeways. I would recommend Gable Dr to all!!!

It really worked out great and the owner was very helpful and easy to work with.

The property was exactly as described. Three nice sized bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen was great. The location is about a mile from a grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants, etc. which was a big plus for us. The pool and whirlpool were really nice. Art the owner was very helpful. The location is more or less between downtown attractions and Papanga and the Santa Monica mountains, so you can get to both pretty easily. Of course this is LA, so traffic no matter what you do.

Extremely disappointing!

My husband and I have stayed in 8 similar homes through HomeAway or VRBO in several states over the last few years. This was by far the most disappointing experience. So many little things added up: had to ask for washing machine soap since there was none with the machine; no extra napkins, toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, etc. other than what was there when we arrived; Art wasn't sure if there was gas in the grill but told us where to go (and pay for it) to get more if necessary; additional charge for a pet upon arrival despite the fact we had paid what the site requested in advance for a pet; told we couldn't heat & use the pool (never mentioned on the site); the spa didn't heat so we had to call for a repair; billed significant additional utilities after our return home but had to request documentation of charges (pictures of meters but no documentation verifying the dollar rates he's charging); couldn't use the garage; the bottom of the refrigerator was so filthy we didn't use the bottom shelf; one measuring cup in the kitchen and not one measuring spoon; basics in the kitchen were negligible (no flour, one salt and pepper shaker but nothing to refill with); gutters overflowing in the rain; paint peeling all over the back of the house; light bulbs burned out in several rooms; torn sliding screens; virtually no written instructions for the pool and spa (we used to own one so my husband knew what to do); no working light in the master shower and a very slow drain; no DVD player; no stereo system with which to play music (there was Bluetooth); electric cords all over the place. We knew we would be there in February so we didn't expect the yard to look like the pictures, but the grass and beds were full of weeds. Art indicated that we would see a gardener and a pool guy during our 10 day stay. He wanted us to ask the gardener to prune some shrubs for him and then "give him a tip." The master bed was comfortable, there was lots of outdoor seating, plenty of towels for the spa, more than adequate dishes, glasses & silverware. The general feeling you got was that Art was not invested in the property. It felt very neglected which was disappointing for the daily rental rate you are paying. He obviously had not checked out whether there were supplies or that things even worked despite the fact that he meets you there upon your arrival. The privacy was fabulous, the view lovely and it was very quiet, all of which were important to us.

Owner's Response: I am renting my house out for almost 7 years, usually fully booked, without any complaints ever, only very positive reviews. I have many returning quests, who come to spend their vacations here every year. I made many friends too, because of Home Away. I think it speaks for itself. This is the first negative review, nothing is true, or simply a ridiculous, vicious nonsense.. I don't want to go into these things much further, I think people understand everything, and can read between the lines, I don't need to defend, or explain myself, I'm proud of my perfect record in the past 7 years. I understand people are different, many good, and some not, and some are evil.. I will always do my best to satisfy my guests 100%.. Difficult to understand why people do this. In that case, I think they are just some very miserable people. At reservation they never mentioned a 75 lbs dog, because they knew, that I don't allow that. I only learned 4 days before their arrival. So, I charged them at arrival for that fee. They just tried to get away to pay the pet fee..That made them angry..I think this is why all these negative review is happening. But many guests are allergic to dog's hair, and it takes a special cleaning to sterilize the house, and the yard. The barbecue..I have no idea how much propane is inside the tank, but they had another full one ready. They wanted to heat the pool, but don't pay for the gas. It is very expensive here to heat the pool, about $25.00/day. Los Angelenos don't heat their pools, because of the cost. The website clearly states it. They complained to me about the spa, (I was out of the country on vacation too) I called the my pool service people, they didn't find anything wrong, other than they didn't wait long enough to heat up to 102, instead it was only 96.. Refrigerator dirty?? The house professionally cleaned, before guests arrive..They are with me ever since I rent out the house, they are the best.. And no flour? Lol..Although I don't buy groceries to the guests, still I found about 2 lbs. of flours. Gutters overflowing? Well, Los Angeles had the biggest storms, and floods in it's history, while they were here. Excuse me!! Finally the grass..Because of the drought in the past 10 years we can't water the lawn, only 2 times a week for 5 minutes in Los Angeles. Still my gardeners do a very good job, I don't see any weeds..Because of all the rain, it's possible that we had some weeds now, I don't know, but it will be gone soon.

In Encino,(located in Los Angeles) you are very close to everything..Universal Studios, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, the Mountains, or the Beach. Disneyland about 1 hr.or visit the Reagan Library. Many golf courses around , private or public. Tennis too. Beautiful parks. Hundreds of restaurants you can choose from. Yet the property very quiet, tranquil, private. This gated house located at the end of the street on the top of the hill. Even your cars are on a gated long driveway.

Other Activities: You will find a lot of place to shop, go down to the ocean boating,or fishing, or just get a suntan..Golf courses are all over, tennis too. Hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains, lot's of beautiful trails. Or you can just walk around the neighborhood, look at celebrities' homes.

Golf: Many Golf courses very close by, some are private, some public. You can see them from the house..

Ski: Skiing is excellent around Los Angeles, in the mountains. The closest one is about 1 hr. of drive from the house.
