Loved the location, had everything we needed.
Family 4 night stay
We really enjoyed the location, eating locally for a couple of nights, catching the Batobus from the Notre Dame terminal (8 minute walk) to visit some of the tourist attractions. The apartment was all good, very clean, large enough to be a good base in which we could also spend some downtime and watch a movie (there is a good stored selection on the PS3).
Comfortable Apartment in a GREAT location
Overall, this was a great apartment for the price! We loved the location. It was on a great street, just a few minutes walk to the metro and a very easy walk to Notre Dame and all of the areas of the left bank. The check in instructions were very clear. Our flight landed in the morning and we were able to drop our luggage off at the apartment while it was being cleaned. The kitchen was well stocked and there was a grocery store just a few doors down. The apartment was very comfortable for our family of 4 - the kids liked the bunk beds. All the reviews mention the 4 flights of stairs - so we were ready for this, but it was still tiring after a long day of touring. We stayed three nights. On Friday and Saturday nights, the street was quite lively until about 2:30 in the morning. If you close the window, you can't hear a thing. But it was loud with the window open, which we needed as it was an August stay. On Sunday night it was very quiet on the street, as I imagine it would be the rest of the week. I thought communication before we arrived to be a bit slow in getting responses to questions, but everything in the apartment was exactly as promised in the apartment description. No surprises or problems at all. I would definitely recommend for a family looking for a comfortable and affordable place to stay in the PERFECT location.
We are a family of 4 with 2 teenage kids. The bunk beds worked fine for the kids and the bed was comfortable. The location itself was great to walk over to Norte Dame and the Pantheon with close bus/metro service stops.
Due to there not being AC it was necessary to keep the window open and the one fan going, but it was not enough to mask the partying that goes on from local bars downstairs until 5 am on one occasion. Even with the fan and our earplugs, the noise was our biggest issue at this location. The bathroom could use a deeper cleaning. We had issues with the WiFi but after an email to the owner, were able to provide a workaround, although we never did get the TV functional. For some reason, the neighbor does not like the WiFi on, so whenever we left the building each day we had to turn it off (and if you forget, as we did on one occasion, he will come knocking on your door to ask that you turn it off). We also found it odd that the check-out time states 9:30 am.
On our last night, we stumbled on this great little area...so, if you do stay here, when you look up at the fork in the road, go to the left and walk straight up to another little square where there are several great restaurants and activity.
Overall, the stairs did not detract from our stay but the noise level did.
Thank you for your comments Moodie and for the extensive communication that we had with you throughout your stay. Very strange to hear from a New York guest about how "lively the latin Quarter" is. This is part of the charm of Paris. It is an energetic city and the apartment is in the heart of it.
The Fans provided, while not air/co, provide good cooling for most guests. It is true that the heat wave this year was exceptional but please don't expect to find A/C in a 16th century building (that would not also work from an architectural preservation standpoint).
If the intent is to experience Paris for an authentic feeling, then this is the perfect place. Of course, if the expectation is to find starbucks at every corner, AC everywhere and watch TV 24/7, then we can understand that this is not the perfect fit.
Latin Quarter, close to Notre Dame and the Pantheon
The location is very convenient to major sights, the metro and bus stations. It was very warm when we stayed and so we needed to leave the window open. Friday and Sat. were very noisy due to being over the bar, but we anticipated it. We suggest using earplugs...or go join them:-). Sun and Mon were much quieter. The space is clean and fit 4 of us. (2 teenagers on the bunks). A reminder that there is quite a staircase to climb with luggage. We didn’t use the washing machine, but we did use the self serve laundry station just a block down the road. Very easy to use. There is a great grocery store on the same side of the street, just down the road. We didn’t eat at any of the restaurants nearby, but they looked good. I would stsy here again!!
Sarah was a very responsive host. The apartment was very modern well equipped and comfortable .
The street was featured in Woody's Allen Midnight in Paris!
