FOR GOLFER'S: Raspberry Falls Golf and Hunt Club is a very well maintained club and part of the experience is traveling to the course and crossing on White's Ferry, it is like going back in time. The course is only 8 1/2 miles from the home.

The P.B. Dye Club is another great course and very challenging. In typical P.B. Dye fashion there are plenty of railroad ties that you can bounce your ball off on a bad shot. This is 15 miles from the house but seems closer, as it a nice country drive.

Whiskey Creek Golf club is about 15 miles from the house. It is very, very nice. Very well maintained with a lot of elevation changes

There is also easy access to hiking, canoeing, polo matches, winery tours, antiquing, biking or trail riding either your own or a rented horse, and public golf. We can help you find caterers to serve you meals at home, or help you find just the right restaurant for your outings.

Keywords: golf, horseback riding, hiking, polo, wineries, canoeing, fishing

Why Tony and Alyse chose Poolesville

I chose to build this house at this location because of the absolutely gorgeous scenery in horse country, the nearness of the local wineries and the close proximity to Washington, D.C.

What makes this estate unique

Horseback riding, polo, fishing, antiquing, wineries, golfing, the media room, gorgeous scenery, and the spa facilities are the favorite benefits of staying at this property.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had such a tranquil time at the lodge. Being there allowed each of us to leave distracting issues behind and center our focus on being together and soaking up the lovely views and atmosphere. It was a very special place to enjoy our grandson’s (and first grandchild) first Christmas.

Beautiful lodge, would love to rent again!

  • 5 of 5

My family, friends, and I rented Alyse and Tony’s property for New Years, and we had the best time ringing in 2018 together. The lodge was beautiful, warm, welcoming, cozy, and relaxing. There were 11 of us, and we had plenty of room to sleep, cook, and stretch out. Some of us played board games near the fire while others watched movies in the home theater. We brought our dog, and she loved running around outside, exploring the many acres and watching the horses. The lodge offered something for everyone, and we’d all love to return again. Alyse was such a helpful, welcoming host, and we thank her and Tony for sharing their beautiful home with us for the holidays. We would absolutely recommend this rental to other families looking for a quiet escape from the city.

The Perfect Luxury Farm House in horse & wine country

  • 5 of 5

To start off with, the communication with Alyse was flawless. We live on the West Coast, and I would e-mail here at 8:30 PM PST, 11:30 EST time she would respond 10 minutes later. She is very professional and very responsive to say the least.

Now about the house. I honestly could not think of one thing that I would change in that wonderful home. It is full of character, life, family & one of the most heart warming parts of the decor was the references to their faith through out the house. Something I wish I could see in more peoples homes.

The house is massive, and can host quite a bit of people even though we only had our family of 4 staying there. On the bottom level you have movie theater seating in front of a massive 70" flat screen ,two bedrooms, a full chefs kitchen and doors that open out to the beautiful fields filled with horses.

The second floor which is actually the floor you come in on has a great kitchen, small family room with TV off to the side that then leads you into the massive great room with open beam ceilings, beautiful fire place and a very large dining area & a baby grand piano. The entire room is lite up with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the beautiful farmland.

The top floor (where we slept) has two bedrooms with a Jack & Jill bathroom and very comfortable beds. You then have a wonderful library with leather couches and another large flatscreen TV, that looks down into the great room and great views out the windows. I am not sure how old the house is but it seems new, and everything is in perfect working condition.

We would spend evenings in the back yard along the fence and pet the horses that would come up and visit us. We would take strolls down the driveway and walk to the stables to see more horses and take in the beautiful setting that this house is on.

Words can not explain how special this house really is, and if it is in your budget you will find that it is worth every dollar that you spend.

Alyse & Tony, thank you for having your house on Home Away, it truly was a pleasure spending 4 days in your dream home, our children will remember this trip for the rest of their lives and so will we:)

God bless you both,

James

wonderful weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a leadership retreat here at this beautiful space and were totally delighted with both the accommodations, but also the magnificent view. The kitchen was fully appointed, so cooking for a larger group was easy and the dining room easily allowed us all to dine together. The location was not far from the city and yet we felt like we were out in the middle of the country. The nature abounds and the peace and quiet was palpable. I will absolutely stay here again.

Not quite what we expected

  • 3 of 5

The house is located in a beautiful location, horses on the horizon, and remote. Fantastic seclusion with our family. We enjoyed getting away. The house is not quite as nice as the photo suggests. It is quite rustic and needed attention. The light bulbs were missing in many lamps, lighting was poor in many rooms. Bathrooms are nice. Above all the matresses are very soft making sleep tough and needs replacement in our opinion. They had a problem with ants. Obviously with all the rain it is not really their fault.

Dead flowers were left in the kitchen. Perhaps form previous quests.

Owner's Response: I read your review with surprise, as we have never had a bad review. But I take all comments seriously. The light bulbs can easily be fixed, and the mattresses will be replaced. I appreciate your comments. Thank you.
