About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

This comfortable, bright home is located in the Bend District just 5 minutes north of Red Bluff. Nestled at the end of a quiet road, enjoy the view and relaxing sound of the Sacramento River as it flows by. Modern kitchen adjacent to large living room with flat screen TV. In the winter, the wood burning fireplace insert keeps the room cozy while family and friends gather for games around the bar, sitting in the sunny breakfast nook or watching TV or a DVD. In summer, the air conditioner keeps everyone cool and comfortable between dips in the pool. Large picture window in living room and kitchen provide view of river and wide open rolling hills beyond. From the back porch, enjoy view of Mt. Lassen, deer, wild turkeys or just relax with a drink and star gaze at night (always fun during meteor showers!).

Walk from the house down to the river or drive to hot spots for Steelhead and Rainbow trout at Bend Ferry Bridge (5 min) or Perry Riffle (8 min). Other great destinations include Redding (30 min), Whiskeytown Lake (35 min), Lake Shasta and the caverns (45 min), Chico (40 min), Lassen Volcanic National Park (60 min), Burney Falls (90 min),

Main bedroom has a queen bed, dresser and DVD player. The 'kids' room is furnished with a queen sized bed, a full/twin bunk bed and has a 1/2 bath. At the other end of the house, you will find an additional bedroom furnished with a twin sized bed, a couch and and cable TV.

The living room area has a futon that coverts to a full sized bed. Full bath from hallway has tub/shower.

About The Owner

Our familiy loves the outdoors and purchased this unique property within a few miles of the countless recreational opportunities in Tehema and Shasta counties. We enjoy swimming in the pool, fishing the Sacramento River, hiking, riding bikes, star gazing, and entertaining friends and family during the holidays. Nights are so quiet and peaceful and there are so many stars in the sky! Its an amazing place to relax and recharge!

The Owner purchased this house in 2008

Why The Owner chose Shasta Cascade

We have family and friends in Red Bluff and Redding. We visited this area many times and camped at Lake Shasta, Whiskeytown & Burney Falls. We always love coming back to this part of California with the cool, crisp winters and warm summers. The property is 3 hours from our home, so close enough to visit for the weekend, but far enough to unplug from our day to day responsibilities in the Bay Area.

What makes this house unique

The property is located close to so many beautiful and interesting places to visit. You can enjoy the expansive view of undeveloped BLM land, see and hear the river, experience wildlife ( deer, quail, turkeys, buzzards) and truly relax. It's a great home base for exploring Shasta Lake, Lassen Volcanic National Park, the Sacramento River and local fisheries.

Relaxing, beautiful, POOL what more can i say

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful house and location. Truly away from it all. The house is equipped with every thing you could need from fully stocked kitchen with all the appliances, pots/pans, you name it Ken has it there for you to pool toys for the kids. Heck I even found goodies for the dogs. We played in the pool all day while the hubby BBQ'd on back porch looking and listening to Sacramento River running by. You have the feeling like you left the busy world behind you, but if you get urge for some ice cream the store is only 14 miles away. Plenty of sleeping room for whole family and even lots of living room space so kids and adults can split up and watch separate TVs. Will for sure be back.

Private and Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This was our second trip to Northern California after passing through last summer on our way to Disneyland. We were enthralled by the gorgeous rolling hills and that fantastic sunshine. We decided to return for a few days at spring break, this time with the whole family - dog also. This property was the perfect location, about 7 minutes to I-5. You barely notice adjacent properties, and the view is all land management reserve. Every sunrise was remarkable, and the wildlife plentiful! The house is super well equipped and maintained, and was a perfect layout for our teen boys. The weather was fantastic in mid-March, although the pool remained too cool to swim. Still, we enjoyed being poolside in the sunshine. The owners were very responsive and easy to work with. It's our first VRBO, and I can't say enough about how well it all went. Hope to return ... thanks

Relaxing, quiet, pretty, clean ... just right

  • 5 of 5

This review is long overdue but better late than never! We stayed here last summer and loved our time here. It was super clean, well organized, well stocked, and very convenient to use. We imagined it must be a great place in the winter: warm, cozy, with heaters and a comfy fireplace to curl up by. Instead, we swam in the pool, cooked dinner on the barbecue, and ate dinner outside while watching the deer and wild turkeys in the backyard, listening to the river rush along below. It was completely quiet; we didn't hear any neighbors once (a very welcome change from the city!)

The owner was very easy to work with and super helpful with directions; he was also really accommodating when we had a last-minute change we needed to make to our schedule. He really went out of his way to help us out and it made our trip.

The Redding area is beautiful and we would happily stay in this house again on another trip.

Family gathering

  • 5 of 5

Pool was wonderful, weather was perfect. We saw eagles, deer, quail and rabbits. Very private and enjoyable to hear nature and not city life. Family gathering for our Mom's 90th. House had accommodations for seating by the pool, on the patio, at the bar and dining table for the BBQ. Swimming and playing games for the kids. Owner is great to work with. Look forward to returning. Recommended :)

This place was a soothing retreat that was difficult to leave. The setting is peaceful with the sounds of the river and the songbirds. Very relaxing to sit on the patio and watch the deer and the turkeys. The home is neat and tidy with all the accommodations we needed except for our preference for cooking with cast iron instead of Teflon. We arrived a day earlier than friends so cast iron was brought. There was four of us staying so we were quite comfortable. The fireplace is cozy and the pool cool this time of year but tolerable. None of us wanted to leave when our time was up. We all look forward to renting this place again!
