About Michelle & Tony

We have been living in the Hawaiian islands for over 30 years. After living on Maui for 14 years, we searched and found our beautiful property on Kauai in 1998. The view of Makeleha Waterfalls was too gorgeous to walk away from, so we decided to build our 'DreamHome' here. Fast forward a few years later and we now have our own 'slice of paradise'. We just had to share this great place with our family and friends, so we also built a separate Cottage which we named 'Mana Falls'.

The Hawaiian woman who actually named our street 'Ho`omaha Place' about 35 years ago, told me how she came upon that name. It means 'a place to Rejuvenate or Restore' and that is exactly how it feels to us and everyone who comes to visit. Just seeing the majestic mountains each morning gives me such peace and a sense of renewing my spirit. Meditation comes so easily here!! Hence the name 'Mana Falls' which you may know, is another word for Spirit.

We would welcome the opportunity to share our little island paradise with you and hope you will have a wonderful, spirit-lifting vacation of your dreams.

Michelle & Tony purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Michelle & Tony chose Kauai

We built our cottage in 2007 from the ground up and put all our love and energy into creating a restful, peaceful home away from home for our family & friends. The location is so central to all the wonderful scenic spots to enjoy on Kauai. The hubbub of Kapaa Town is a short 7 min. drive away, Hanalei Bay is only 45 mins, & Waimea Canyon is only 55 mins. away. And all along the drive north are spectacular lonely beaches that take your breath away.

What makes this cottage unique

Very close to all the sites to see here. Spend your time enjoying your activity and less time driving to it!!

Great place to stay on the east side

  • 4 of 5

This is a great location to stay if you're looking to head up north. We did a snorkeling tour with North Shore Charters and a massage at Angeline's, both of which were fantastic. There's traffic heading south, but if you take the Kapa'a bypass it's not too bad.

We were only here for 4 nights--I think with a longer stay, we'd appreciate more being able to use the kitchen and the grill. The kitchen has pretty much everything you could need (oven--no; convection oven, microwave and stove--yes). There's no a/c--doesn't matter much, as we really only missed it the first night.

Their neighbor's rooster is definitely an early bird. We discovered that if you close the bedroom windows and bathroom door and put a towel in front of it, he's not loud enough to wake you up. (They have earplugs just in case.)

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying at this cottage. The cottage had all the amenities that we needed for cooking our own meals and to be very comfortable. The hosts were happy to recommend things to see and restaurants to eat at. I would recommend this rental to anyone visiting Kauai. It was a very relaxing setting with great views from the house.

Enjoyable holiday!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was very comfortable. We were a short distance to town in the quiet countryside, just the kind of holiday we wanted. Although we were not there for the water sports, there was lots to do. Michelle & Tony were very accommodating. And the weather was great! We would recommend it.

Perfect place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were able to enjoy this cottage for five nights--I only wish we could stay longer. Michelle & Tony were very hospitable, and provided many great recommendations prior to arriving. While on the property, they provided even more recommendations to make our stay enjoyable. The cottage is located about 10 minutes out of the town of Kappa. A perfect location because it is quiet and serene, but an easy drive to the town for food, shopping & beaches. This was my first VRBO rental, and I was beyond satisfied. I was a bit worried about the roosters, but they were not as annoying as I expected nor did they impact our trip in anyway. I do recommend bug spray as there are mosquitoes, but don't let them stop you from enjoying the beautiful starlit sky. The kitchen was well equipped and we used the grill for our freshly purchased fish. The beach mats and towels were such a perk--as we were in the ocean every day. If you plan on snorkeling a lot, I recommend renting equipment. We appreciated the privacy our cottage had and felt very comfortable in our home for the week. We had no issues/complications whatsoever. I highly recommend this cottage to those who want privacy but want to be close enough to a town or highway for travel. You can get to some great beaches in about a half hour. The price is very reasonable considering the location and all that is included in the accommodation. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The cottage was the perfect size for the 2 of us. It was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Michelle and Tony are great hosts. It is in a lovely quiet area, & situated in a convenient position for exploring the island. The muffins were an added bonus - thank you so much Michelle!

Perfect Kauai Comfort and Serenity

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 8 glorious days at Michelle and Tony's cottage in late June/early July and experienced a vacation that was as close to perfect as you can get. The cottage is located in a perfect spot on the island - just a short drive from downtown Kapaa, which is perfectly situated to easily explore the entire island. The cottage is nestled on Michelle and Tony's beautiful property - breathtaking views of the mountains, a lush garden setting, and complete privacy from neighbors. The cottage itself has everything you could possibly need - fully equipped kitchen for cooking basic meals, nice sized lounge room and bedroom (very comfy bed!) and a large bathroom. The best part is that Michelle and Tony have thought of everything you might need while vacationing in Kauai. Coolers, beach chairs and towels, beach umbrellas, snorkeling gear, hiking teva shoes - all included. Michelle and Tony are also incredibly gracious and hospitable, always available via text or phone to answer my MANY questions about Kauai. But when you are not initiating contact, they give you complete privacy and space. Some of the best VRBO/AirBnB hosts we've ever encountered. At the end of a long day exploring the island, there was nothing better than coming back to the cottage, making some Mai Tais, and sitting outside in the garden listening to music. We had originally booked another accommodation that fell through shortly before we left for Kauai, and thankfully I came across Michelle and Tony's cottage. I am SO grateful the other place fell through because I can't imagine a better experience than the one we had at the cottage. If you are interested in staying at a place where you feel like a Kauai local, but with all the comforts you would expect while on vacation, then this property will not disappoint. A++
