We are two families with young children and we were blown away by the villa when we arrived. The views were amazing and the villa was lovely - so spacious. The photos don't do it justice. There was so much space inside and out and everything was very well maintained. The location was really quiet and peaceful. Dolceaqua is not too touristy. The only slight negatives were the windy road up to the villa from the town and the distance to a decent beach. We had a lovely relaxing holiday and would recommend this property.
The romantic town of Dolceacqua is situated 8 km north of Ventimiglia and is the picture perfect example of a medieval Ligurian town. Narrow mews wind their way up to the town's landmark, the ruined Doria Castle. The elegant stone bridge connecting the two village parts Terra and Borgo is another of Dolceacqua's attractive sights and once inspired the French painter Claude Monet. The area surrounding Dolceacqua produces olive oil and one of the best Ligurian red wines, called Rossese di Dolceacqua. This wine and many other regional specialities can be savoured in the many local restaurants or directly with the producers. Dolceacqua is the ideal base from where to visit places on the Cote d'Azur, Monte Carlo, Sanremo or for discovering the beautiful surroundings on foot or bike.
