Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday home in Florida North Central Gulf Coast - Lake House Blue

2 Bedrooms, 3 Full Bathrooms, sleeping for 6 with a queen blow up bed...

This professionally decorated home is centrally located between Orlando, Daytona Beach, and St. Augustine. Lake House Blue is at the end of a dock that stretches over 250 feet from the land for the ultimate in privacy. This beautiful home has upscale amenities inside (granite & stainless steel) with outdoor decks all around the house. There are two screened porches with rocking chairs, and one hammock. Bring your boat, or fish and crab on every side of the house. Relax while watching wildlife like Ospreys, Herons, Anhingas and the occasional Bald Eagle. ....GET AWAY FROM IT ALL.....YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID....

Fresh water Fishing: Fishing is good almost all year around. This lake made it's reputation on large mouth Bass, with tournaments coming out of Palatka on the St. Johns River.

A FAVORITE HONEYMOON HOUSE : Our past honeymooners say you can't beat this place for PRIVACY and SOLITUDE...

Daytona 500 one hour away: Don't miss the greatest Nascar event of the year. Not very far away, and the perfect place to get away from the crowds and relax when it is over.

About Dean Ellis

Our family has used this lake house as our get away from it all escape from reality. We have been pressured for many years to rent this property so everyone can get to enjoy one of Florida's most hidden and unusual secrets. Henry David Thoreau said ' A lake is a landscape's most beautiful and expressive features' A lake with a house in the middle of it is nature as it's best. We are very sorry we can't share our Lake House Blue with Mr. Thoreau, but we are sure he would love it....

Dean Ellis purchased this house in 1978

Why Dean Ellis chose Florida North Central Gulf Coast

We bought this lake house because we wanted to get back to the old Florida of days gone by. This area has changed very little compare to other parts of Florida. Just 25 miles North in Palatka was as far south people came around the turn of the 20th century. The great people of that era names like President Grant, Mrs. Lincoln, wanted to see the wild Florida and all it's natural wonders. Palatka had as many 100 Paddle Wheel boats tied up at the city docks. Years later Babe Ruth came a couple of years and taught a base ball school. Highway 17 is the original highway to Florida as well as US1 on the East coast. These are the things that I saw when my parents brought me thru this area in the 1950's. It made a lasting impression on me and I get to enjoy this area today just like I was a kid again...

What makes this house unique

This is a one of a kind home with class, modern features, and a view from every window and door. Wildlife is all around and likes to show off for our guest. Bald Eagles,Osprey's, Ducks,Blue Heron's,White Egret's, even an occasional Manatee. This is just the beginning because every month has a different supply of nature's best. Come experience the wonders of nature at it best....

The "Real Florida"

  • 5 of 5

Lake House Blue and the surrounding region is truly Florida at its finest. Our stay at Lake House Blue was an exceptional affair. The affair was short-lived, but long lasting in our memories. We are Florida natives (Jacksonville), and have camped, lodged, fished, vacationed and relaxed in every part of the state; from Key West to the springs of the northern regions, but Lake House Blue was an incomparable treat. During our stay we were transported to a part of Florida that few have seen, and less have experienced. From the first fish we caught, to the last meal we ate, we enjoyed every minute.

Our time at “The House” seemed to go by as if it were fluid. The days were occupied by fishing, sunbathing, and just plain relaxing. Whereas the nights were full of the smell of the grill cooking, the feel of the cool night breeze off the lake, and board games. The wildlife and the surrounding scenery created a calming setting; which any individual, at any age, will find not only soothing, but reassuring. While we were on the lake we observed various birds and fish. Even though we did not see any manatees, we did see a few “gators”. The sights and sounds of the lake instilled a passion in everyone, reminding us that there is still a beauty in nature that cannot be replicated by man. The heat of the day, complimented by the cool of the afternoon rain-showers, is an occurrence that everyone should have the pleasure of experiencing at least once in their lifetime. The hot days followed by the cool evenings produced a sub-tropical feel, and generated a surreal sensation that will survive in our memories forevermore. Likewise, the magnificent lighting shows that occurred occasionally were a sight to see; electrifying in their brilliance, beautiful in their magnificence, and breathtaking in their grandeur. The hospitality of our host was awesome. Every advantage that our host could allow us was given, every amenity was secured, and every question answered. The completeness of the accommodations was flawless. From the maritime motif, to the provisions provided, Lake House Blue was impeccable. The look, feel, and ambiance of “The House” were picture-perfect. We felt as if the Ellis family had read our minds and then proceeded to fulfill our Florida fantasies. We are hoping (actually yearning) to go back. We had such a “Florida experience” I believe even Hemmingway would be envious.

Owner's Response: WOW!!! This review is off the charts in our book. We are so pleased that you took the time to say in detail what we have known for over 40 years but we could never find the words to say it as well as you did here. We have had so many requests from friends and family to rent this house over the years because they said this is a spot in Florida that everyone should experience. We heard this so many times that we just had to start sharing it with others. This is the kind of response we have hoped for. We felt if we could provide a home that was comfortable then nature could take it from there. Thank you for being being our guest at Lake House Blue and it was our pleasure to have you!!

Best sleep on crescent lake

  • 5 of 5

This is the best place on the lake to tie your boat up and get a good nights rest after a long day of fishing. I will be returning soon.

Owner's Response: Fishermen always know what's inportant. Good fishing, good tie off's, and a great nights sleep. We would like to add that a good full flow shower is a nice convience as well. We have all those bases covered at Lake House Blue. If you can find a more confortable fishing location we would love to know about it.....Thanks for trying our favorite spot, we thought you would like it....Dean and Amy

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we walked in the door, we knew this place was special. It is beautiful in every direction you look. Very peaceful and private. The house was very clean, well maintained, and very comfortable beds. We had great luck catching sunfish, brim, catfish and 2 sting rays! Made for a terrific fish fry 2 nights! We even saw manatee swimming by. Recommend renting boat (from McGee's boat rental located at Georgia Boys Fish Camp) if you want to see the lake and all that nature has to offer. And don't miss The 3 Bananas restaurant just down the road. Food was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lake House Blue and highly recommend this place to others. Sincerely hope to visit again soon.

A unique, charming Florida get away

  • 5 of 5

Lake House Blue is a beautiful piece of property. We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary there with our adult children. When they opened the door everyone of them said "WOW!" The house was immaculate, and decorated to a tee. So very charming. The Ellis family has gone above and beyond when it comes to making the house unique. They spared no coins on the decorations and the comfort. You will find many unique pieces all around the house. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The kitchen was equipped with everything you might need. It was as if we were vacationing on a houseboat but without the rocking and rolling. Wake to the beautiful sunrises over the lake in the morning, and enjoy the sunset and beautiful skies in the evening. Wildlife is everywhere. It's the perfect get-away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It was hard to pack up and leave.

Perfect mini vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had an awesome time at Lake House Blue. Everything was as advertised...we spent 2 nights there and loved every minute of it. We fished and caught several fish right off the dock including some really nice sized channel catfish. The views were amazing and we saw lots of herons, osprey, and eagles. We even saw a gator swimming in the lake out in front of the house. We went to 3 Bananas for lunch one day and it was excellent for both the lake views and the food. My wife did some shopping at the local antique stores as well. The bed in the master was very comfortable....it was great going to sleep listening to the waves. We highly recommend this home and hope to return for a full week in the not too distant future.

Owner's Response: Thank you for a great review. You guys found a lot of our favorites places very quickly. But we can see it was nature that stole your heart. That's exactly what happen to us over 40 years ago and is why we have been coming back ever sense. It is so nice to be able to offer a Florida setting that most people know nothing about. This is old Florida of days gone by. This area was populated by Civil War soldiers who past by during the war and then came back and settled down. Then in the late 1800's this was all of known Florida, because going futher south didn't happen until much later. ....That is why we consider ourselves very lucky to be in this great little town and in a part of the state that has it's own historic identity. ...........Come back and stay longer, because we still have a lot more to see and do....

Located within an hour's drive are Ravine State Gardens in Palatka; Deland, with Blue Springs and DeLeon Springs (the real Fountain of Youth); the Ocala National Forrest with Juniper, Salt and World Famous Silver Springs; Daytona with its shopping, Daytona International Speedway & Museum and famous beaches; Flagler County, Marineland; and the historic city of St. Augustine.
