This professionally decorated home is centrally located between Orlando, Daytona Beach, and St. Augustine. Lake House Blue is at the end of a dock that stretches over 250 feet from the land for the ultimate in privacy. This beautiful home has upscale amenities inside (granite & stainless steel) with outdoor decks all around the house. There are two screened porches with rocking chairs, and one hammock. Bring your boat, or fish and crab on every side of the house. Relax while watching wildlife like Ospreys, Herons, Anhingas and the occasional Bald Eagle. ....GET AWAY FROM IT ALL.....YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID....

Fresh water Fishing: Fishing is good almost all year around. This lake made it's reputation on large mouth Bass, with tournaments coming out of Palatka on the St. Johns River. For our BOATERS we have TIDE SLIDES to moor your boat tight to the dock and move with the tide and waves.

About Dean Ellis

Our family has used this lake house as our get away from it all escape from reality. We have been pressured for many years to rent this property so everyone can get to enjoy one of Florida's most hidden and unusual secrets. Henry David Thoreau said ' A lake is a landscape's most beautiful and expressive features' A lake with a house in the middle of it is nature as it's best. We are very sorry we can't share our Lake House Blue with Mr. Thoreau, but we are sure he would love it....

Dean Ellis purchased this house in 1978

Why Dean Ellis chose Florida North Central Gulf Coast

We bought this lake house because we wanted to get back to the old Florida of days gone by. This area has changed very little compare to other parts of Florida. Just 25 miles North in Palatka was as far south people came around the turn of the 20th century. The great people of that era names like President Grant, Mrs. Lincoln, wanted to see the wild Florida and all it's natural wonders. Palatka had as many 100 Paddle Wheel boats tied up at the city docks. Years later Babe Ruth came a couple of years and taught a base ball school. Highway 17 is the original highway to Florida as well as US1 on the East coast. These are the things that I saw when my parents brought me thru this area in the 1950's. It made a lasting impression on me and I get to enjoy this area today just like I was a kid again...

What makes this house unique

This is a one of a kind home with class, modern features, and a view from every window and door. Wildlife is all around and likes to show off for our guest. Bald Eagles,Osprey's, Ducks,Blue Heron's,White Egret's, even an occasional Manatee. This is just the beginning because every month has a different supply of nature's best. Come experience the wonders of nature at it best....

We absolutly love this place

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Lake House Blue, I can't say enough about it, the house is really nice and well equiped with every thing you need to have a great time weather it be just sit back and relax waching the wildlife or getting out on the water. We rented a pontoon boat from McGhee's for the weekend, we picked it up Friday afternoon and took it back Monday morning so as you can imagine we spent a lot of time on the lake but sitting on the pourch in the morning watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee has to be the most relaxing ever, We did not want to leave.

Owner's Response: Thank you for a great review. We are so glad that you mentioned your pontoon rental from McGhee's because we have had very good luck with them over the years. Lake Crescent is a Pontoon lovers paradice. Plenty of open water and the shore line has many interesting features. We love it when we hear how our guests get the most from their stay.....and having coffee on the East porch at sun up, ....that is one of our favorite things to do when we are there too... Coffee Lake House Blue style is something you will never forget....Thank you again for your repeat visit, we loved having you..

Uniquely relaxing and entertaining.

  • 5 of 5

If your goal is relaxation, Lake House Blue is hard to beat. From the pictures it must be obvious that it is a place for getting away from it all, quiet and peaceful, beautiful inside and out, and full of the accouterments for taking it easy (hammock, easy chairs, plenty of hot showers, etc.).

As far as being entertaining, that too should be evident. We are not fishermen, but we are nature lovers and, almost as important, sailboat enthusiasts. The four of us came down the St. John's River in two small sailboats, motored down Dunn's Creek, then sailed right up to the dock of this beautiful retreat! We also had a nice sail the next day. Staying here was one of the highlights of our nine-day trip. We saw gators, osprey, ducks, and many other water birds while staying here.

We all felt that the hosts were doing everything possible to make our stay here as convenient and enjoyable as possible, and we truly appreciate them making this unique property available to guests.

Owner's Response: What great and unusual guest who know how to travel. When we first heard from these guest and they told me what they were planning for their vacation I was envious. Sailing down the Saint Johns in two small boats has to be a great experience few people ever get to try. Doing it with close friends makes the trip even more special and enjoyable. We are so pleased you picked our Lake House Blue be your resting spot. Guest who plan this far in advance to have a trip of this kind are special people indeed. We love to learn about the experiences our guest have had in the area and this is one of the most unusual and well thought out vacations we have seen. Thank you for including LHB in your plans, and we are so pleased to have played a small part in your adventure......

Owner's Response: Thank you for a great review. I am so glad you posted current comments on catching fish. We get a lot of questions about how good the fishing is around the house? We have learned some fishermen treat this information as top secret. We know fishing has been good for several years now. Why? I can't tell you that, because I don't know. What we do know is that fishing is at it's best in the spring and fall as peaks, but we get good reports all year long from our guest. We also know the warmer the water the better the Crab fishing is......We hope you come back soon and try your luck again.......

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed with a friend for 4 nights and five days. We went for the fishing and absolutely loved the cottage and the location. The house was beautifully decorated; hands down the best vacation house I have ever stayed in. The kitchen was very well equipped, right down to top of the line pots and pans. The owners put a lot of thought into every detail. I highly recommend this vacation destination!

Owner's Response: Thank you for a great review. We try very hard to provide a rental that our guest will love. It takes a lot of work for that to happen, but we are so thrilled when our guest appreciate our efforts. We have always wanted to provide fishing accommodations that wives would say "you are not leaving me home and I am going with you".....Fishing is a great Florida tradition and we think everyone should have the opportunity to try their luck....We hope these guests come back soon........

The area serves as a hub for day trips to nearby shopping, recreation and tourism. Located within an hour's drive are Ravine State Gardens in Palatka; Deland, with Blue Springs and DeLeon Springs (the real Fountain of Youth); the Ocala National Forrest with Juniper, Salt and World Famous Silver Springs; Daytona with its shopping, Daytona International Speedway & Museum and famous beaches; Flagler County, Marineland; and the historic city of St. Augustine. Within two hour's drive are Jacksonville, Orlando, Walt Disney World Resort, Universal and MGM, Sea World, Kennedy Space Center, and Mount Dora for the antique lovers. All this from the Bass Capital of Florida.

Other Activities: Swimming 1 mile away at Lake Stella with picnic area and restrooms

Golf: The Live Oak golf course is a local venue, and fancy it's not. But the locals like the idea of having their own private setting. There is also a municipal course in Palatka that is only about 30 miles away. Now, if you are a serious golfer there is St. Augustine, Daytona and Orlando that can fill any dream you might have.
