In the heart of Century City, Westwood Cottage is one block west of Century Park West just north of Olympic Bl. Westwood is a district in western Los Angeles, California and best known as the home of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Century City is an important business center located on the West Side of Los Angeles, California. Many law firms and executives--particularly those with ties to the film, television, and music industries--have offices here. Century City is bounded by Westwood on the west, Rancho Park on the southwest, Cheviot Hills and Beverlywood on the southeast, and the city of Beverly Hills on the northeast. Its major thoroughfares are Santa Monica, Olympic, and Pico Boulevards (its northern boundary, central artery, and southern boundary, respectively), as well as Avenue of the Stars and Century Park East and West.

Why Valerie Lapena chose Century City

We bought this property because of its charm and convenient location with 2 major supermarkets, 2 large shopping malls and its proximity to UCLA and Beverly Hills!

What makes this cottage unique

Enjoy the proximity of Ralphs Supermarket across the street and walking distance to Century City Westfield Shopping Center/Beverly Hills.

Guestbook comments from the owner

When we read the reviews and saw the wonderful recommendations we thought that there must be a catch. We had to be in LA for 5/6 weeks over the Christmas period and we needed to be positioned centrally, so we took a chance as the location seemed perfect. And it was.

But better still, when we arrived and opened the wooden gate, we were absolutely delighted:

The cottage was stunning and the garden (with various seating areas and white lights woven through the trees) was filled with amazing plants, humming birds, a squirrel as well as an adorable bunny called Bonbon sitting in her hutch.

Then opening the front door and seeing the fabulous large sitting room, the stunning lead windows, the beamed ceilings, the built-in benches, fireplace on the left, and the vast desk space on the right, which led to either the dining room, kitchen and utility area or via a handsome wooden staircase, to a very lovely bedroom and bathroom with plenty of closet and hanging space - we just knew that we would be very happy.

The cottage is also well stocked with absolutely everything you may need. Just across the road there is a Ralphs supermarket (open until late). And a 15 minute walk takes you to the superb Westfield Century City shopping mall with great shops and restaurants. Yet once you return to the secluded cottage - you cannot believe that you are actually living in a city.

Gustavo, Valerie, and their daughter Nicolette were also great neighbours. They were attentive and helpful and yet our privacy was respected.

A big thank you Valerie, Gustavo and Nicolette. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and meeting you all.

A Storybook Cottage in Westwood

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this storybook cottage for a week while on business, it was perfect for me. You are in your own house and it's a big place with beautiful wood paneling everywhere. Nicely decorated and a remodeled bathroom with a great shower is a plus.

Not problems for me, but do be aware that there are stairs to be climbed to get to the cottage and there's only street parking. Having the Ralphs grocery store across the street was a huge plus, and they're open late. it's a great location and I would definitely stay here again when back in the area.

Delightful cottage with old-world charm

  • 5 of 5

I fell in love with Westwood Cottage when I first saw the photos on VRBO, and the reality of the place is even more perfect. As soon as you walk up the steps and through the wooden gate, you enter an exquisite garden that feels like something out of a Pottery Barn catalog--and I mean that in the best possible way. Comfortable seating arrangements and a dining table invite you to take full advantage of cool and breezy LA nights. White lights are woven through the trees, and they automatically turn on when the sun goes down, creating the most magical atmosphere.

Once you step inside the cottage, you're transported to the English countryside. Wooden walls, beamed ceilings, built-in benches, add a fireplace add to the ambience. The first floor features a living room with a large table that serve as a work area, a dining room, kitchen with dishwasher, and small laundry area. Upstairs is a good-sized bedroom and a full bath. Closet spaces abounds, with two closets in the bedroom and additional space in the dining room. The cottage is well appointed, with sheets, towels, dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans.

My husband and I spent six weeks here, and it felt like home from the very beginning. Gustavo, Valerie, and their daughter Nicolette could not have been more charming. They have managed to find the perfect balance when interacting with their guests: attentive and responsive, but never hovering. If you're the sort of traveler who wants the owner of the property to be available to you, you'll find that here. But if you cherish your privacy, you could stay here for weeks and never see them. Clearly, it's a win-win.

The location of Westwood Cottage is ideal, and there's so much within walking distance. The Westfield Century City mall is just a half-mile away, Rodeo Drive is less than two miles, and numerous restaurants are within just a few blocks.

From warm ambience to a lovely neighborhood...from fabulous owners to proximity to some of the best that LA has to offer...Westwood Cottage has it all. I look forward to returning as often as I can.

Thanks, Gustavo and Valerie! Hugs to you, Nicolette!

Really wonderful place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

I had a wonderful time here. I stayed here for 3 months while working next door at Fox Studios. I felt like this was a second home. Gus and Valerie are lovely. Very helpful and attentive. The house has everything you would need. The Garden is very relaxing and you don't feel like you are in LA. You are very close to everything. I was here by myself but you could easily host a family. The master bedroom has a King size bed and a twin bed and downstairs in the living room is a pullout sofa bed.

I highly recommend this cottage. This is a lovely enchanted place to stay. I will definitely come back. Thank you Valerie and Gus.

Out of a fairytale

  • 5 of 5

This was a really sweet cottage with the cutest garden! Everything was in working order. I wish we had stayed on a less rainy day so we could've enjoyed the outdoor space more, but it was a great choice. The owners were friendly and helpful, we definitely recommend staying here.

Great location. Close to UCLA. Fun history to learn about the cottage! Great hosts>

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Gus and Valerie were so welcoming and helpful. We were moving our daughter into UCLA and this place was ideal. Ralph's is right across the street for grocery shopping. The mall is walking distance from the cottage. We will definitely be booking again.

A Perfect Setting and Stay

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Westwood Cottage can be summed up in one word: perfect! It was exactly as described and exceptionally clean, and the owners were easy to contact and exceptionally helpful. The location is ideal, especially with a Ralph's right across the street. We were also able to find our way to restaurants, shops and UCLA with ease. My daughter and I not only enjoyed the feeling of being at home but also having a vacation-like experience with the lovely garden settings and true vintage (but not outdated) features of the cottage. We will definitely return to Westwood Cottage on a future trip to LA.
