Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cottage in Century City - Westwood Cottage UCLA/Century

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 3-5)

In the heart of Century City, our Westwood cottage is one block west of Century Park West just north of Olympic Bl. Westwood is a district in western Los Angeles, California. Westwood is best known as the home of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Century City is an important business center located on the West Side of Los Angeles, California. Many law firms and executives--particularly those with ties to the film, television, and music industries--have offices here. Century City is bounded by Westwood on the west, Rancho Park on the southwest, Cheviot Hills and Beverlywood on the southeast, and the city of Beverly Hills on the northeast. Its major thoroughfares are Santa Monica, Olympic, and Pico Boulevards (its northern boundary, central artery, and southern boundary, respectively), as well as Avenue of the Stars and Century Park East and West.

Keywords: Exquisite, 1930's cottage in quaint, English garden, patio setting with enclosed yard in the Westwood/Century City area. This vacation rental is in the shadow of the Fox Tower from the Die Hard films and behind the Fox Studios. It is a two-story, one-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage with 1100 square feet; it features a full kitchen with granite countertops, all appliances, including washer and dryer.

Walk to two major supermarkets (Ralphs Fresh Faire across the street and Gelsons in Century City Shopping town), Farmers Market in Century City Business District once a week, Century City AMC movie theatre, public golf course and park with tennis and public pool, and Century City shopping. Century City foodcourt and movie theatre just underwent a major renovation and you can walk to it from the cottage!

Beverly Hills is a short walk away. Within a few miles of UCLA and Westwood Village. The cottage is in one of the most desirable 'walking neighborhoods' of West Los Angeles. This vacati

Why Valerie Lapena chose Los Angeles

We bought this property because of its charm and its convenient location with 2 major supermarkets, 2 large shopping malls and its proximity to UCLA and Beverly Hills!

What makes this cottage unique

Enjoy the proximity of Ralphs Supermarket across the street and walking distance to Century City Mall/Beverly Hills.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful 2 months stay at Westwood Cottage in 2008. The delightful garden was a favourite place to have breakfast or lunch. We felt immediately at home and appreciated the owners friendly yet respectful help and always great advice on restaurants and local amenities. The Westfield Century City Mall is a fabulous resource only 5 minutes stroll away with a plethora of great restaurants, multiplex cinema and shopping - a great convenience we took every advantage of! Not to mention Ralph's right across the street. The wood features everywhere lend a gorgeous warmth and the house is tastefully decorated; the bed is super comfy. Staying for such a length of time we also took advantage of the additional weekly maid service which meant the place always felt fresh, clean and tidy. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here however long or short!

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Gus and Valerie were so welcoming and helpful. We were moving our daughter into UCLA and this place was ideal. Ralph's is right across the street for grocery shopping. The mall is walking distance from the cottage. We will definitely be booking again.

A Perfect Setting and Stay

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Westwood Cottage can be summed up in one word: perfect! It was exactly as described and exceptionally clean, and the owners were easy to contact and exceptionally helpful. The location is ideal, especially with a Ralph's right across the street. We were also able to find our way to restaurants, shops and UCLA with ease. My daughter and I not only enjoyed the feeling of being at home but also having a vacation-like experience with the lovely garden settings and true vintage (but not outdated) features of the cottage. We will definitely return to Westwood Cottage on a future trip to LA.

Wonderful property with gorgeous yard, conveniently located.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Westwood cottage. The cottage is lovely, with large rooms and a lot of character. It was a good size for three people; two of us shared the bedroom (with a twin and a queen bed) and the third slept on the sofa bed in the living room. There's a nice memory foam pad in the closet to put on the sofa bed as well. We had breakfast outside each morning in the very nicely landscaped yard, where you could choose to sit at a nice table or lounge on comfortable couches under shady trees. The house and yard have a secluded feel, event though right off a busy street.

The house is conveniently located to the beach, the Getty museum, LACMA, and many other L.A. attractions. Parking was available right on the street outside the house. There's a large grocery store directly across the street and a mall only a few blocks away.

We had a great experience at the Westwood Cottage and would definitely recommend it.

Perfect place for a short or long stay in LA.

  • 5 of 5

We spent 6 weeks at Westwood Cottage and have only positive things to say about it. Our favorite feature was the garden, where we hosted our many friends and relaxed at all hours of the day. The cottage is very comfortable for an extended stay and has the beautiful feel of old LA, which is what we love. Valerie and her family were extremely friendly, welcoming and attentive to our needs. We could not have asked for a better home for our summer vacation.

Beautiful property, hosts warm, caring and thoughtful

  • 5 of 5

Grateful for a wonderful visit at Westwood Cottage.

Beautiful property, hosts warm, caring and thoughtful.

What an amazingly wonderful accommodation, supporting

our week long stay to celebrate daughters

graduation from UCLA .

We appreciate every respect of our VRBO choice:

Charming home, creating the setting for feelings of

space and tranquility, beautiful large garden and a "great homes" neighborhood,

fun taking an evening stroll admiring home styles and landscaping, as well

easy travel /distance to many L.A. attractions.

Also this location is walking distance to groceries and shopping!

Finally we deeply appreciate our hosts anticipation of our needs with a welcoming friendliness, and

attention to detail making this not only a comfortable visit in every way

but heartfelt!

This home is centrally located with sounds of the city nearby, but somehow seemingly

removed due to it's situation, set back and up from the

street and surrounded by a "Zen" garden with canopy of trees and flowers.

Look forward to our next visit,

Thank you again, Valerie and Family!

A perfect escape in the middle of LA

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed at Westwood Cottage for just over 2 months as a part of my sabbatical at UCLA, and my wife with two kids came over for several weeks to visit South Cal.

From the day one, Valerie and Gustavo made us feel at home; we really felt that we have found new friends. Notably, you get as much help/engagements or privacy from them and you'd like to. The cottage has a distinct old English charm, with beamed high ceilings, nice fireplace, etc. The garden is remarkable, with mature trees, hummingbirds and even a cute rabbit Petunia. A few more touches, and it would fit well in the Disneyland. Overall, a great place to hang out and relax after a busy LA day. While there are many apartment/condo alternatives on VRBO, I did not see anything similar offered for rent, anywhere close.

The location is just superb: 9 min drive/35 min walk to UCLA; 1min walk to Ralphs and 10 min walk to the huge shopping mall with restaurants, kids playroom, etc. You are essentially in the centre of everything, but don't feel that way after you step past the gate in the garden. The only thing that reminds where you are is the street noise (it is also felt inside the house, particularly in the morning).

I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.
