Old Lime Kiln Cottage is our family guest house, now offered as a rental, June through October. Weeklong stays preferred. 'One of the last pieces of fairlyland' has been said of our acres, which welcome vacationers.. It is very easy to get to nearby beaches and restaurants. Just take our road across Hwy 57, turn right on Town Line Road, left on German Road and be in the heart of Ephraim. Call me to discuss whether my place is right for your group.
Carol Sills purchased this cottage in 1971
We were interested in the land itself and the 1870 homestead on it. Another family lived here for a century and there is clear evidence that before that, American Indians summered here. This rental unit offers good privacy, even at the height of the season, in beautiful surroundings.
Gathering around the table, which is central to the cottage has been so much fun. Two couples or one couple with children, or a group of five, do easily share this space.
What a wonderful place to stay! The cottage is very well kept and has beautiful views of Carol's property. Plenty of room for the children to play and for the adults to relax! The location is perfect if you want to visit neighboring towns. This was our first vacation rental and we could not have asked for a better experience.
Stayed to nights as a party of 5 adults, although a cottage it had more than enough room for us and everyone had a comfortable bed. Carol was extremely helpful, hospitable and just very a nice lady. The cottage and the surroundings were more than we could have hoped for and the only wish we had was that we could have stayed longer.
We grilled both nights and sat outside around the fire. The cottage is just a few miles from the gorgeous beaches of ephraim. All in all everything was perfect and couldn't have hoped for more. Thank you Carol!
Yes... you will love this place.
Our family (includes three children 9 & under) absolutely loved this cottage. Carol is a spectacular host and has her property clean and ready for you to relax and enjoy your stay in Door County.
This cottage has century old character, but has been updated to provide all the necessary and expected amenities for your vacation stay. The view of the wildflower meadow outside the home, sets the stage for a perfect visit.
This property is roomier that the pictures show. The master bedroom is on the first floor in addition to a first floor bed 'under' the stairs, with an upstairs bedroom holding two more beds.
The location is great also, Nearly all of northern Door County's activities are a quick 5-15 minute drive, including Fish Creek, Bailey's Harbor, Ephraim, Sister Bay and Egg Harbor.
We will definitely be looking forward to a return visit in the future.
Your cottage was absolutely wonderful. Staying there is a memory that we know our children will remember for many years. We were so pleased with your hospitality and the preparedness of the cottage. Everything we needed was there and we loved the charm of the place.
Having been first time Door County visitors, we took the time to visit nearly all the towns in the area and have decided that we will return in the future to 'take more in.' The local ownership of the businesses was such a pleasant surprise. We really enjoyed the variety of activities and the opportunity to just relax for a few days.
All the best to you ... thanks again for offering such a wonderful place to stay.
I have spent many happy times at the Sills cabin. Its very 'Door County' & that makes is what makes it so enchanting; beautiful setting, historic, peaceful, creativily decorated... Visitors are very lucky to share in this family's homestead summertime.
Located right in the middle of the county, we could get around easily...but why would we go anywhere? Placed at the edge of a gorgeous wildflower field, the cabin gave us all that we needed for a totally private and stress free stay (Koepsal's Farm Market being a mile up the road was also handy). The daytime view is pristine--over the week, we spotted a pair of sand-hill cranes, many deer, and even a few turkeys--and night-time star gazing? Breathtaking. Thank you, Carol!
