Would not stay again

  • 3 of 5

We were 5 gals there for a week get away, made the reservation in January,, when we arrived a mix up in the reservation and 4 other people were there,,It turned out well as they were so gracious as to leave for they lived only 30 minutes away and we were 8 hrs away and had made their res only a few months before..First impressions as we drove in driveway not really good, junk all laying on side of garage, house is peeling,etc.. but to their defense they are having it sided and when done will look very nice,, they need to do a lot of cleanup and clearing in yards and area going down very bad steps to door..

Inside.. Iwill tell you this house was a great disappointment, house was all around dirty (If they have a cleaner A new one should be hired) and musty smelling, couch in living room smelled and just appeared dirty,, A new couch is extremely needed.. We had to wash bedclothes from the two rooms being occupied and we washed all others as they just did not appear clean Where they kept washer and dryer was a total mess and dirty and musty, and a have a heart trap was just sitting there. One room that had a topper on bed was all stained, threw that in the closet,,We washed covers that were on the couch also..Small deck in back which had a bird feeder on it continuously full of seeds and bird droppings,, not very appealing at all.. As you can see from this picture a cute little deck but hazardous to say the least, no railings and drop off would not be pleasant..2 very nice rooms was the kitchen with updates and the new bathroom upstairs just gorgeous...I still would not recommend this to anyone until they clean their act up.. I will say the location was good,, you can get everywhere very easily..I wish I had a better review but I do not..When you rent a place you of course take your chances,, but there is absolutely no excuse to have people rent a non cleaned home.. We have rented many together and this was the first disappointing one..

We stayed here for thanksgiving & could not believe how wonderful the house & the view of the water . The kitchen was amazing & we absolutely loved the room with the woodstove & all the windows facing the water..And the master bathroom with the steam shower made me feel like I was at a spa! Best vacation we have had in a good long while. We cant wait until this Thanksgiving. We already have it booked!!!

My wife, son & daughter, couldn't have had more fun. Not having driven here , we enjoyed picture perfect New England neighborhood walks to "Kittery Foreside" the quaint down town area. You must sample the fare @ Anneka Jans a gourmet bistro style restaurant & pub.. Fresh off the boat seafood, a specialty.. You have a brisk 15 min. walk to spark your appetite, then the same on your short stroll home. Cars are for sissies.. A little farther, and you're availed of a host of fine eateries & shoppes in Portsmouth NH, just over the new Bridge.. Maybe total 20 min walk, we did it in 15 min. but that was on the way over, & hungry.. Don't think you have to go out to enjoy this cozy home.. The kitchen is well equipped & stocked w/ spices & cooking basics.. A weber grill allowed us to BBQ just out the slider to the "Wedding Deck" according to Janie,( the manager) the owners husband built the deck & they were married there, some years ago.. All in all a restfull & enjoyable stay. I'll never forget the River View of the mighty Piscataqua

Home Away From Home

  • 4 of 5

I was looking for a quaint New England home where my girlfriend and I could have a "girl's week" away from work and husbands. This lovely home was the perfect fit for us. It was walking distance to Portsmouth where there are some wonderful shops and very close driving distance to the outlet stores. The house was quaint and the yard is lovely. The view of the bridge is great and it is so relaxing to sit on the deck or be in the dining room to see it when it goes up and down. We enjoyed cooking our own seafood picked up from the docks just off the boats! How much fresher can you get than that? I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this great "home away from home".

A Great Treasure

  • 3 of 5

We had a wonderful time, although too short! When we arrived home from our trip there was a message from Janey, the manager of the property, thanking us for leaving the house in such good condition. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for our deposit and have had no luck getting a response from the owner. Very disappointing, as we would love to return.

Historic Kittery is across the Piscataqua River from Portsmouth NH. Our home is a short walk to Kittery Foreside or downtown Portsmouth, where shops & restaurants abound. We enjoy a dramatic view of the River & a parade of recreational & commercial ships & yachts passing under the graceful 'Sarah Long Bridge'. We look down on a tidal creek / bay which is a magnet for all sorts of sea & shore birds. Swans, Geese, Ducks & the occasional Rapter swoop & wheel. The fenced yard boasts a perennial garden which was designed to attract butterflys and birds. Your small dog will enjoy the freedom of the Doggy Door while you are out & about. It seems that there is always something to watch in our Southern facing vista. On the second floor the master bedroom faces south with a deck and master bath with steam shower for two. 'It's a little paradise.'
