Hello Haim,
We've left the apartment about an hour ago. We enjoyed the place and
found it to be aa oasis to escape the madness of this great city. We
had a lot of fun and we'll be back. Cheers. Madeleine
This is a great place to stay while visiting NYC. The owner met us at the duplex, showed us around and gave us dinning suggestions. It is in a great location, plenty of places to eat, shop for groceries and the subway. The duplex was clean, had enough towels for 5 ladies (that's saying a lot), and enough room to run around without bumping into each other. We had the best time exploring the city and would love to stay here again on our next trip to NYC.
We four women stayed here four nights in October. Since the place is just off Houston St, we expected lots of noise all night; however, this place is wonderfully quiet. While there is just one bathroom, we managed very well. The place is roomy so that we were not tripping over each other. The beds are memory foam mattress types, so extremely comfortable. Coffee maker was a salvation, and with Whole Foods down about 4-5 blocks away, we were set for breakfast. The metro was close, providing the F line, which takes you both up and downtown very quickly. Lots of restaurants very close. This place is a hidden gem!
My family and I just left this apartment for an extended weekend. We were very pleased with the accommodations. It is located right in the middle of downtown and uptown New York, and near a lot of restaurants/night life. The place is definitely not modern with all of the amenities, but that's not what we were looking for especially at this price point. My only complaint is about the lack of lighting in the apartment and the road noise outside throughout the night, which are pretty tolerable issues.
Perfect location and charming East Village so close to grocery – bars – quaint cafés etc. Loved Punjabi grocery, 2 doors down: order- some samosas- no regrets! Tai Thai is a 2 minute walk- best tofu pad Thai I've ever had. Pick up cheese & crackers and wine from Union Market and enjoy on your little front stoop. Thoroughly enjoyed this place. We will be back! Haim is the best- extremely communicative and accommodating. We ubered, taxied & subwayed. They all seem to be relatively similar in price. Taxis are a little bit exciting and crazy/tight for a party of five. Rivers are more spacious and luxurious. Subway is definitely an experience not to be missed!
Haim provided shampoo, extension cords, fans, and other small comforts that I have never seen in a vacation rental. He was very kind and gave us a list of nearby places to eat. The place is large and contained pkenty of sleeping places. Some areas (the porceline on the toilet for example) are a little dinged up, but this IS an older building and basic wear and tear is to be expected.
I stayed here with my husband and two boys (9 and 13) and highly recommend it to anyone. Be sure to stop in the Punjabi Grocery next door!!
So enjoyed our stay at Haim's converted synagogue (!). Close to the subway and incredible restaurants, and at a price that didn't break the bank. There was plenty of room for the six of use (5 from California who arrived to celebrate our Columbia University son / brother's 30 birthday). Such a lovely time. Highly recommend.
