Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday home in Truth or Consequences - Casita del Rio

1 bedroom, 1full bath

Cozy and romantic, this private guest house is situated on the bank of the Rio Grande River. The private flagstone patio has its own custom natural hot water mineral tub, which overlooks the rio and the sacred Turtleback Mountain. The home is located in the historic hot springs district of TorC, which has recently had much national media coverage due to its quirky retro atmosphere and the nearby future spaceport. Due to the unobstructed expansive views of diverse desert chaparral and Turtleback Mt., one gets the feeling of remoteness; however, within three blocks, one may discover art galleries, coffee shops, restaurants, local grocery, banks, antique, junk and book stores. While watching out the wall of windows in the Great Room, one can observe wildlife such as beavers, coyotes, raccoons, bobcat, and a never ending stream of migratory birds that use the Rio Grande as their super highway, while the Turtleback turns crimson in the late afternoon sun. This true adobe home is furnished with antiques, local art, and oriental rugs. The fully equipped kitchen, with copper farm sink and upgraded appliances is all you need to cook a gourmet meal with the world renown Hatch green chile. Hatch is only a half hour’s drive away. Come to tube, kayak, golf, swim, hike, fish, explore, bike, or just relax and take in the view. There is something for everyone.

Truly A Masterpiece

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I took our "Honeymoonversary" trip last summer in mid-July and somehow stumbled upon this rental.

Sally and Ken were the most gracious and kind hosts! The work that they have put into the Casita is a labor of love.

The accommodations were perfect for us. The bed was very comfortable, and the views from inside and outside the Casita are simply breathtaking!

We had ZERO problems with bugs while we were there; I think we saw 1 bug on the entire property! :-)

The mineral hot spring tub under the T or C night sky is truly mesmerizing.

If you want a memorable vacation, whether it's for romance, destressing, or all of the above, contact Sally and Ken!

They could charge triple theit rates and you'd still get a STEAL!!!

Quiet, magical getaway

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I stayed at this guesthouse for over two weeks and would highly recommend it. This casita is located right on the Rio Grande River. The living room looks out over a two person mineral springs hot tub to the Rio Grande, and beyond to Turtleback Mountain. The casita is a newer adobe home, beautifully designed and filled with every amenity. The quiet here is magnificent (as are the stars at night) yet we were only a 5 minute walk to the cafes, restaurants, and grocery store in downtown T or C. Owners Sally and Ken were very helpful, providing travel advice and local knowledge. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and it felt great to soak in the mineral hot water each evening after a day of hiking and birdwatching. This vacation rental is one-of-a-kind; perfect for two people.

Absolutely Magical

  • 5 of 5

This place is truly a gem, the pictures and descriptions don't do it justice. Private mineral hot soaking on your own deck with a stunning view, as much as you like, is priceless. The casita is very well appointed, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Sally & Ken are gracious hosts, and the town of TorC is so fun to explore. Everything really is a quick walk away.

My husband and I took a road trip from TN to New Mexico and this was one of our stops. I had found this sweet place on the internet and it definitely surpassed our expectations. The pictures on the net are flattering, but it is even more beautiful in person! We loved every minute spent here from soaking in the mineral tub to watching the wildlife to looking at the stars at night and especially playing with Toad (the owners cat). The only complaint I had were the bugs, so if coming in the summer bring bug spray. We also regretted not meeting Sally and Ken as they were camping in CO, but they were very accommodating via email and phone. The casita is a long way from home for us, but we will definitely be back!

Couldn't ask for a better place to rejuvenate, relax and unwind....

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I arrived uptight, stressed out and badly in need of a vacation. It has been four years since we went away together. After starting a new business and working seven days a week not only did we NEED this place, we had yearned for something like it.

At first look we thought we had turned into a trailer park, but once you get past the front gate, you walk into a peaceful oasis. The shrubs, tress, blooming flowers, jasmine and honeysuckle intoxicate the senses. Located along the banks of the Rio Grande, the house is a peaceful respite for the tired, overworked and weary.

We unpacked, jumped into the healing waters and started to unwind. Heaven. Joining us were an immense variety of birds-giving us the joy of their songs singing to our souls.

The house is equipped with everything you need, inclusive of a sweet kitty named Toad. Toad was especially wonderful for us, as we were missing our three dogs immensely.

If I said we would like to buy this property, its an understatement. Here, we have found nirvana. We will be back-many times.

Thank you Ken and Sally for providing such a serene, luxurious and amazing space. We will never forget this vacation.

We enjoyed everything about the guest house. It was the perfect size for the two of us, very cozy without being at all cramped. The living area felt very expansive with many huge windows overlooking a spectacular view of the river and mountains. It was very private and had a feeling of seclusion even though it was right in the village. The private mineral spring hot tub was a special treat. Everything was clean and comfortable, the kitchen had everything necessary if you should want to cook meals....and I could go on forever about how wonderful this place is. We enjoyed being at the casita so much that we spent less time than we had planned visiting the local area, and more time just relaxing and enjoying being at the casita. We are looking forward to a return visit.
