This spacious two-bedroom Spanish home was built in the early 1930's. It is half of a side-by-side duplex. The other side's occupants are long term renters, 2 sisters who have enjoyed making this their home for over 10 years. They are quiet and respectful. The physical address is 2118 Glendale Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90039. It is approximately 1200 square feet, and comes fully equipped with everything you would expect in a vacation rental and more. We are pet friendly and can direct you to all the best places for you and your pooch. We are grandparents, and know all the good places for your little ones (Or big ones since we raised our 3 children here).
We are 5 minutes to downtown Los Angeles, Griffith Park and Dodger Stadium; 15 minutes to Hollywood and Universal Studios; 30 minutes to LAX, UCLA, Santa Monica Beach, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, and Magic Mountain. Walk out your front door to the #92 Metro Bus to Glendale, Burbank and Downtown LA via the Music Center. You won't find a more convenient vacation rental in LA!
The yard is spectacular and the gardener comes weekly.
There is a boatload of storage; three large wardrobe closets, linen storage, built in cabinets and shelves in the bathroom and in the laundry room. There is well-lit off-street parking for 1-2 cars behind the house. One parking spot is included. A second space can be reserved for $5 per night. Unrestricted street parking is available on Glendale Blvd.
The large step-down living room is bathed in light; it has high stenciled beam ceilings, built-in bookshelves, and large LCD television. The step-up formal dining room has original wall sconces and Spanish style chandelier, and is quite large. The kitchen is brand new with new cabinetry, new Frigidaire dishwasher and gas range, new sink and faucets, and new black granite counter tops. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed with down comforter and duvet, a large dresser, a large desk, and 2 night stands; the 2nd bedroom has two new twin beds with comforters, a night stand and a large dresser. An optional King bed set up can be installed with advanced notice (Please see photos) for $50. It also has a private entrance to the parked cars for convenience. The private laundry room has full sized washer and gas dryer. There is an iron and ironing board. It is perfect for a small family.
Glendale Boulevard is a main artery connecting the town of Glendale to Downtown Los Angeles and can be busy at times.

We are a retired couple who have raised a family of three children in the Silverlake area. Our youngest is a merchant mariner who makes this cute place her home when she is not at sea. She has added some fun nautical touches, and the colorful decor matches her colorful life and sunny outlook.

We bought this with our growing family in mind many years ago. Our youngest daughter still lives here when she is in town. Our older daughter and her husband lived here several years until they moved to Palo Alto.
Situated in the heart of the vibrant and creative Silverlake, you're only moments away from some of the best coffee in town, a fun wine bar, boutique shopping, and good restaurants. Whole Foods Market is under construction two blocks away and will open late in 2016. And after spending a busy day on the town, you'll be glad to return to a comfortable house that's both relaxing and has charm to match the neighborhood. The house is well-situated close to the 2 and 5 freeways making access to downtown, Pasadena and the beaches simple. And it's equally convenient that it's on public transportation lines, which eliminates the need to pay steep parking rates for visits downtown. And we love the Silverlake area with all its wonderful architecture and diversity. Our daughter has allergies, so there's no carpet except for removable and washable throw rungs. You will have only hardwood and tiled floors, and throw rugs can be removed in advance.
We've rented several houses in LA that were much more inviting. On the positive side, the owners of this property are very kind and the house is reasonably comfortable. On the negative side, the house is dark, the neighbors in the adjoining house play their tv loud and walk around in noisy shoes at all hours - I don't want to be woken up at 6:30 am on vacation. They lectured us about not smoking or talking on cellphones in front of the house -- we wouldnt do either but the house owners do instruct renters to smoke in that very location. There is a $50 charge to set up the twin beds as a king -- this seems rather high. We could not adjust the shower to run a bath. We also had to get our own dishwasher soap and dishwashing liquid. Those should be supplied.
My wife and I stayed at Sheila's Spanish house in Oct,the house is very well maintained and very clean and has everything you could possibly need for a very comfortable stay.We had a car and enjoyed the local coffee shop and local bar Griffith park and the Glendale malls plus downtown LA all of which can be easily reached by public transport, bus stop just outside of the house.Our hostess Sheila went that extra mile for us for which we were very grateful,we had the best time in Silver lake and Los Angeles thank you again Sheila
My family and I stayed at this property recently and were very pleased with our entire visit. The house was clean and comfortable and the owner was very responsive and pleasant. In fact, the owner went out of her way to make accommodations for our toddler and provide us with recommendations for dining/local attractions. We would stay here again.
We stayed over the Christmas weekend and found the home very conveniently located for our needs. The house was clean and just as pictured, with the addition of a few snowmen for holiday decoration. We cooked several meals in the kitchen and found it to have all the basic items that we needed. Several people could work at once as there was good counter space too. The living room was quite comfortable and we gravitated there to the cozy seating after our busy days of visiting relatives. The books on the shelves were a big draw as our family likes to read. Nice collection of nautical books. Santa even found us and had placed the stockings across the living room sofa. The presents were spread out on the floor under the sunny front window. It was a cheerful spot to celebrate our gift giving. The bedrooms were also comfortable and had individual heaters. We needed the crib and baby accessories and it was so handy to have them available. The only flaw during our stay was the extra air bed that was set up for us had a leak, and had to be refilled during the night. The owners are working on repairing or replacing that bed. They also were most responsive, contacting us the day before we travelled, the day after we arrived at their home to see if all was well (though we missed that call), and then again after our return. They even located a small necklace that we had left behind and mailed it to us promptly. Very thoughtful and caring people. We only did a brief amount of sightseeing using some suggestions listed in a notebook they put together, but there were many good suggestions along with appropriate brochures. This home would definitely be a good location for us again. This was our first time to rent a home, and the owners made it a pleasant experience.
My son, partner and I stayed here for 8 nights. We had a good stay. The house was clean, quiet and exactly as described and as in photos. The owner was gracious and helpful.
We came to spend time with family. I don't know much about activities, attractions or restaurants in the area. We did go to Canele in Atwater...great restaurant!
We were visiting with family, so other than for breakfast we were only there at night. The kitchen is well equipped for those who need cooking facilities.
Our only negative feedback (owner is looking into ways of improving this) is that the internet connection is very slow. TV channels, basics only. I would recommend this property to anyone needing to stay in this area.
This two-bedroom house provides that home-away-from-home feel that a hotel can't EVER provide. Amenities are up-to-date, kitchen is brand new, and beds are comfortable. Although on a busy street (Glendale Blvd.), the house is set back from the road, with parking in the rear.
We had a great visit, and were very, very happy with our choice of staying in this home. I don't want to say TOO many nice things about this home because I want it to be available next time we visit!!!
Close to all the recreation at Silver Lake Park and Recreation Center. This property is in the Silverlake district of Los Angeles. In the old days it was referred to as Edendale, the home of the Motion Picture industry.

There is an additional $100 cleaning fee and a $10 per night charge for a dog, for 5 nights/short term. The perdiem for the pet is as low as $2 per night on rentals over 3 months. There is a $50 fee for converting the two twin beds into a king with all appropriate linens. There is a $50 fee for an Aerobed. These are payable in cash upon arrival.
