"Almost perfect"

  • 4 of 5

We loved the location and the size was perfect. The floors and most furnishings were nice. We noticed the kitchen chairs were broken, and we had to supply our own salt, pepper, cooking oil, bath soap, etc. There were spiders present in the space and it could use an extermination. Loads of potential in this rental. We enjoyed walking to bars and restaurants during our stay.

Perfect for us

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for three nights when we were in town for a wedding. Normally we stay with his family but for the price this place looked like a great place to stay. We're so glad we stayed here. We loved that we could bring our pup with us and she was very happy to be included in the trip. The location was perfect and central to everything. The bed was very comfortable. Although the apt was small (studio) we were not planning on having people over so it was well suited for our needs. The kitchen was small but we were able to cook breakfast there. The no outlets in the bathroom was a little annoying to get ready in, but I mostly used the mirror above the fireplace and used an extension cord provided for my curling iron. Overall. We loved this place and plan on staying here every time we come to Louisville.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. You just missed the outlet in the bathroom it is labelled above the mirror part of the light fixture.

Apt as described

Apt as described. Clean and maintained. Good location. Communication with owner was difficult. Hard to get responses after calling, leaving voicemails, sending texts and emails.

Owner's Response: There was a key box visible on porch as was relayed to guest before stay. I did call immediately after my event when I received the message. At the time the renter did not appear to be inconvenienced as they told me they went to get something to eat. As demonstrated in other reviews I always try to be available and provide information prior to stay. This has been documented in previous reviews. I think it is important to note that this renter also decided to bring a puppy without prior consent and this probably had something to do with them being inconvenienced upon arrival. This was very disruptive to my other occupants and disrespectful to me as the owner of dwelling trying to provide a nice, hassle free stay. I try to ensure all my patrons have an enjoyable stay and will rectify all situations that arise if given the proper opportunity. Sarah Anderson Owner

Wonderful Time! Comfy & Quite place to stay in Louisville

  • 4 of 5

The Highland Hideaway is a really nice property! My husband and I felt very comfortable at the house and it truly is within walking distance to quite a lot. We didn't use the kitchen much at all due to our short stay and close proximity to restaurants. If you love coffee, I highly recommend walking to Quill's on Baxter! You will not regret spending $5 on the Bourbon Vanilla Latte....promise! Cave Hill Cemetery is within walking distance as well, but if you really want to explore the entire cemetery (over 300 acres)....I would recommend driving. We were fortunate enough to get a personal tour from the cemetery manager on our last day in town. We took a short 5 minute drive across Payne Street to Frankfort Ave and rode the trolley for free (until 10pm) during FAT Friday (last Friday of each month). Lots to do and see in/near The Highlands...

One caution: If you are 6' or taller, be careful of the low doorway going into the bathroom. My husband is 6' 4" and hit his head quite a few times on the door frame. It was comical for me since I'm 5' 6" and cleared it with no issues at all! Oh! Another caution.....once inside the house, do not walk out/shut the front door without the key. The door will lock once shut so you MUST have the key to regain entry. We didn't get locked out, but I can easily see someone shutting the door to unload their car, just to turn around and find yourself locked out of the house.

Sarah was really easy to work with and very responsive/timely in her messages back about the house location and access code, etc. I did not need to contact her while at the house since everything was pretty self explanatory once we got there.
