When you step into it, you are enveloped with a sense of tranquility and beauty. You watch awesome sunsets with a glass of wine from the lanai swings. At night you are lulled by the sounds of the coqui tree frogs and ocean waves. In the mornings, the sparkling blue Caribbean catches your breath. In the afternoon you take a nap to the sound of the gently blowing trade winds.
You can walk to the ocean at 7am, stand on the beach and feel the excitement of the surfers taking their first wave, fifty yards away from you. In the evening, you can stroll down to El Faro, Rincon's lighthouse park, stopping on your way for a sundown drink at the Calypso Cafe.
Amigos Beach House sits on a quarter acre of land set back 100 yards from the Caribbean. It lies on the westernmost tip of Puerto Rico in the small town of Rincon, known as the 'Pueblo de los Bellos Atardeceres', the Town of Beautiful Sunsets. Amigos Beach House faces the west and the entire side of the house is a large screened lanai open to the sunsets, the surf, the Caribbean Trade Winds (the 'trades'), and in season, the migrating whales.
The 1100 square foot main living area is on the second floor and is reached by exterior wooden steps curving up from the end of the driveway. The house is canopied by Almond, Mango and Mahogany trees, giving the feeling of being in a treehouse...but with all the connivances of a contemporary home. On the upper main level, there are two bedrooms, two full baths, a fully equipped kitchen, and the open dining room - living area extending from the center of the main cupola out to the lanai (porch).
The cabana is a separate apartment on the ground floor with its own entrance, three steps up from the breezeway. The cabana has a bedroom, a full bath, and a kitchen-living room opening onto the screened lanai, similar to the main floor. The bedroom has AC. The cabana also has Mexican tile accents and wooden beam ceiling with windows on all 4 sides allowing the trades to blow through. Its 400 square feet added to the main floor make 1500 square feet of living space.
The Amigos Beach House is a unique wooden 12 sided dodecagon. The 8' walls rise to a central 16' windowed cupola with a Casa Blanca fan. The cathedral ceiling is natural wooden beams. Because of the open design, the trades blow gently through the house year round, assisted by Casa Blanca fans in each room. The bedrooms have split air conditioning units blended into the architectural integrity. The beige peach ceramic tile floors keep the house cool to the feet. There are Mexican tile accents in the kitchen and baths. The house has Anderson windows less than a year old. The wooden roof is covered with reflective galvalum. There is an air space between the wood and the galvalum layers, adding to the house's coolness. The house has a passive air conditioning system of roof vents with wind-powered suction hoods, and air vents between rooms and around the exterior where the walls meet the ceiling.
The exterior's natural wood camouflages it into the surroundings. Amigos Beach House is not visible from the road, it is about 100 yards away. The asphalt drive from the main road ends in a graveled breezeway under the house. The breezeway leads through to the front yard. At the beach end of the breezeway is the patio table area with a gas grill and hammock. The front yard has an outdoor beach shower, common in the Caribbean. At the corner edge of the front yard is the beach gate and steps down to the ocean.
The fenced yard is mature and well treed. In addition to the mango, there are banana and coconut palms, lime, avocado, and breadfruit trees. There are Hibiscus, Jasmine, and Bougainvillea bushes, and Ylang-Ylang tree and various flowers like Buddha Lilies and Mira Mirandas (Impatience).

Surfing, snorkeling, relaxing on the beach. Whipping up Pina Coladas and watching the sunsets from the upstairs porch and sleeping to the sounds of the ocean waves. Walking to Calypso, enjoying happy hour and then cooking out on the grill while the kids can watch football upstairs!
We love this family friendly home! This is our second year staying minutes away from the beach! All the comforts of home! Great vacation! We will be back next year again!
Great place to stay while enjoying Rincon. Very clean, great location for surfers, & you can enjoy sunsets with your own semi private beach access !!!!!
Great grounds, great view. New Gas grill on patio. Views of the surf were super cool! 1 mile from everything but in the quiet eighborhood. Def coming back!
The house was great the owner was more than helpful in every aspect I would recommend it to friends and would stay there again overall a great Experience
First I'd like to start with the customer service. The owner is extremely attentive and a pleasure to deal with. Prior to check in, he texted me with some last minute details that streamlined the "figuring it out" process. He sent videos with how to access the beach and showing where some of the "key holes" were to go out surfing. If I had a question, he'd respond within minutes. I couldn't believe how easy he made it. He really makes it seem like "mi casa es su casa." There is snorkel and body boarding equipment available to use, washer, dryer, grill, full kitchen, towels, sheets, out door shower, hammock, and the list goes on.
Secondly, is the location. Its a 30 second walk to fantastic surfing. You can surf right out the back yard or walk/drive to Playa Domes which is just a half mile up the street/beach. Just up the hill is Happy Bowls, where the Acai Bowls get your mornings started, and the furthest bars and local restaurants are just 1 mile from the house. The location to price ratio cannot be beat. Money WELL spent.
Between the second to none customer service and prime location, this owner has won me as a repeat customer. I'm looking forward to my next PR trip.
