Nice and Quiet Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Greg's lake house. He was super easy to communicate with and gave great directions on everything regarding the stay. The house had everything needed for a trip away and was easy to find and access. I loved being so close to the water and having a view of the lake from the kitchen/living area. The area was nice and quiet which was exactly what we were looking for. The lake is peaceful and the sunsets were amazing! We spent the majority of our time outside on the dock fishing, reading and relaxing.

Things of note: there was a hot spot for wifi access, but we never bothered to set it up. I'd have to go out to the dock to send texts, but it didn't matter too much since we were outside most of the day. The dishwasher runs loud, so something to be aware of, especially if you're trying to watch a show upstairs in the small living/dining area. The closest town, Hawthorne, FL, has a grocery store and a few fast food restaurants, but not much else.

All in all, this is a great place to get away from work, relax, and be outdoors. We had a wonderful time!

A great vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Us two couples stayed there for the whole month of February. We mostly crappie fished at local lakes. Went to Crescent beach also. Gainesville and Ocala are only a short distance away.We were in awe of the modern house out in the woods with a wonderful yard and view (beautiful sunsets). We were able to cook and eat almost all of our meals there which saved us money. It was like camping with all the luxuries. The bed mattresses were the most comfortable we ever slept on. We enjoyed campfires, canoeing and fishing off the dock. We have plans to go there again next year.

Definitely a Five Star Lake House!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect for the family(and extended family)! We enjoyed the comfort of the indoors and the "roughing it" in the outdoors! The dock and beach area along with the large yard area are perfect for a family to get away together without being "all together". Some of us would fish, a couple of us went out in the boat, while the kids would play along the sandy beach. We enjoyed the outdoor ping pong, watching the beautiful sunset and built a campfire for smores! The pinball machines and dvd players are a plus for indoor fun. Great living area for getting together for a movie night! We appreciated the downstairs bedroom for its privacy for our parents who joined us for a night. The house comes filled with basic supplies to get you started, plenty of bedding and towels, very clean! Thank you for your hospitality Greg, we will be seeing this five star lake house again!

Wonderful quite setting, great lake

  • 4 of 5

The place was clean, modern. Liked it being so isolated. The lake is awesome, esp at sun set. A few deficits, mostly the lack of robust internet access. The Hot Spot Greg has is very limited, you can only access emails, as there is only a gig of data available. This is a problem when there are more than 2 people needing to get on the web. We had to go into the Hawthorne Library to finish our work. Also, there is limited dining space in the kitchen, via a small breakfast bar. Lastly, the second bedroom opens into the garage, then the person has to walk upstairs. There is a picnic table by the lake, great ambiance for our Thanksgiving meal.
