About The Owner

Our family has been coming down from the mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania to the Outer Banks for years because we have extended family living here. We fell in love with the Beach and particularly the Nags Head area. The sight and sounds of the Ocean drew us.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2012

Why The Owner chose Nags Head

This cottage has the proximity of the beach and all the comforts of home. We see beautiful sunrises over the ocean and sunsets over the National Seashore . It is a great get-away.

What makes this cottage unique

The location is great. It is in the residential area in South Nags Head. It is so close to the beach that you will feel that you are on the ocean. You will actually have all the benefits of oceanfront vacationing without the burdens.

A wonderful stay at Loon Court Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic place! A little slice of "Beach heaven" awaits you.

The pictures posted do not do the cottage justice. Everything is accurate as described/photographed. The view cannot be beat. As one reviewer mentioned, watching dolphins from the house in the morning is a real treat. From the moment you arrive, you will not be able to stop looking out the windows at the beautiful stretch of beach just steps from the cottage.

It's apparent that the owners have thought of every little detail & comfort for guests. Night lights, paper products and a very well stocked kitchen are available. They even had chip clips! It's little things like this that make the vacation so much more enjoyable.

Upon our arrival, the cottage was clean, bright and very welcoming. There is WiFi available and a variety of tourist magazines with nearby attractions. We visited Jockey Ridge State Park, Bodie Island Light and drove over to Roanoke Island for an afternoon. Another day we headed south to Cape Hatteras for shopping and lunch. Make sure to stop by the Cape Hatteras Light on the way. It's a beautiful drive with lots of scenery.

We chose to eat dinner out each night and the collection of menus provided was very helpful. We brought our dog on this vacation and found many outdoor places we could bring her along.

I emailed the owner while there to let her know how pleased we were with the cottage and we have already booked for next year! She was very prompt with her reply.

One of my favorite things was to sleep with the windows open and listen to the sound of the ocean waves. Perhaps it was the time of year (before Memorial Day) but we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the street and found what few tenants/residents to be very friendly.

We look forward to our return again next year and hopefully, many years to come!

Great Location, almost perfect!

  • 4 of 5

My husband, daughter and myself just spent a wonderful week at Loon Ct Cottage. We’ve stayed at a lot of different beach and mountain rentals and this is one of the best.

The location can’t be beat. It might as well be Ocean front. I loved being able to sit at the kitchen table or the love seat in the living room and have unobstructed views of the ocean. It was nice to be able to run back to the cottage to grab a snack or cold drink. No need to lug everything down to the beach with you. The cottage is also very close to the Bodie Lighthouse, less than a 10 minute drive. Also very easy access to Roanoke Island and the Tanger outlet mall.

The cottage is very nicely decorated. We found the living room furniture to be so comfortable I would like to purchase the same for my home. There is plenty of seating at the kitchen table. The bathrooms are nice and bright. Everything was so CLEAN when we arrived. I really enjoyed the large walk in shower in the master.

Anne was so quick to respond to my request and all follow up emails. She was very easy to work with. Not something I always find when renting on VRBO.

My only complaints are 1. The dishwasher doesn’t clean. The first load I ran twice and the dishes were still dirty and I rinse everything before I load them. I ended up hand washing everything, something I do not want to do on vacation. 2. The beds in the back two rooms (queen and double) are very, very loud. They creak at every move. I ended up sleeping most nights in the living room and could still hear the beds when my daughter rolled over in her room or if my husband did in our room through their closed doors. The beds are the only reason I am not giving a full 5 stars for Loon Ct Cottage.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Karen for your review and I am glad that the setting of Loon Court cottage was relaxing and the proximity of the beach made the coming and going to the beach very quick and easy. As for the dishwasher and the queen bed and double bed, I am already in touch with my maintenance crew and we will replace or repair whatever is necessary so that there will be a working dishwasher and non-squeaky beds. Thanks/ Anne

A Little Piece of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Loon Court Cottage is a gem among our favorite travel memories. The majesty of the ocean is beyond compare and I cannot think of a better place to experience it. My husband and I celebrated both our 37th wedding anniversary and his birthday during that wonderful week. The views from the deck and the dining room kept us awestruck, and we explored what turned out to be an amazing selection of attractions. Our days started with glorious sunrises and ended with the beauty of the full moon over the ocean.

Whether flying kites on the beach or stargazing from the deck, we always felt safe, comfortable and relaxed. Walking to the beach took minutes and was easy day or night. The cottage was immaculate, pleasingly decorated and bright. The kitchen was updated, with an open and spacious feel. We hope to have the privilege of enjoying Loon Court Cottage again very soon. Thank God for the beauty of the ocean, and thank you Anne for sharing your Little Piece of Heaven…

Remarkable

  • 5 of 5

Loon cottage is a remarkable place. For a week in November, two friends, a one-year-old springer spaniel, and I thoroughly enjoyed a week at Anne Coynes cottage. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The ocean highlights all: early morning walks on the beach; afternoon deck sitting; dinners featuring the ocean as a backdrop; falling asleep to the sounds of the sea. Remarkable. We discovered wonderful excursions during our week on the Outer Banks. Rather than list them all, I'll mention my favorite only. Hiking the trails at the Nags Head Woods Preserve is the best. Thank you Anne. Next time I'll plan for a longer stay.

The BEST!!!

  • 5 of 5

We've been to the Outer Banks numerous times. I will never stay any where but Loon Court from now on!! It was easy to find, close to beach, close to town (yet secluded), wonderful owners, great accommodations. Everything was perfect in every way possible! We were blessed to see dolphins the day we arrived and even dolphins "wave surfing"!! An incredible sight!! Drinking a cup of coffee, eating breakfast and watching the ocean was marvelous! We had relatives staying at an "oceanfront" property, but they were almost 1/4 mile from beach (going over huge dunes). Ours was a leisurely walk. With Nags Head so close, it is great for shopping, pier fishing, deep sea fishing... anything you would want to do. I cannot think of enough great things to say about the accommodations and location. I cannot recommend it enough, as it should receive 6 stars!! It would especially wonderful for a family and grand parents, as you do not have to walk up to the 3rd or 4th floor to see the ocean. And the ocean is so close! Thanks for sharing this special place!

Can't Wait To Come Back...

  • 5 of 5

We had a amazing time at your wonderful cottage. Everyday we saw dolphins from the deck and the kitchen table. It was so relaxing, we spent our days at the beach and our evenings just hanging out at the cottage playing games and watching movies, it had everything that we needed. The beds were very comfortable and we had plenty of room for the 6 of us. When we did need something from the store it was a short drive away. Anne was so wonderful to work with, if we had any questions she got back to us right away. Thank-you so much, we made some great memories!!!
