THE HISTORY OF OUR ESTATE: Our ancestor Angelo Oreste Simoncini, born in Montespertoli in 1872, started his farming activity at the end of the 19th Century on a small plot of land, partly his own and partly on lease, where he grew a special kind of straw, which was used for making hats; later on, with the help of about 60 seasonal workers, he opened a factory for the production of straw plaits with which the world-renowned 'Florence straw hats' were made. On July 5, 1912, Simoncini bought a few buildings in Montespertoli, in a place called 'Casa di Monte', surrounded by approximately 10 hectars of land, which up to this day are the centre of the business he founded. The production of hat straw, however, had to cease in 1924, due to competitive products imported from Asia. Consequently, cereals were replaced by vineyards and olive groves, and more land was purchased. The same trend is followed by the present owners, who inherited the estate in 1973; between 1997 and 1999 they expanded the land to over 53 hectares

OUR WINES : The wine vault/cellars of 'Azienda Agricola Casa di Monte' were built quite recently, but in full respect of the traditional rural architecture of Chianti, with typical material, so as to keep the environment impact to a minimum.
However, its wine making equipment is highly technological. The grapes, exclusively hand-picked, are softly pressed and rasped, before being introduced into steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation transforms the must-grape into wine. This step, which takes 12 to 15 days, is controlled by means of a cooling plant guaranteeing an ideal and constant temperature throughout the fermentation period. This stage over, the marcs are pressed in order to separate wine from skins, the latter having yielded their colour, polyphenols and tannins. This begins the maturation time, which will last approximately 7 to 8 months, at the end of which the wine will be put into bottles.
This is a family-runned business. The photo hereby is showing all our family.
All of us work at our farm, where we produce honey, liquors, wine and olive-oil.
At 200 metres far from our Farm, it is placed the VILLA CASA DI MONTE that we rent to tourists, assuring them full privacy . But in case they may need help , we may be at the VILLA in 3 minutes to solve any matters or to help them with tourists information and so on.

Andrea Simoncini purchased this villa in 1850
This property has always belonged to my family, from generations....
A familiar enviroment , a VILLA wth a private pool only for you, surrounded by the Chianti hills... and our support available 24h/day for anything you may need!!
Where can I possibly begin? Our stay was absolutely wonderful at this property and you should look no further! My family and I stayed at this villa on Jessica and her family property for 4 nights, 5 days and could easily stay longer. From the second we arrived, we were made to feel like family. Jessica was available to us even before we arrived. We had some questions about bike tours, wine tours etc. and she was readily available to provide a recommendation, which by the way, we ended up being so happy with! The home itself is lovely. It is one single home however it is a bit broker up with two different entrances to two separate living spaces, kitchens, bedrooms etc. This would be a great set up for two families traveling together. Since we were one family we were a little split up but it didn’t matter. There is a large glass window room overlooking the property that can seat 10-12 people easily. There are also separate lounge areas outside including by the beautiful pool! The house also has a wine rack of all of the wine that Casa Di Monte produces which we took full advantage of! You can take whatever wine you want and just pay at the end and the wine prices are more than reasonable! There is also homemade olive oils that are a must try as well! On the day of our arrival, my family and I went to Jessica’s house from a Pizza dinner where her mother in law, Antonella made homemade brick oven pizzas that were fantastic! Another night, we also had Jessica and Antonella give us a cooking lesson and made a pasta, a meat and dessert. We had someone in our group with a dairy allergy and they made him his own separate meal which was so thoughtful! I have to say, I think our group were not easy guests, we were last minute asking Jessica for things every day and instead of making us feel like she was annoyed, she was more than willing to help us. She went above and beyond for us the entire time we were there, my family and I were constantly in awe of how much she is constantly doing! Obviously this is a very special place. In regards to location, it is in a very small little town in Chianti, about 45 minutes from Florence. The town of the property itself has a grocery store, some bakeries, restaurants etc. so it doesn’t have really all you need to make it your home base for however long you are there! Overall, everything about our stay was amazing but it is very obviously that it would not be the same without Jessica. Enjoy!!
We had the best time, the house is spacious and very well equipped. We ate at the main house several times and Jessica made us feel right at home and the food was super delicious!! It was very nice after a long day in the sun to come back and chill by the pool!! I wish I was back there right now taking in the beautiful views:)
From the moment we landed in Italy I knew we would be taken care of. Jessica stayed in constant contact with me to make sure she knew when we would arrive so she could greet us, show us around, give us information and make us comfortable. Not only is the setting of the villa beautiful among the Tuscan hills, olive trees and vineyards but the villa was very comfortable for our group of 8. We arrived during a heatwave and took advantage of the large swimming pool. Jessica also took us on a personalized tour of her family's vineyard and winery. Our last evening there, we went up to her family's home and they made us a delicious dinner including pizzas in their wood burning pizza oven on a terrace overlooking the hillside. The entire family was so friendly that my Italian parents, my uncle, my cousin, my two children, my husband and I truly felt like part of their family when we left. I would highly recommend Villa Casa di Monte, especially to wine lovers. The family's Chianti is excellent by the way.
Our group of six adults recently spent four wonderful days at this property. It was idyllic! From the warm welcome we received from Jessica to her brief, daily check ins, our comfort was assured. The property afforded us the opportunity to experience life on a true Tuscan estate, excellent views of the surrounding countryside and was a wonderful respite from the large cities. The location is perfect - about 30 minutes from Florence and Siena, and maybe an hour from Pisa. Jessica gave us recommendations on place a to visit which were astounding, and the town of Montespertoli was nearby with great butchers, markets and resources. We hope to return again and highly recommend the property to other travelers.
I was at Villa Casa di Monte on March 2013, and I have to say that every year , on Easter, I go to Italy, spending some days in different area. Well, in 10 years, I have never found such a pleasant place ! The Villa is A LOT - REALLY A LOT - more beautiful than the photos that are on the Villa's website , I said this to the owners too, especially to Jessica that is the young lady (wife of owner) welcoming guests and remaining at disposal for any needs. Jessica and her family are really great to guests! They assured us full privacy but at the same time they are running in a minute if you need help. They live in the large farm placed about 200 metres far from the Villa , where they have no animals since they only produces wines and olive-oil: both GREAT products! They have a large selection of wines that they export worldwide, I have never tasted such a good red as their "Riserva" wine! Just delicious! Marco, Jessica's father-in-law, welcomed us by showing us the farm and he took a lot of time explaining how they produce wines, showing us all the different process and machineries they have: a real experience of Tuscany!!! Unfortunately I could not enjoy the swimming-pool since it was March and temperature was around 15 Celsius/59 Fahrenheit on the warmest days, but there were the sun-beds at the pool where we have enjoyed a lot to relax as well. What else to say? YES, THE FOOD!!! The delicious, VERY RICH meals that Antonella (Marco's wife) prepared us ! She is a funny woman, ad we really enjoyed her company too! I highly recommend this Villa for a family holiday, no doubt!
An enchanting and extraordinary...month was spent by all at villa Casa Di Monte! Besides fulfilling all the requisite needs for travelers with small children: comfort, cleanliness, and amenities, Casa di Monte provided the intangible feeling of taking part in daily Tuscan living. After a day’s jaunt to a winery, medieval town, or cheese farm, we had the pleasure of returning home, to take a refreshing dip in the pool… followed by a stroll up the pebbled driveway, lined with lavender and olive trees, to sit at the dinner table in the main house, where Antonella and Jessica prepared the finest, traditional Tuscan meal and setting.…. We sat for hours, with the late afternoon sunlight filling the barrel vaulted brick dining space, admiring the gallery lit Prosciuttos, artfully on display in the rear of the dining room, lingering over platters of pastas, meats, veges, fruits, Casa Di Monte wine and more wine… while the children ran in and out and all around …
And, Antonella’s outdoor pizza parties, fresh out of the wood-burning oven, enjoyed on the terrace perched above the beautiful Tuscan landscape of grape vines and olive groves were splendid in their simplicity…
Above and beyond the comfortable stay, the real pulse and delight of Casa Di Monte is the Simoncini family, who displayed great efforts and care in welcoming and acclimating us Americans into their rich, slow, and civilized Tuscan way of life.
